If you're going down the Japanese all female rock/metal band rabbit hole (which you should, because it is amazing), then you absolutely need to include the band "Lovebites". I can easily make the case that they are THE most musically talented metal band on the planet, male or female. They've released two music videos from their latest album which is as good a place as any to start.
      czcams.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/video.html&ab_channel=LOVEBITES
      czcams.com/video/4ImGA7cPyrs/video.html&ab_channel=LOVEBITES
Whereas Nemophila play a more modern "Nu-Metal" style, Lovebites have a sound heavily inspired by 80's classic metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer etc)

This is their latest original single. They have been around since 2019 but they are a supergroup so they have all been in the industry longer.
    Dissension
    Oiran live from Naon Yaon
    Revive
    Adabana
    Life
    That’s a start.
Japan has a relatively huge all-female metal scene and they are all superb.

    • @rolandkarlsson7072

@@RODRIEUROMANIAKO Babymetal is a special case. I really like them. But, at least for me, their heydays was 2010-2018, when they were young and also the original members. That's when all those crazy live Japanese concerts were made and (almost) all the good songs were written. Now they are grown ups and I personally see no big deal in what they do. The BxMxC, Pa Pa Ya and the Metali songs are very good. I have seen no crazy good live version of Metali yet. There is one for Pa Pa Ya.I am not sure for BxMxC. Moreover, Babymetal is an idol factory product. One sing and three dance and there is a backing band. The three girls do not write text, song or make arrangements of the music. When they were young they were adorable and I think they had some freedom to be themselves even if they were an idol group. And there was a very nice relation between them and their fans. But today? I would not feel like recommending them now. I actually saw them live a year ago and I did not see any signs of real enthusiasm. But, the old ones are insanely good.

With songs like this, Nemophila make sure that their RISE in the scene is unstoppable. 🔥🤘🏻
In general, what Japan has to offer in terms of rock/metal is the best the genre has heard in a long time. This is largely due to the fact that bands like Band-Maid, Nemophila, Trident, Asterism or Hanabie are not only extremely talented, but they also do not let themselves be pigeonholed. They are damn versatile and like to cross borders.
The catalog of Nemophila has a lot to offer. Original songs like 'Oiran' (Official Live) but also excellent (and visually funny) covers like 'Walk' by the Foo Fighters. :)
    Greetings from Germany. ✌🏻

Song to listen to from Nemophila (Neh-Moe-Fee-Lah): "Dissension" (original version not the US/English version), "Oiran" (Live version), "Hypnosis", "Revive", "Seize the Fate", "Monster", "Raitei", "Hozuki", "Style", "Life", "Adabana", "Sorai", "A Ray of Light", "Now I Here". Short version of their history; Mayu (lead singer) needed a backing band for a one off show, she got her friend Haraguchi-san (bass), who knew Saki (guitar on the right of the screen) from before and recruited her, who knew Murata Tamu (drums) and Hazuki (guitar left side of the screen). They got together for the show, vibed and decided to make The Mayu Session into a full time band Nemophila. They formed in 2019. They all come from other bands so Nemophila is something of a super group.

You said the name right first time. They are metal and heavy af, but they're also a lot more: hard rock, rap, pop, more metal, pop-punk, more metal etc etc. Totally my favourite band at the moment. Women from Japan and Indonesia have made music interesting again for me and I am very grateful.
    Mayu: clean/scream vocals
    Saki: guitar (on our right)
    Hazuki: guitar (on our left)
    Haraguchi-san AKA Hara-chan: bass
    Murata Tamu AKA Tamu: drums
Absolutely top musicians and they all sing backing vocs.
Please check out more of their stuff. I recommend 'Revive', 'Adabana', 'Raitei' and pretty much everything they've done! They also have some great covers of songs by other bands on their YT channel.

They might look young, but these are actually well respected professional musician. The drummer, Tamu Murata, is one of the most sought after session drummers in Tokyo. She has played in projects ranging from Pop, Jazz, Prog-Metal and Rock. She also does music for digital media like anime and video games. She's a drum instructor and has also hosted a drum based program. Tamu is a multi-instrumentalist, and plays; classical piano, xylophone, guitar, bass and jazz saxophone. Saki, the guitarist playing the grey sparkly "Killer" model guitar, has been playing guitar for about 15 years, and she directly or indirectly, has been influential in the wave of exceptional young female guitarist and female metal bands gaining popularity in Japan. I think she's been in around (8) bands and at one time (3) simultaneously. What's incredible about her is, non of her playing sounds repetitive. Each different band or project has had their own style, and she has been able to keep her playing fresh and unique. Saki also created this project called World Guitar Girls Collection which was a showcase of some of the best young female guitarist in Japan. The other guitarist, Hazuki, she's playing the blue guitar, is a technical wizard. She's well trained, precise and fluid with her playing. Hazuki also has been in a few major J-metal bands/project, plus she's also a very talented graphic artist. Then the bassist, Haraguchi-san, is an incredibly creative composer. You will probably see a lot of request for "Adabana", which is a song she wrote and has middle eastern influences. All the other song's she's written are unique, out the box, and not what you would expect from a "metal" band. Finally there's Mayu, who has a unique voice that can range from beautifully soft to a harsh growl. It was she who got the band together. Mayu was looking for musicians to play with her in a one off show she was performing, and she started with bassist Haraguchi-san, whom she knew for school. They then contacted Tamu, who was a popular session drummer, and Tamu in turn contacted guitarist Saki, who she knew from professional circles. Saki then was able to recruit the other guitarist, Hazuki. All the ladies already had their own thing going on at the time, but after a few rehearsal, they felt they had a good groove together and decided to make it permanent. Thus Nemophila was born. That's just a short bio on the band. There's a lot of content from them on YT and all of it is great. These ladies are all accomplished professional musicians who will surprise you with each new song you hear. I would recommend mixing in some of their live content because they are incredible live! Either way, its well worth making it through their entire catalogue. Hope you enjoy.

@@michelm.6033 I've created a playlist of a bunch of Nemophila content I found on YT that's mostly English captioned interviews, bts content and band member projects outside of Nemophila. There's close to 200 videos and counting and here's the link. czcams.com/play/PLg0XTTqh612tAHmZRwyVxKQtMoAAOy7UB.html Feel free to share it with anyone else, and I'm happy to try and answer any specific question you might have. I honestly just recently discovered Nemophila, Japanese music in general, and imo its the most creative scene happening right now. I remember when Marty Friedman, one of my favorite guitarist, quit Megadeth and moved to Japan for "pop" music. Everyone thought he was weird and crazy to do that. 20 years later, through YT I'm finally able to understand what he meant. I've been playing guitar casually since the late '80s and always been a lover of music. I find what's happening in Japan so interesting because not only is it fresh and creative, the composer are also very young. Its not only metal, there are a lot of pop, funk, and jazz players too. And make not mistake, these aren't kids going through some garage band faze. They are educated professional musicians. There's also this couple degrees connection between them, and everyone gets along. Its like everyday I'm discovering someone new and extraordinary. Anyway, sorry about the ramble. Enjoy the playlist and I'll be happy to attempt to answer any direct question you have. I might even be able to direct you to a specific video within the playlist that has your answer. Also, if your interesting in any other genre, like drummers, instrumentalist or something else, feel free to browse my favorites on my channel. I have a few Japanese bands and musicians mingled in there. I was in the process of creating a dedicated playlist for Japanese artist, but it grew too large so I'll need to break it up. Enjoy.

Ne-mo-Fee-La. Mayu has at least 100 voices. Saki, you're right, is one of Japans top guitarist and Murata Tamu, drums is an unreal drums and is in demand as session drummer. By the way, did you notice that Saki and Hazuki are playing 7 string guitars.
There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands in Japan with about half are all female.
Next - "Sorai" & Seize the Fate.
New Lovebites - "Holy War" & "Swan Song" with Chopin Etude.
New Unlucky Morpheus - "Black Pentagram" & "Angreifer" you'll love Jill!
    Have Fun

Well if you are starting down the all female Japanese metal bands hole you have a long way to travel. Nemophila is a super group composed of great musicians who have been around quite awhile. They look and sound like your more typical metal band but the level of musicianship is world class ( that is the only way to survive the J/Metal scene). Lovebites is another of the best examples and if you want try Scream for Me LIVE to get a taste of the insane talent in the band. Other great bands await but be warned those of us who went down this rabbit hole before you have been in it for years with no end in sight with the talent coming out of the Japanese music scene.

You got their name dead on - well done! Ne-mo- phil-ah! They have a ton of great tracks, but try “Dissension” (original version - not the US version).

There's quite a lot to get through with this band considering that they are only about 3 years old. The live version of Sorai is a lot of fun and a lot of hair. Do look at a band called DIH from Korea and their song BREAKOUT they are another all girl band and so is Hades try their song Bring it on.

I really like their song "Style" czcams.com/video/kDaezMfprq0/video.html&ab_channel=NEMOPHILA
It's a very groovy Nu-Metal track. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I love it.

Japanese metal/rock scene is fire, especially the women groups. Try Lovebites next ( HolyWar, Thunder Vengeance, Judgement Day, Stand and Deliver- hell all the catalog), More Nemophila (Dissenion, Revive 1st) and then for a WTF moment try Hanabie (Neet Game, We love Sweets and Pardon Me). More Band- Maid will not disappoint either. The Japanese rabbit hole is deep.
