I LOVE this song. For some reason, it almost always makes me teary-eyed. It’s SO BEAUTIFUL. And the crazy thing is it comes from a crazy comedy film. Still, it’s such an underrated, BEAUTIFUL classic.
I think it's supposed to parody Disney. :D You know how 90s Disney-movies have a version of a love song that is sung in the movies AND also a version featuring real singers.... Take for example Beauty and The Beast, A whole new world from Aladdin...
It was done as a series of matte paintings provided by Illusion Arts. Optical compositing tricks made these multiple paintings look like one continuous pullback. Illusion Arts also did the patriot arrow effects. And the effects company also worked with Mel Brooks on Spaceballs.

Beautiful song from an underrated & classic comedy. Smh, I’m mad ppl slept on this lullaby/duet though. I bet if BeBe & CeCe had covered this track it would’ve been more valued and appreciated. Crazy how you can really hear the vintage sounds of 90’s r&b all in the melody of the beat and even within all the instruments used for this instrumental. Ha ha my sister was the same as you about Cary Elwes which was one of the reasons how I saw this movie. I thought Cary Elwes did a great job in this movie he was very funny and sarcastic. In fact this whole movie was very funny and sarcastic. The other leading lady in this movie was pretty cute though. :)

Nice version but I much prefer the Debbie James version, it is more real, more raw, this is more like a casual pop song, pretty but too polished. Doesn't bring a tear, unlike the other one! (tear of beauty and happiness of course)

I am not sure if this was meant to be a serious song or just a parody of a lot of movies in the early 90's sang songs in this R&B adult contemporary duet style present in a lot of movies a the time. Irregardless, I found this song quite moving for a comedic movie...this version and the one song by "Marian" in the actual movie.

I love the way they did the end credits with the camera zooming further and further away from the castle as this awesome song plays.
