- VAN BUILD 07: Building Wheel Well Boxes
After gutting and polishing the van interior (Van Build 01 & 02), insulating and installing my sub-floor and vinyl floor (Van Build 03 & 04), installing my Maxxair fan (Van Build 05) and DIYing some custom insulated window covers (Van Build 06). This video I actually get to start building out my van! While I intended to build out my bed frame, plans change, and I'll be building out my wheel well boxes.

After living abroad in Barcelona, Spain for a year, moving back home to South Louisiana, getting a new job, quarantining through the pandemic and taking adventures while I can, I decided to purchase a van to build and renovate with the goal of traveling around the US van life style as a solo female traveler. This is completely new to me, I am super excited to see where this journey will take me, and I am definitely learning new things along the way.

I love how you framed out the wheel well 1st with 1x2s. Great idea. Gonna give it a try!
Thank you!!
Run your air condition hose under the bed or right out the box and put a vent.
Yep, that's the plan!
I litterly just binge watched every video and absolutly LOVE IT!!
awe! thank you so much!
Cant wait to it finished
Same!
You could use the space in the wheel well box for storage or putting your electrical system inside of it. Just seems like there is some space available to use and we know vans are already small as is. So with want to maximize your space
I have some future plans for using the large wheel well for some extra storage, keeping it simple for now! haha
Relax
Your doing Great
Thanks!
Hi Sarah, I like your ways of thinking things through, it’s a process of perfection. Keep up your good work. Hopefully weather has been good for you. That’s good you’re also getting a little help from family.👍🏽. See y’all next video. 🙏🏽👍🏽✌🏽💛🎃🇨🇱
Thank you!
Very good job! I like the wind chime in the background.
Thanks lol lots of extra noises in the background of my videos
@@SaySarah lol as long as it isnt thunder (rain) lol keep the build vids coming sarah
Good work.
Those boxes will give some nice support if you plan on mounting the bed on top of them. ✌
Good job Sarah...sturdy build....if the rest of your build is like that then nothing is going to fall off or break 💪
Thanks. I need to do the basic wheel hub box cover. You made it look simple, but I still have to get the bits I need and actually do the work!
It was definitely one of the simpler tasks of the build haha but I didn't find a lot of people had wheel well box videos out there! I saw some didn't even chose to cover theirs!
Hii. Found ya thru Bart Bourg .. I’ll be watching from Bristol Virginia.
Awesome, thank you so much! Welcome!
Good job, wheel well covers look great.
Thanks!
Hiya... Wheel wells look great.. Should have plenty of space for the electrical could have some on the end like the displays so you can see them easier... Enjoying the build...
Thank you!
😘❤️👍
You are doing a good job
Thank you!
💖💖💖💖
Hi Sarah dave here just a suggestion here in u k we have fablon sheets that you can put on windows you might have same but different name.
A sheet on back windows like mirror effect you can see out but noone can see in just a thought love.
I'll keep that in mind! It's just tinted right now!
Hi Sarah great to hear from you hope you safe and well and van coming along great
Have a wonderful Christmas and hope 2023 brings you joy and start of a new adventure.
Lv from Dave in the u.k
Your saving😅a lot of money doing it your self
Hi Sarah. Thank you for your videos.
Question: can you show where and how you vented your two ac pipes I see here going up out of the top of the video? Thank you!! Lynne
hi! thanks for your support! So, although this video has posted monthsss ago I still have yet to secure them haha
So there are the 2 hoses and each splits, so 4 ends total. In the next video (08) I build my bed frame. Once I start wrapping everything up, which should be soon, I'll run them along the 2x4 of my bed frame that'll be under the mattress and have 3 of them come out in to the van from the face of the bed that I will put up. I will have 1 of them airing out below the bed to make sure the electrical stays cool as well.
Hope that makes sense!! You'll have to watch the bed frame video (08) to maybe understand what I'm talking about better!
What did you wrap around the well? Is that reflectix? Some sort of sound dampener?
I used Fat Mat sound deadener amzn.to/46xkOnJ
as well as the reflectix insulation on top! amzn.to/3GjdMZ4
🇧🇷Você tem Instagram? Está ficando perfeito o seu trabalho nessa Van ! ( Eu acho muito lindinho do jeito que você fala!)
Love what you do but hate the music.
Just a little advice. The way you built the wheel well boxes is a waste of alot of space. In a van build there isn't very much space and it is all valuable. I know it's your first build so I am just offering advice not criticism. Maybe find some videos of how others build them. I don't do videos or I would show you how I do them in my builds. Good luck and I am enjoying watching you do it mostly by yourself.
Are you doing this by yourself?!? Entirely? I love you kindred spirit!!!! And of course I'm absolutely mean doing the journey by yourself as well. I was kind of dragging my heels today keyword was but now Im literally sitting on my EekOhNoLine. 2001 E150, not exactly my choice but you might understand the name if you didn't already. Im waiting for my pack of extruded aluminum to arrive, but I don't know whether or not to try to keep it uncomfortable last bet I keep on trying to modify to fit to my liking are you sad aluminum to make a new frame altogether much lighter and that gives me new ideas altogether. But you are certainly right a lot of ideas don't pan out and it costs. "Oh that's level enough..." Thats 4 (more soundcore pro floor plank boxes) but those damn wheel wells have been plaguing me. I wanted them to have a purpose not just be covered and just lack space in the drawer from a box. Beginning to think I have no choice. I'm not just going to subscribe I'm actually going to watch all of your episodes because you're doing this all by yourself and that's the only reason.... ok not the only one. Way to go! Its highly motivating love for me to finish. It'll just be my Shorkie Tucker Bear. I'd love to chat and share ideas but I honestly don't know how to do this whole CZcams thing consistently so i think I can only just say "hi I'd like to chat if you're interested" I have nobody to bounce ideas off of really so either way it's been awhile since you made this so I can't wait to spend the day watching all your bids and I hope that everything went well and it's going well
Not 100% by myself, I do have some help sometimes! lol thanks for your support! hope you enjoy the rest of my videos!
