Dr Sal.. thank you for the shout out.. I'm Captain Andy's Admin MOD at the MinorcanMullet and we appreciate everything you do!
Yep, MM's been doing a great job of covering this event.
We have been watching you too! Keep up the good work!
Great work you guys!! 👍🏼🙏
Dr Salvage jekyl and mr hyde
No necromancers
I really appreciate your endorsement of the creators you use for your analyses. Very few CZcams people give proper credit to their sources. Thanks for your integrity.
I appreciate that!
No way feel the exact same way kick ass yall
Sir I totally respect your knowledge, your commentary, is totally enjoyable to hear and to listen to as well. Thanks
Well said @ngreen1596 👌
Sal, will this be a change in the CHANNEL and it be MANDITORY that low draft tugs accompany all ships out of the CHANNEL/berths!????
Chief MAKOi, chief engineer on similar sized ships, did a great CZcams video on the NTSB report just on engine room reported facts. Very informative.
yes he did....
Thought I had lost a bet on the generator problem being fuel related, but maybe not. The black smoke ?. Why did the electric breaker trip ? If the generators are running to fast or slow the voltage and Hz would be affected, blowing the breaker. That's what Chief Makoi said I believe
I like his videos.
The real Makoi
I've been binge watching Chief Makoi. I like watching him.
It’s OK man. My dad was once told he was misspelling his name when he went to renew his drivers license. He was 75 years old and had been misspelling it all his life. Apparently. Thanks for your expertise, DMV!
I have no marine background or experience whatsoever. BUT I really enjoy your videos and those of Chief Makoi ... ... What I REALLY APPLAUD is your supporting and mentioning other channels ... ... very few CZcamsrs do that. You're a gentleman ... thank you for your content ... ...
You continue to be an excellent example of how the internet rapidly surfaces the most effective reporters - you and your go to guys - have emerged as the top reporters of a black swan event. Your humility and good judgement are a major component of your effectiveness and can’t be schooled into a journalism student. Those qualities arise from life experience and maturity. Sometimes even journalists develop them!😮
It is truly amazing how much work they have accomplished. Thanks you Sal.
Truly a remarkable cleanup/recovery effort. Kudos to their team!
Thanks again for your excellent update and for giving credit to Capt Andy, Chief Makoi. and SteamGuy.
I drove down there today (Sunday) once the sun finally came out. I have a secret spot at TradePoint Atlantic that you can look almost 90 degrees at. It’s still so sad and eerie to go there. I was 10 when the bridge opened, my Uncle worked on it when he was young. He still tells stories about it. Great channel Sal, thanks! 👍😎
They have already said it’s going to Norfolk after seagirt for repairs.
this Baltimore resident thanks you for incredibly clear explainations throughout this process.
MARCH 26 Dali crashed but is to be refloated and docked by MAY 20! Simply marvelous and in less than 60 days! Thanks Sal for the update. Salvage firms and government agencies involved all get an A+ for effort in my book. Thanks for sharing Sal.
Pretty sure Joe Biden will take personal credit for refloating Dali and cleaning up the mess!
Sal, You do a GREAT job!!!!! Thanks for keeping us posted! 👍⚓
I have watched both Steam Man and Chief Makao excellent explanation of the NTSB Prel. Report, thanks to you referring to their channels previously.
Also Minocan Mullet has captured the hard work these salvage teams are doing, many times in horrible conditions!
Hey Sal. I have really been enjoying your channel even before this incident. I also enjoy listening to different accents from around the English speaking world and idiosyncrasies of speech. Love the way you pronounce “forward”. Makes me smile every time you say it. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks Sal. Kudos to the folks clearing this mess. Incredible work.
Thank goodness you have brought back the Lego Globe 🌎.. I’m lost without lines of Longitude & Latitude … plus there is something very reassuring about it being in the background..like the world 🌎 is okay …!
The earth is flat. Period.
Also I am loving the red lego stud highlighting the location thats being talked about!
@@briankillian5248That is the best proof for a flat earth I’ve seen. Just say it is and not provide any justification.
The LEGO Globe is the best compromise between reality and the flat-Earthers.

*_Chief Makoi did a great job on his latest video with the charts he made, helped to follow the ships systems a lot mor easily. I've been subbed to his channel for many years now._*
I'm impressed by how quickly they are getting this mess cleaned up 😅!!!
Wow Sal, I followed you from literally the start and now you have nearly 300k subscribers.
Awesome Job mate,
Dr Sal thanks so much for supporting my friend Andy from the Minorcan Mullet U both are class acts been watching u along with Andy since u guys started I also love Chief Makoi God bless you and thanks I would love to meet you someday
A good deck officer knows what he does know and what he does not. A great deck officer knows to trust the ones that do know their jobs well.
Excellent description and it applies to every profession.
The world is full of “experts” Sal, most of them sharing their “wisdom” on social media. It’s a pleasure to see that you don’t get involved in responding to their crap! Love your work mate, please keep up the good work. You have lots of happy followers over here in Australia.
This is an AMAZING POST,the pictures are so clear. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Great explanation, thanks. Been following Capt Andy since he started coverage & so glad he showed up in my feed. I am a local & thankful I don’t need to commute.
I appreciate the high quality output that you and other CZcams creators produce, which would only have been possible through TV studios a few years ago.
It's replacing the bridge where all of the issues will pop up. People are already demanding a name change. That's when the politicians will get involved and the opportunities for graft will begin.
Yes, let's rewrite history just like the Soviets, Communist Chinese, etc., etc., etc.
Thanks, Sal, for keeping use updated on the MV Dali and how we can keep up with the relevant news. You do such a fine job of guiding your viewers to other sources, which might offer more specific facts! Your explanations are easy to understand. Many thanks for such wonderful CZcams channel.
Thanks Sal (Sam) I’ve really enjoyed your reporting here on the Dali and started watching your channel after the accident. Also have been watching some of your other content. Top notch…I think your comments on Chief Makoi and Minorcan Mullet spot on. They’ve been doing some bang up content on Dali. Jeff Ostroff channel has some good video from other sources though he isn’t in the business and has acknowleged that
The sheer speed of this operation has been utterly mind-boggling.
Outstanding resource! All the best from Bucharest.
I'm anticipating Sal's own B/S free Refloat-video to be released with excitement!
Thank you again for your reporting of the Dali. The reporting over the past months have been clear and concise without the drama.
Very happy with your coverage and appreciate your sources as well. Best all 'round coverage with the total picture in sight.
Sal, I've been following your channel ever since the catastrophic event. Always great content perfectly delivered. Love the shirts! 👍
Thanks, Busy Hawaiin shirt!!
Great update on this Sal ..! Beautiful to see the TUGS from McAllister and Moran bringing the now-infamous MV DALI to the dock... what a mess..
Thanks for your clear explanation of what is a complex and tricky situation. Great stuff Sal.
Sal, thanks for the Chief MAKOi link! By happenstance, I watched his "Do You Have What It Takes to be a Seafairer" video which so impressed me that I commented the following that I would like to confer on you as well:
"I found your channel because I live in Baltimore & used to drive over the Francis Scott Key bridge. I have been unexpectedly touched by your impassioned testimony of a life aboard ship. You are a man of outstanding character. The maritime profession is better for having you as a member. Fair winds following seas, my friend!"
I am a devotee of facts, data, analysis, & open review in incident analysis, which you convey in abundance. Thanks for all you do!
Also, since I'm a little older than you, I will take the liberty of stressing some urgency in fixing that name pronunciation problem you have asap. You likely have more years to atone for than you have left. Time is running out! 🤣🤣🤣
Take care!
Alan
I appreciate all your content Dr. Sal! Keep up the great work.
Enjoying your channel info opens an
New world to me in Canada
The Dali anchor/anchor chain will have to be cut, as the bow Dali Anchor windlasses are smashed and under a "few" tons of concrete.
Time to get your popcorn popped.
Just saw the refloat, move and docking of the Dali. Great Job!
Thank you for the update! What I got from Minorcan Mullet, along with a very interesting history lesson on the origin of that name, is that prep will begin at 0200 hours. Too early for me but now that the main show will be at high tide about 0500 hours I'm hoping to join MM to boost the viewership since he will have been up for 3 hours.
These guys are amazing at what they have done.
Gas line is decommissioned until replacement we've heard.
Excellent thank you for posting all the interesting informative information on your CZcams channel
With regards to that gas line: they probably replaced the gas with water. Nice and simple. No worries of explosions, contamination, readily available, cheap, and expendable. You wouldn't need to pressurize it much as it is fairly incompressible.
Gas lines like gas = pressurized inert gas is better and the same control/monitor systems. With a liquid under pressure with a gas, they might mix under pressure and even have a chemical reaction. + corrosion issues with water/oxygen.
I'd expect them to fill the pipe with nitrogen. It behaves similarly to natural das (mostly methane) but is mostly inert. No need to modify the control systems, pumps, etc. And when they return the line to service, you'll see less quality gas for a while (due to the N2 content, but it can be pumped into the normal gas lines as soon as the CH4 content is high enough to be flammable again.
great progress. thanks for the continuing updates.
Thanks for the update. Great stuff.
Thank you!
Thanks for the update.👍
Well detailed info, thank you.
Thanks Sal for the video
Great job! Thank you! Love you channel
🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁 THE LION WAS HERE 🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁 No. 1300 -----> Your LION was sans computer over the weekend: Ergo I was using a laptop that had not all of my lynx onboard. Good work on the Dali, your reporting was the best!
Simply, another superb video!
You are so worth listening to... Thank you!
Thanks you do informative explanations
Awesome break down videos.. kudos to everyone in baltimore 2 month that is amazing
Thanks Sal
I've been watching Project Brupeg. 100% Dali will be repaired and put back into service. All the photos and video make her look like she was well maintained - with the one major notable exception. I'm curious though if they will engage the main engine during the transit to see if the fault is still present.
watching from New Zealand
Thank you for the update Sal, have been watching this since it occurred, and across just the one channel, and a couple others you've suggested (was already a fan of Chief Makoi), but have found your coverage to be the most accurate, well delivered and in a way that I'm sure most people will find understandable, have enjoyed seeing the guests you've had on throughout the last couple months as well, all of them very well versed in the Sal method of delivery to the common folk, very grateful for it all.
Thank you for all you've done and do, it's much appreciated and very well received, a true credit to you good sir.
Cheers from Sydney Aus!!!!
Great video Sal!
Thanks as always.
Thanks for sharing your experience to explain what is going to happen tomorrow.
Thank you so much. appreciate your input. Glad I found your page. Flagg
Thanks for the Up Date and links !! ;-)
Thank you Sal!
Thanks for the update. Those other channels are great watches as well. Have been watching Chief Makoi and the Captain for a while now.
Best video that I’ve seen yet, giving a better sense of where cranes and barges are. Your explanation is so informative, thank you.
Thank you.
Great video
Unified Command: DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK THE WEATHER !!
Love that Sal has Easter Island marked on his Lego globe
Great info
Many thanks and Great update Sal.
The pics of DALI as see from its waterline paint, I would believe that while the vessel is grounded in the bow section, the resultant trim down by head could be anything like to 3 to 4 feet or perhaps much more. This is just a guess from the pics and my experience.
Such a physically strained condition (bending moments and shear force) for such a long period of almost 60 days can or may have put the vessel's steel girder to extra-ordinary stress. Such a stress in the steel girder is not easy to detect by Classification society experts as well. This could cause trouble to the vessel in future when the ship (as a girder) is subjected to the stress and strain in a heavy seaway.
Keep fingers crossed that they (Class NK) are able to detect and conclude whether the vessel has incurred long term damage or not. And then suggest appropriate action :)
Love your work Sal stay after it good man
thanks Sal
Thanks!
😊😊😊 I understood most of that! Grazie.
How is the anchor gonna be "released"? Cut the chain? The windlass looks completely destroyed.
I would guess cut.
Cut or every 90 feet there is a detachable link that can be removed.
They're pulling it up via crane a bit at a time.
@@wgowshipping Didn't know about the detachable links. Thanks! I just know anchor chains are BIG, and if they're gonna do this tomorrow, they better start cutting.
One of the large cranes should easily be able to handle the anchor once the chain is cut free from the Dali. Not sure how many feet were deployed, it could be that the crane will have to retrieve the chain and anchor in more than one lift. Fairly simple compared to the other salvage work which has been ongoing.
Excellent report Professor..! Looking forward to seeing move. You doing a live feed with a “play by play” type reporting (maybe even a few friends joining you)…, although a 3-hour live feed might get boring for you and some viewers, as geeky as I am about this, I would have my peanuts and popcorn at hand, and settle in for the long haul.
Thank you sir.
Sal,no one on CZcams has better shirts than you!respect!
Knowing the color of the water that flows into the harbor by the Light Street Pavilion, I find it hard to believe that they are worried about water that dumps into the water. Just sayin as a local. I'll be up early in the morning, hope I catch some of it before work with Captain Andy.
They will have it all open - I told you they never cancelled Fleet Week in June.
Can't wait for your update on this.
Thank you so very much sir you do a great job sir
Dr. Sal is a class act
Awesome Dr. Sal. I hear they are starting EDT 2am local time...and high-tide around EDT 5:43am.
MM will have live coverage too (MM was there today too). Here we go !
...also BTW...
P.S. I just learned the *N/S Savannah* (built 1961) is in Baltimore, is it inside this port area ?
That would be an awsome related review.
All nuclear fuel was removed from the ship in October of 1971.
Only a few years ago its reactor was removed (2022)...so has been there for a while cooling down.
thanks
Thanks for the update. I was aware of a little of this but not the details or bigger picture.
so funny you are supposedly saying your name wrong. i love this channel, and i live in the midwest usa miles away from water. i still find it to be a fascinating subject, and i thank you for all you do. peace.
He is, to a native Italian speaker. But Sal is 100% 'merican and can say it however he wants.
giving some credit to Unified Command - as a command structure - seems to have worked well - butt also graphics, such as at 6:48 say "by John Lloyd" - who is Gen. John Lloyd, the North Atlantic Division Commander for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - assume then we know who is in charge of Unified Command or at least the designated voice or at least the designated voice for these cool graphics? - excellent vid as always - thanx Prof. Sal
I’m just a ‘John Q’ citizen. My level of ‘expottice’ is watching CZcams videos…… Your production skills are so evident! Excellent videos, sound, topics, and knowledge! You share the glory and I’m sure the blame (if there is any). Your variety of subjects bears witness to your immense knowledge. I hope Trump reaches out to you for a cabinet level position!! We need ‘doers’ not political favorites……. Thank you👋💪👍👌
Trump could use a better legal team......not nautical knowledge
Hey from Tennessee.
Marvelous
This whole event is fascinating. All the pieces and assets that can be mustered to work on the problem. I am ignorant of technology involved so it all appears like dramatic overkill. But these people are getting this difficult job done. It might be interesting to contrast this whole thing with the recovery of the Pearl Harbor losses. Again, I don't know the tech involved but it is remarkable to follow the details. Kudos to everyone involved.
I am at a point that I do not know, what I do not know
But I do know where to go to so I can find out the answers for everything in the wold wide shipping trade
and that is you Dr. Sal & your posse of fellow mariners
