@latinaparfait good is subjective but I see what you mean. I definitely enjoyed the game as it was the first fallout I played but the others, excluding F4, were far superior. Bethesda couldn't write their own lore so they put Dogmeat and Super Mutants in the east coast with no explanation, for example. Sucking the peen of the Brotherhood of Steel making them into the objective good guys of the series which they never were meant to be, I could go on. The only original lore they wrote was the Institute and they could have done much better with it.
New Vegas is a fantastic game
It sort of reminds me of a quote in the 'Riddick' movie .... "You keep what you kill". Bethesda can keep Amazon Fallout because they killed it.
Being real you are an extreme minority in that case then, like it or not Bethesda are the ones who made the franchise so popular today. If they hadnt rebooted it then it would likely have remained a relatively obscure game from the 90s. There would have been no New Vegas, which is pretty widly agreed as being the best game in the series.
Even people who have played the OG fallouts and prefer them over the newer ones, most will have only ever found the game via the newer entires and probably because they enjoyed the newer entires and wanted more.
They've made plently of mistakes, saying they "destroyed the franchise" when they bought it just sounds dumb.

Just because just one city or settlement {like SHADY SANDS} belonging to a faction is destroyed, that won't cause the entire faction to be destroyed as well, especially when the same has many other settlements. Also, the destruction of SHADY SANDS according to this TV-SH0W happened around 2277, but NEW VEGAS takes place in 2281, & the destruction of SHADY SANDS was never mentioned in it; when such an iconic settlement that belongs to a faction was nuked, but no one from that faction mentions it at all, well-- it kinda clearly indicates that something isn't right with the plot that they're presenting to u.
ln fact, whenever an NPC mentions SHADY SANDS in NEW VEGAS, the NPC always suggests that SHADY SANDS was never destroyed, that it is still inhabited, & that it still functions as the capital of the NCR government.

I used to think the idea that Bethesda hates New Vegas was just speculation based on the Metacritic debacle, and Beth not wanting to touch the west coast in their games. This show being declared canon is either confirmation they really do hate NV, or the backlash is going to make them backpedal very hard. Also, Todd apparently told the showrunners not to include certain things because they want to include them in FO5....
They already made shady sands getting nuked for a plotpoint as canon, let alone mess up the NCR’s power in the west coast, it’s safe to say they’re going to not follow the source material tightly for season 2.
