Lets be real. If Choji and Neji died in this arc this would've been so impactful. Instead they killed Neji in the most useless way. If the replaced Neji with some npc ninja in the war arc to protect Naruto it would've been the same.

Neji's death was always so stupid to me especially since he was the only one of the original 12 to have died. His death was only to show that "Hah hah Naruto got too overconfident in the war. He should've listened to Itachi la la..." Neji should've lived his arc was perfect

@@LegendsForever206 Since they had pretty much zero relevant screen time after this, so if they died here it wouldn't have made much of a difference. I think what OP is saying is that if they died here their characters would have at least a worthy ending, instead of the ending they got now

I know that the author has planned for Lee and Neji to die in the first season but before the chapter was about to drop the publishers were against it because those 2 were fan favorites so he had to change it. By that point he already mapped out a lot of Shippuden which is why we don't see those 2 develop whatsoever or have any screentime.
Same goes for Choji most likely..
The reason this felt like an actual death, and Neji's didn't was because he actually achieved his goal of getting more friends. Till now Choji was shown at a liability, now he got a major W, and if he died it would have made sense. Glad it didn't happen tho.
I never wanted neji to die but if he had to it shouldâve been in this arc. The way he died in the war was so useless and didnât feel impactful at all.
@@aryanakiraj5049 They only killed him off because they wanted a dramatic death to happen at the war due to Naruto getting a swell head about it. I mean Neji could've just pushed Naruto and Hianta out the way he didn't need to take the attack head on like that.

When i was a kid I cried so hard when this fight ended. I was not chubby like he was but I related 100% to his kind and gentle heart.

Some of the best fights in the OG series. Choji is such a boss.
This wouldve been the perfect death for Choji. This would've been a great lesson as well, for when you chase a friend into the darkness to attempt to save them, you may get swallowed in as well. It's the risk vs reward that would be at play.
That what made the naruto vs sasuke fight bigger Naruto just had to bring sasuke back or their âdeathsâ would be meaningless

that seamless thumbnail looks clean, no cuts or seams even though they are different shots
This show would of been more impactful if both neji and choji died here. So when sasuke finally returned his redemption arc by leaving the village would of been way more sentimental

For the record, Neji *was* meant to die in this arc, and Chouji was meant to be a fake out, a reason for Shikamaru, who was going to have to bear the weight of having comrades die under his command, to pull through. Kiba too.
