Sleep Builds are BROKEN in Elden Ring

Sleep feels like almost cut content. I think Seluvius was supposed to teach you sleep spells and there's the whole deal with St. Trina/Miqella which is just never elaborated on
Hopefully we'll see more in the DLC
@@1mpure Is DLC even confirmed? From Soft doesn't really do DLC, sure Bloodborne had one and DS3 had 3 but Sekiro despite being game of the year and even having a sort of cliffhanger true ending didn't get one.
@@freshlymemed5680 what are your talking about lmfao they do DLC
@@freshlymemed5680 What are you talking about all souls borne games had DLC. DS1 had 1, DS2 had 3, BB had 1, DS3 had 2. Sekiro was the only game not to have one, but it did have post launch updates
@@freshlymemed5680 sekiro is the only game in a long time that they havent done at least one dlc for. Dark souls 1, 2, 3 and bloodborne all had dlc. You're right tho, sekiro broke the streak and theres almost so much stuff already here that I'm not sure how theyll add to it with dlc, besides the obvious question mark of Miquella.
I love watching bleed builds invade me without leveling vigor and then watching as I delete their HP with one counter poke.
50 int 10 vigor
My character is like level 50 and I summoned an invader with a tweaked af bleed build, literally deleted them with a single flaming strike from my anchor lol
all points going right into dex and int, absolute god plays
counter pokes are fun to do while fighting RoB glass cannon builds, and that's a fact
Me a dude who uses a bleed build
Well shit
you can craft sleep pots, i've never used them myself but they seem pretty good cause it frees up the rest of your build and they're fairly spammable, however it does require farming the cleanrot knights in the swamp of aeonia for lillies
Yup. The "exceedingly difficult to find" crafting components for consumables are easily the worst part of the crafting system.
@@qwormuli77 I will say like I understand why they chose to do that especially with the perfumer bottles and the fact that it seems like the perfumer bottles and pots almost in the acting the same way as healing flasks it makes me think that what they should have done is the same thing they did with the mix of wonderous physique in that it should work where you find certain tear like objects and then you can combine them together except for the way they would work for the perfumer bottles and pots if you have a total number of perfume bottles and pots what's the name you can allocate how many of those bottles go to what year and perhaps you could have three or four separate tears equipped at a time meaning that you could have most have perhaps a four of each type of tear or you could specialize in the more specific ones with then they just regenerate every time you sit at a bonfire with die and resurrect. That way they could still lock high-grade items behind first sample the Mountaintop of Giants or the crumbling faram azula or haligtree while still making it a lot easier to interact with that entire system which kind of circumvents the crafting system but they could still have the crafting system for things like arrows and bolts so that way you don't always have to go find a specific guy with the specific errors you want but instead can just get the relatively easy materials to make more arrows and because you can make so many arrows it makes the crafting system still make some amount of sense
The sleep pots are pretty effective against the lobsters
yea i was really excited to use those but turns out they're a limited resource, no bell-bearing or anything, just farm cleanrot knights for 5 hours or have a friend with cheat engine. Really questionable game design
@@NotAlbino well like everything from soft does it starts are often patchy But as time goes on they start to really learn and understand how to properly make it right so I will say sadly we probably won't see a better version of this system until the next fromsoft game which if they decide to make that one in open-world to it will probably then mean it's going to be a hell of a long time but hey it's at least bit interesting and fun different way to play for at least all of 10 minutes.

God the editing in these videos is top notch. Serious shout out to the effort of putting in so many camera changes, sound effects, photoshopping nonsense, and just making a clean/enjoyable experience. Awesome job editor.
Warms the heart man, going to sleep on a good note 🥺
@@DoodlezMusic Well damn, my message in the ocean of comments was noticed. But seriously, the work is phenomenal. I have limited understanding of the editing process, but every small camera change and dumb little joke goes such a long way in making these videos a blast. Can't even begin to describe how much I appreciate it when editors put the effort into each moment of a video when they could, theoretically, just pump out a short compilation and be done with it. Speaking of sleep, the godskin bosses can be easily put to sleep with one sleep pot if you throw it at either one of them when they do an attack that keeps them in place for a moment or when they phase change.
can you stun lock with sleep tho? if not, that's not that useful.
@@petkofuchalski9809 the thing about using something is not relying on just it, making a couple openings can make all the difference in a fight. I should mention the godskins can be critical struck in the front while asleep.
@@Kaijudomage well that makes them actually good, bud if you were to able to crit the godskin then they will be pointless.
@@petkofuchalski9809 not even, putting one of them to sleep lasts for a couple minutes making it way easier to focus on fighting one.
@@Noisetank007 interesting, i thought that only the weaker enemies actually fell asleep from this.
Made another character to early level invade and was sad to find that the only people in multiplayer are being carried by their full meta build friends.
same thing for me when I did level 50 invasions. You have to pump all your points into vigor to not get deleted by phantoms. I legit have like 46 total vigor on my level 50 char
cope
@@zambsDGOW 46 vigor at level 50 doesn't seem that strange though. Even if you're not doing invades, you'll put most of your levels into vigor regardless. I play a mage build, at level 50 I still only have 20 intelligence, pretty much everything else is in vigor.
Just get enough stats to use your weapon, you'll be carried by base damage rather than scaling early on, then just make yourself tanky.
Yeah, I experienced the same. It just turns into gankfests where 2 phantoms have full late game gear and it's not that fun

There is at least one crab in raya lucaria that has a sleep mist breath. It's tucked away on a corner that most people won't even see, and even if they find the crab it's just one attack that it might not even use

There's another crab in Consecrated Snowfield

Empty jump? What do you mean?
I'm also trying to implement the torch into my kit, but the sleep buildup seems a bit lacking in PvP; does leveling it up or putting more points in faith change it? Thanks
@Sunlight Empty jump is just jumping at them without attacking. i don't believe the sleep changes at all ever. I reccomend sleep pots if you are having hard time using the torch or need to supplement it

Bless you the man who asked for patrick bateman to be added
For everyone using sleep, remember that sleep is treated as a stance break, and you can critical a sleeping enemy as if you just parried them
1:24 lol is like an anime
Albino; you can parry shield pokes and i think you can parry weapon tips as well; however parrying a double shield poke can be inconsistent even with buckler frames. Its possible, just kinda difficult when if the parry misses or partials youre stuck for potentially 2 R1s
That's really just the problem with parrying to begin with. Also, considering that parrying is kind of inconsistent to begin with, I just avoid parrying as much as possible. Some attacks require you to parry later than expected, others earlier, others right on time. Never liked parrying in these games, even back when I was actually good at it. Still, if it was more lenient, I suppose it would just be extremely broken.
@@CottidaeSEA DS1 had probably the best parrying because all the attacks that we're parry-able come out fast and are telegraphed. There wasn't really any timing gimmicks to any of it besides maybe the Gwyn one which imo isn't even that hard to do. The games that came after just had too much movesets with delayed hits, parry windows, etc.
@@CottidaeSEA Its kind of a conflated issue with parries being a hard read mechanic by intention so in order to naturally counter "fishing" because people just forgot jump attacks existed or didnt walk around and backstab; we got the varying attack window treatment to where consistent parries are more relegated to the 1st and 3rd strikes of an attack due to how combat rhythm works and how R1R1s used to work.
This game still technically has lenient parries, I'd actually argue moreso considering buckler/target shield parry is the only 6 framer in the game anymore, most parrys seem balanced universally to become active around 10-11f of startup with the exception of I think med shields; and in a rare case the parrying daggers recovery was actually buffed to recov around 26~28f compared to the nearly 36~ before; as well some parries sharing properties ie estoc/rapier parry is equivalent to a med shield in this game.
The issue becomes you know 9/10 times the guy behind the gs will follow up with a second but thanks to hitstun window theyre left in technical advantage and afaik backsteps lack iframing, so youre forced into counterswing which is a bad option, parry which youll likely not land outside of first strike due to advantage framing, and rolling.
There's still a method to the madness but unfortunately it doesnt seem like you can "force" a reaction like old step setups
@@freshlymemed5680 DS1 had good parrying, but the parry window was strange. Consistent but strange. So once you learned how to do it, you could parry basically anything.
Status effects are so broken in PvP right now lmao

death blight only works in tarnished
I used rivers of blood or a little, gennerally pressuring them really hard helps. it takes a second for the rivers of blood to come out and unless they have mega poise it's not hard to stagger them
Every now and again, I remember fighting a sleep similar to this build. It was the first time I'd ever fought someone using sleep. I thought it was super cool but I never thought to looking it up. I clicked on this video and literally see me fighting THE sleep build I randomly remember lol good fights my dude
which fighter were you, though? Just curious.
You make the absolute best thumbnails ever
for people who dont know you can parry the rivers of blood weapon art. also hammers don't bounce off shields and break posture pretty quick so if your a bleed build against a turtle just use varees hammers for free bleed damage while breaking posture
since sleep applies and stuns even if hit during a roll, like all status effects, using the St trina arrows, poison arrows, rot arrows, the rapid fire AOW as well as enchanted shot at low level is just insanely cruel. like 2-3 arrows and they are asleep. if they rush you, you can punish after every missed attack with another arrow or 2

Getting a parry that will proc sleep makes the sleep animation play after the recovery animation
Coincidence I get an ad for elden right on a video like this
something i just realized about sleep is that its better against people with high poise, because they dont get staggered out of the sleep animation like you would with low poise. not 100% sure if it actually works like that, but i recall from a little personal testing that i would get staggered out of the sleep animation with low poise, while a lot of the people in the video with high poise arent.

I personally find sleep and madness worse than bleed. The reason being that status effects still build through dodge rolls. So you can lose control of your character despite not even being hit.
I agree. I mean, bleed builds up through rolls too but you won’t actually receive damage from it at least. Honestly it’s crazy that FromSoft still does not have dedicated servers. Their online is fucking ARCHAIC.
Also, sleep proc guarantees you can attack them twice without them being able to roll. Once they fall asleep, you get a free 2 hit combo afterwards which can build up sleep too, almost infinite stunlock.
