Cemetery gates is one of the greatest songs ever written
KaldDodeGitarist same
Best metal song of all time
The Sleep for me
My cousin is a jazz fan and he even agrees
The Whole Song Is A Solo!
"10's" is a personal favorite of mine.
The Solo for that song is orgasmic like floods
Best solo ever in my opinion
10s, floods, and regular people
Floods, 10's, Hard Lines Sunken Cheeks, Cemetery Gates and The Sleep are his 5 best solos.
@@supermastater I agree 100%.
finally someone who loves "Regular People"
Thanks for not choosing Walk
What did you say?
have some Respect dude
j-just walk man
Walk on home, boy
+Chris Day Walk
03:06 "It's almost like heavy metal Stevie Ray Vaughan"
Perfect analogy of Dimebag's playing style!
5 mins alone is so badass
Breaks my neck every time
Regular people is one of my favorite songs too not many people seem to talk about it
They don't talk about it because every street wise son of a bitch knows DONT FUCK WITH THIS! I love Pantera lol
anyone else play it on the low frets instead of how he does?
Mike Merifield walk on home boy! Pantera was awesome.
most regular people would say, its cod, every street wise son of a chef knows, so nutritious......cooking hostile
It was never played live
Love the 10,000 Days poster!
Incitatus he does lots of tool videos
Half the comments are saying "tone sucks" the other half are like "i want this tone!!!" Gotta love the comments
Is that a pizzagram? Ha! Hilarious
Dime will always be the god of groove, bounce and heavyness. So unique both with the riffs and solos. The absolute master of metal guitar playing in my book.
Art of shredding dude!
I paused your video right as you said Cemetery Gates.
I have watched a lot of your videos and I have learned from many of your Tool videos. But out of all of the videos I've watched, your passion for guitar playing has truly come out during this video.
Thank you for being as passionate as you are. Music is an amazing thing and it's the only thing that we can prove is real, (look it up! it's true) and you really make it easy for those who are either just starting out or already seasoned veterans to appreciate our extremely invested hobby.
Cool video man! Regular People and Slaughtered, 2 of my underground favs too! Rock on🤘🏼
Regular People and Slaughtered are my two favorite Pantera songs. Great to see someone else also having them on their top list.
Dimebag actually did UP strokes on the cowboys riff
yep, played the whole thing reverse... intro and main riff also starts with upstroke rather than downstroke
@@NelsonJeanGaasch never knew that part, that is how I always played it
Great work! I've been watching Dime's lost lessons and they are turning out to be some of the most influential lessons I've ever had. I'm totally sure why.
This video I think does a great job of adding to what's already out there in the right. In fact, it saves me the time of starting a mission to make my own "how to play like dimebag" video because there is one here that, while good, sounds nothing like Dimebag.
His one-fret-short bend-up technique is a big one tool. And don't forget hick bends lol
Awesome list. One of the few list I've ever seen that I agree with.
An ode to the greatest all around guitarist of all time. RIP Dime.
REGULAR PEOPLE!!! It's long been one of my favs. What you say is so true. It's hardly ever mentioned but such an awesome riff/song. So underrated! Thanks for reprising this.
Yes! The second half of Far Beyond Driven is monstrous as well! Everyone always mentions the first half (all the singles)
glad you mentioned him as a great song writer not just the king of riffs! that can not be overstated enough!
This tone is Disgustingly good i need that!
hey axe thanks for confirming that HARMONIC THING ! I was beginning to wonder if that was some kind of gift a person has to have or what.I will now go back to trying thanks to YOUR lesson😁
Saying the words "five minutes alone" gives me goosebumps. An absolutely brilliant song.
I learned many of these on drums now I am learning various stringed instruments. Lol. It lead me here.
Great tutorial.
so glad you chose regular people, such a great riff
Great vid im learning the harmonics on cemetery gates.
Good stuff man. Loved the selections of songs!
great job man.I think u do the best lessons on CZcams.I actually subscribed to u 4 times
Great video man! love those songs! There are many Pantera's songs that I love, one of my favs is Yesterday Don't mean shit, great riff, clasic metal, but great and powerful!
Awesome guy and awesome video!
I couldn't help but enjoy that you related Dime's playing to SRV's. When I was growing up, my mom playing SRV's music a lot. So, I listened to him first. And when I was in 4th grade, I was introduced to Pantera. Cowboys From Hell and Far Beyond Driven were the first two albums I listened to a majority of the time. It wasn't until a few years later that I picked up the similarities. (After all. How could a guitarist from Texas not know who Stevie was and be influenced by him?) I'm glad you could associate Dime's playing in a similar way like I have.
I don't know why I think about it, but Becoming probably has important riffs as well - not to mention their heaviness for a short incredible song. The opening and the Chorus riffs are amazing!
Love your videos bro keep making em!
How I learned of pinches was associating distances with the picking hand and the fretting location. Also. Causing a disruption with the side of the thumb that allows the tightening of the vibration of the string at both points of impact.
I really like your approach of playing the riffs.
I like your video and appreciate it. Thanks
This lesson came out of left field but I'm digging it. Dimebag is the man
Ikr I was lik "whaaaaa"
great lesson man, thanks a million!
The first time i heard cowboys from hell i instantly thought of a metal Stevie ray vaughan hahaha thats awesome im not the only one
found your channel tonight
subscribed
thanks for the work you do.
Most extreme disclaimer before a lesson ever!! 🤣🤣 great vid btw 🙂 thanks
The pinching/harmonics done at mid-neck worked for Dime on Cemetery Gates because of the neck on the Dean and the way Dime had it set up. Either way works - whatever works better for your rig, go with it.
frankly you play very tight. and love it
Awesome vid!!!
Awesome! Im with you I play them differently than Dime and some other people. Pantera was one of the first bands that really made me feel empowered to learn it differently than what you were suppose to but some of that stuff aint easy for me the way he did it and its definitely a good skill that I still use. Everytime I learn a new song I always think is this the only way I can pull it off? Great Lesson
you should combine Hendrix solos with some of dimes riff and believe me you'll literally shit your pants. I've done it and the amount of riffs that I made blow me away
brilliant. thanks bro
Cemetery Gates is one of my all time favorite songs, R.I.P. Dimebag
dude I could chill and talk music with you all day
Cheers!
Great job... just subscribed.
Great job!! I really enjoyed this =)
awesome 10,000 days artwork in the back!
i also play cemetery gates and cowboys from hell in that "open" position. but your right about he harmoics on cemetery, they sound way raunchier on the early frets.
Cowboys from hell goes over the E-A and D-string with the A-note actually being a powerchord instead of just a single note.
Sort of like:
D|------------2
A|------------0
E|0-3-0-3
And the three note part at the end of the riff is a hammer on sequence on the A-string(0,1,2) over to the D-string(Which should ring out simultaneously.).
Also, only the G-note is actually palm muted.
thanks, man. wasn't sure about the hammer on.
he did it wrong
really good!!
very good video I like it a lot
Rise is another great one, along with War Nerve.
I love regular people too!
I don't play guitar, but I'm really glad you had cemetery gates on here. possibly their best song IMO
the only thing harder than playing these songs is teaching them. great job and playing!
physco holiday, that's another good one :)
1. Heresy
2. Live In A Hole
3. Hollow
4. Shedding Skin
5. Suicide Note II
Over and Out......my fav Pantera song
You are kickass dude!! Pantera is god.
excellent work axeofcreation! I would like to see your work on Megadeth, Testament and Slayer, even in Lost Society.
awesome!
AWESOME! Do more dude. You've earned a sub :D
Great, welcome to the channel!
love the channel! one suggestion I have is make playlist. like put all your Tool guitar lessons in a list then all Tool bass lessons and so on...you are an amazing player thank you! you have taught me so much!
Thank you! They actually are all in lists. I have a tool list, tt guitar, tt bass, songwriting, 7 string, 8 string, time signature. All in playlists
+axeofcreation I'm sorry I didn't see them... no I feel stupid... lol ✌
+Jayson Stark no worries. I appreciate the feedback.
thats so true with the pinch harmonics! It took me so long to get it and now my picking style changed I have to try consciously to not do it, especially on solos 😁
how long did it take I'm starting to do it slowly but I'm squealing lol
+Keysha West after about 2 weeks of doodling to the point that I could do it on demand....... I don't know why but I find it way easier on the bridge pickup!?! plus my girlfriend doesn't approve haha
bunglebro oh nice. I was practicing it last week and finally got it down too!!! I do it and add that hard bends over it and damn my guitar screams like a horse lol. I dont use the bridge pickup but I'll try it out today.
ALWAYS on the bridge pu for proper artificial harmonics. Volume and gain to make it sound good. Dime was the master of crazy noises...and he always kept it musical and tasteful
Could you do another Pantera video, because this was great! Maybe include the groovy riff from primal concrete sledge
Thank you! That breakdown riff and shred down is sick!
Happy birthday dime
Good video bro. Hey question, what is with the bands on the top of your guitar? Are you using that to mute open ringing?
Took and pantera are my favorite bands
Any chance you could do a video like this on Chuck Shuldiner? I’d love to hear you go over some of his techniques and what made his playing special. Thanks.
It would be sweet to have a trivium lesson!
If there's 1 MUST KNOW riff from Pantera, it's gotta be the breakdown/outro riff from I'm Broken. It is so simply perfect.
killer outro for sure. Hard to sum up anyone with a just a few riffs. I could make this video 3 time over.
Where can i buy the thing you have near your headstock ? And btw very nice video , LOVE PANTERA!!! GREAT RIFFS ! R.I.P Dime
tool poster in the background is sick
hey dude i have trying to play cowboys from hell almost about 2 months and i am still having trouble and i blame myself for not practicing hard enough so what should i do
I'm only here because the thumbnail looked like Hugh Mungus.
Nathan You just assaulted me!!!
Nathan such a hugh mungus guitar tone
Papa bless
Holy shit he does 😂 didn't even notice that.
Thought it was sal vulcano from impractical jokers
you gotta add "medicine man", thats another very underrated song from Pantera, and that break down riff is dope \m/
The whole second half of that album seems neglected.
i totally agree, thanks for sharing your guitar knowledge man! \m/
Please make a video about your gear(amp, guitars, pedals)
Regular People always gets looked over but that song is beastly
A lot of dislikes by people who didn't get you were doing a tutorial rather than a sound demo. I still think your sound is cool, cause I know how plugging into something digital can cap the frequency spectrum.
what speakers do you use with your set up? I also have a mac and am thinking of getting into computer apps for guitar
It's tough to pay attention while looking at that beautiful fretboard wood.
Kiesel Guitars are the real deal imho.
Stellar!
I love the parabola picture in the back behind the computer
Nice tone
Nice Alex Grey poster in the back.
Floods has some amazing riffs
Good vid i have 12 guitars now but have had about 30 over the years, never have i seen a Kiesel guitar . Theres a dimebag signature Dean guitar at a local music pawn shop here in winnipeg for $499 lookas great ex cond. always wondered if there was any Budgie influence with dimebag im prob the only one that hears it .
Can you please discuss the slaughtered main riff (into/verse). I've never been able to figure it out. There is so much gain on the recording it's impossible to make out. No tab i've ever seen has sounded right to me when I played it. Please help a brother out!
Bit of a nooby qustion but what is that wrapped around your headstock? I know it dampens the string buzz but I've only seen people use hair ties. What is the name of that product you are using?
Instant like!
Since u did this and you've done an Adam Jones sound tutorial, are you planning to do one on Dime as well?
Regular People is also my fav song
Are u playing through a £20 practise amp?
hey bro just a question what is that thing on the nut of the guitar??? is it a capo what's the purpose????
killer video man. actually learned quite a bit. how long have you been playing? ....R.I.P Dimebag
Huge pantera fan. No one should even try recreate the riffs, it's never the same
What is that black and red cloth band around the nut?
