    Thank you so much for this video. I purchased the 12 inch lights but everything else is the same and couldn't figure out how to get the reflectors in. I was thrilled to see your video which was so helpful to me. Thank you again for sharing the full set up.. I needed to see that.

    If you get a light that is defective and will not assemble correctly just open the paperwork inside the box or contact Barrina directly via phone with your purchase order date or invoice number and they will simply replace the defective item in your set for anyone else who has a issue so then your new set will be exactly what you purchased.

    Has anyone used the Barrina T5 1 Foot led bar lights for leopard gecko Bioactive setup?

  • @TheOutlawGeneralBacon

    Finally . !!.. I have been searching everywhere for a room set up for flowers using LEDs.. I've watched countless hours of growing weed, 🤷🏻‍♂️but nothing for actual flowers.. but I gotta say, I think I have a mastery of nutrients and soil set up . .
    Question, are you going to be using any reflective walls? Temperature control? Humidity? Curious to see how to add humidity without destroying walls..so far, nothing 😔.. any suggestions?

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  Před rokem +1

      Glad it was helpful! No reflective walls, just walls painted white - luckily, good amount of natural light here, in addition to the LEDs. For temperature control, relying on my house A/C, humidity is ok so far, 40-60%. I used to use humidifiers when living in low humidity climate, check out this video showing how I used them: czcams.com/video/5_p7ytet7bY/video.html

    I'm interested in doing this for orchids. Seedlings and plant propagation racks, so I can grow more plants to trade or sell. These look very effective.

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  Před 2 lety

      I've seen people use these successfully with orchids. I had to make some adjustments for my African Violets since I made this video - two lights per shelf turned out to be too intense for African Violets, so I removed one light and kept only one light per shelf, raising it all the way up to the top of the shelf, they seem to be doing much better now.

    • @sarrakitty
      @sarrakitty Před 2 lety +1

      @@grayturtleviolets I tend to grow higher light plants than African violets so 2 per shelf would probably be perfect for my needs.

    I just had to raise a 4500 lumen fixture because it was a little too close to my AVs. At least they are starting to bloom. The fixture is a 4 '' utility light. The disadvantage is, as you mentioned, that you can't space the bulbs. The advantage is that iyou don't have the frustrations of putting the reflectors in yourself. I notice a purple tint in the grow lights. This is caused by the fact that those lamps probably mainly emit red and blue light, which are the main colors used by plants.

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  Před 2 lety +1

      I too had to play with the LED shop lights, in terms of their height, first using the hanging features they came with, and later putting them higher up, fixing to the shelves with zip ties. The grow light does have a slight tint, I did notice it, too - glad it's not as pink or purple like other lights. The variegated plants started getting more pink in the variegation under the grow light, I've been observing - will make sure to show it in my future videos.

    Can you please check the lux output by the Barrina light? You can actually use your phone by downloading an app. 😃

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  Před 2 lety +1

      It measured somewhere between 5000 and 7000 lux, using the free Light Meter app - I measured a few times at various distance, to get a lux range.

    I bought these same lights from Amazon and switched out my standard T5 fluorescent lights with these in mid Oct (over 2 months ago now). I do have many AV’s blooming now profusely which I think was triggered by these lights. I also have some plants with downward leaves and noting some tight centers. I’ve experimented with the length of time I’m leaving them on, anywhere from 9-11 hours I’ve been trying. My stand is also metal like yours and they sit on three shelves 36” wide with two lights per shelf like yours and mine are about 12-14” from the lights.
    I took those reflectors off because I read that they increase the output intensity 20-30%.
    Curious how your plants are doing with these Barina LED lights and the length of time you’re running them. They are not dimmable.
    I have them on a timer. Wondering would it be of any benefit to cut them off for an hour or two mid cycle and turn them back on to finish the daily light cycle.

      @grayturtleviolets  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks so much for sharing, my plants seem to have reacted the same way, I show one-month results in this video: czcams.com/video/pIjivIfE7us/video.html. Since then, I have removed one light from each shelf, leaving only one light fixture per shelf, and raised the lights higher up - 12-14 inches above the top of the crown, the lights are on for 10 hrs/day without intervals - so far so good. They are definitely blooming much better than before, and the foliage variegation is developing much stronger - will try making another follow up video soon.

    • @grayturtleviolets
      @grayturtleviolets  Před 2 lety

      I, too, like the 6,500-4,000K white color temperature, because it renders true color of the blooms. Although I have observed not all of my plants thriving equally using the monochromatic lights. Luckily this grow light is not as pink as the other grow lights, in person it has very faint pink undertone, so hoping it won't distort the color of the blooms too much...

      Depends on the AV varieties - some of mine bloom well with regular LED shop lights, others prefer full spectrum, and a few bloom well only in natural light. Good question! I didn’t see the CRI on this product listing, I did see other Barrina light varieties with 82 and 95 CRI. I would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer to confirm the CRI for this particular product.
