I saw this as a little kid and thought the boys were clapping and cheering for the high note at the end. Turns out I was wrong. I found another funny part of the movie XD
Same lol. It's good rewatching films like these that you watched as a kid now as an adult because you get to understand some jokes that you didn't as a kid.
When you are a kid you only notice the comedy factor in this movie and look at scenes like this as boring, not so funny and unnecessary. Many years later as an adult you can fully appreciate and enjoy the beauty and art of cinema captured with scenes like this. Mel Brooks is a true cinema treasure.
Yeah this is one of the top movies I watched as an adult and asked my mom "WHy the hell did you let me watch that on repeat as a kid?" "Did you remember the 'adult' parts?" "Well not as adult parts no." "That's why." Add to the fact she and Dad would have been in their mid 20's at the time....makes perfect sense. Probibly a welcome break from Disney

I’ll never forget watching this in sophomore English with my best friend and we took it upon ourselves to turn it into our own personal Rocky Horror Picture Show. We sang along with the oohs, applauded, swayed and ahh’d with the Merry Men during this scene. We annoyed everyone and the teacher but we didn’t care because we were having fun. This was our end-of-the-year movie to watch in class and we were in a dead heat tie between this and School of Rock. My friend wasn’t in class that day and I said he would be the deciding vote and I knew he was going to vote for this. Best day of high school ever!
I revisit this video so often. The best musical number in the movie. I never get tired of her crown being blown off by the sheer force of his vocal power. 😂
This is probably the best scene of the most entertaining movie ever made. I grew up with this movie, and to this day, though I can speak and sing along, it makes me laugh. Precious.
Gets me every time how he scares her when he breaks into song. Also I'm not disappointed in the respect for this movie (judging from the like/dislike ratio).
what i like so much about comedy musicals is despite the obvious need to be funny, they never neglect to produce musical quality. this guy singing has an amazing voice.
Cary did a wonderful job of keeping up with the lyrics even though he didn't sing them himself. Best actor ... love Cary Elwes. Him and Andre the Giant RIP.
Had to look on here to experience the "full effect" of this scene.... saw the movie on TV today and they cut half of it out - left me wanting more! I need to find my DVD and watch the whole thing uncut! One of the funniest movies ever!! And I agree, they TOTALLY should make a stage production of this - wouldn't that be great!!??
Thanks for posting. Just what I needed for a Friday afternoon laugh. This moment from the movie suddenly popped into my head and I had to hear the song again!
Lmao. I like how they are walking by and just stop to become the chorus. It’s very hilarious. Also the shadow play for comedy bit is also a nice touch too XD

That's what I miss about movies from the 90s. They had jokes for both kids and grown ups
It was not a high note. It was a peak note. Haha
Love how she jumps when he starts singing. This movie is too funny.
I love how it makes fun of musical theater for just randomly breaking into song, this movie is hilarious!

singing in another person's operatic voice, mind you, like in so many movies but for serious... xD

@@urbations pick-up note - B-natural
I love how this is a silly comedic parody song but the singer legitimately BELTS it out with such power. Fantastic.
The singer is Arthur Rubin
That's part of the joke, old movies loved to break into operatic singing out of nowhere, it was often jarring and got turned to 11 here.

Arthur Rubin sang the hell out of this song. Such a powerful voice.

The lip syncing really sold the scene as well, Carey is a brilliant actor.
