Army has fallen deeply into The Rose, although many were already following them. They are such a fun Indie rock band I’m loving them.

They are fantastic, I also like ' Alive ' that is a great track.
I found The Rose because of "Snooze", when Suga had Woosung sing with him on this song. I found Woosung's voice so hauntingly beautiful, I just couldn't get it out of my head, and I wanted to hear more. Turns out that Woosung is the leader, vocalist and guitarist of The Rose, which is a Korean indie band that had their roots busking on the streets of Hongdae in Seoul. The first song I heard from The Rose was "Back To Me" and while I appreciated its punk-pop sounds, having been a skater girl myself back in the day, this was NOT the song that made me a fan. The next song I heard was called "Alive" and it was a synth-pop track, and that was the song I related to more, so "Alive" made me a Black Rose. Then they released "You're Beautiful" and that's the song that truly made me stick with them.
Saw them live in Amsterdam last March and this track set the audience on fire. It was incredible...
The Rose are awesome... not only are they extremely talented musicians but they're four of the most humble humans on this Earth !! You can't go wrong with any track by them... they also have a doco out from their recent tour.... wonderful people... just a bit of trivia , their lead singer /guitarist Woosung, recently did a track with Yoongi from BTS (Snooze with Riyuichi Sakamoto (the musician who wrote Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence for the movie.. amongst many other great works - he passed away just after doing the track with Yoongi ))

Yes, his voice in Snooze was haunting. Just gorgeous.
There's a break in the Rose's work--they had to sue their previous label in order to get paid. The three Korean guys took advantage of that break to do their military service--Woosung is an American and exempt--he did some solo work.
It totally frosts me that Sammy Kim had to come to Korea to get recognition for his amazing voice and talent because it's so hard for Asian Americans to break into the entertainment biz in the US--and now he's touring the US in sold-out venues as Kim Woosung. And he's not the only one--I counted up at least 10 other Korean-Americans in Kpop bands because the US market is effectively closed to them.

The Rose is an amazing band! Please check out their newest release "Wonder". It doesn't go as hard, but it will definitely give you a nostalgic feeling of like The Beatles' "Come Together" or "Imagine". The lyrics and the intimate simplicity of the mv speak volumes. I hope you guys check it out. The Rose always has something to say, they are a band that is genuine. Also, Woosung, the lead singer was featured on one of Suga's songs, just FYI. He has several solo songs out that are great. Thank you for this reaction.

I've seen The Rose twice in concert now, the most recent was 2 weeks ago in Portland, OR. They are phenomenal entertainers, and so talented! Woosung's voice gives me chills, but really all 4 of them are amazing singers and musicians! Check out Woosung's solo works as well, you won't regret it.

Wonder is very nostalgic.
She's In The Rain makes me cry.
You're Beautiful, ILYSB, and Childhood are beautiful ballads.

The Rose don’t really have any more hardcore/heavy rock songs unless you count their drama OST Strangers. They’re more of a soft rock band. Back to Me was a really nice change of pace for them as were a lot of the songs from their most recent album. They tried something new and it turned out really freaking great.

I just saw The Rose in concert like, a week ago. They were amazing live too. Woosung, their lead singer was featured on Agust D’s song Snooze, but I’ve been a fan of the Rose since 2018. The Rose was actually made famous by their beautiful rock ballads, but they have a few more hype songs like this one. Woosung grew up in California and is an American citizen, so he put out a couple of solo albums while the other 3 members did their mandatory military service in Korea, and those albums have a little more funky sound than you usually get with the Rose’s songs. You guys might like their songs: Sour, Alive, Cure, and Nauseous. But the song that really put them on the map and made them famous is called She’s In The Rain.

Im so glad youre reacting to them! Theyve quickly become my fav k band for sure. They had a very organic beginning too, 3 members had a band and they were busking in korea. 1 of them had a mutual friend with woosung (guy with the more raspy voice who shredded on that guitar) and they were drinking buddies. Woosung did not want to join a band when the guy asked him, but was convinced to do 1 session with them. He said he strummed the f cord, and when the rest joined in he was instantly sold and joined. All 4 members can and do sometimes sing, but woosung and dojoon (guitar & piano) mainly do the singing.

They just finished their wourld tour last friday. I saw them live in Amsterdam. Their songs are so much better live! It's insane. I swear these guys deserve more recognition. Just a note if you're interested in checking out any of their other music, The Rose actually don't fit into a specific genre of music. This track is heavily punk rock inspired, but other songs on this album include 80s inspired pop, slow rock, EDM, etc. The best thing about their music is that there is something for everyone and you never know what you're going to get when you click a new track by them.
For diversity, I suggest: She's in the Rain / Sorry / Red / Beauty and the Beast / Sour / Yes / Time / Seesaw / Alive / Lifeline / Wonder

The first singer is Woosung. The second singer is Dojoon. If you want to really hear their voices I recommend Sorry (their debut) or Beauty and the Beast. You can really hear Woosungs texture in his voice and Dojoon's clear powerful vocals. Both are amazing. But they are softer. They don't have many hardcore songs.
Edit: i forgot about the song Baby. It has hardcore parts in it and it's another good song to hear the vocal difference of Woosung and Dojoon.
So I grew up only listening to Rock/alt and that turned into emo during my young adult life. The Used was my favorite band. I've made very few exceptions to this genre. BTS and Taylor Swift are 2 of them and both bring excellent lyricism. I found The Rose by fluke awhile back and instantly fell for them. It really did make me feel nostalgic to all my favorite early 2000s bands as well so I love hearing people mention this too and I also love you name dropping The Used! Anyways, The Rose is fantastic and I'm excited to go see them next month here in TX but you are not going to find a song that really goes harder. They are considered Indie Rock so most of their stuff is a little bit more mellow and probably about 60% in English. I think you guys would like Alive and Nauseous off their new album. You can also check out Red, Candy, Sour and Sorry. If you want to go slower, my faves include Beauty and the Beast, Insomnia, She's in the Rain and Time. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of it, they are a no skip band for me. Enjoy your journey with The Rose, guys!

As someone who has watched your channel for quite a while, sometimes I wonder whether this new idea that better reactions emerge from reading crib notes prior to first-time listens leads to better reactions actually does. I have seen it here and in other reactions and have found it to color what has been an appealing naivety opening up tangents to some extent made possible by someone elses input. That is neither good or bad, but it does change your reactions from some of the fascination a true newbie brings to the reaction game. That said, thanks for getting to Sammy and The Rose. His and indeed the group's backstory from busking to a global group is endearing as it occurred in the backdrop of a heavily corporate dominated music industry.

The rose doesn't have harder music but they do have more emotional songs, I suggest you start with she's in the rain
We like the harder rock/rap style songs. It’s hard for us to get into slow emotional songs. I’m sure they’re extremely great songs but not really or style.
People don't realize that these Korean rock bands, like The Rose, Day6, CNBlue Xdinary Heroes, FTIsland, are signing under KPop labels or in relation to KPop in some way. There was even one rock band from 2 decades ago called TraxX, under SM Entertainment, which is a famous big KPop label, but they have since disbanded. What this means is that KPop is coming back full circle slowly to Seo Taiji, the father & inspiration of KPop's birth, because Taiji is first & foremost a rock/metal multi-instrument musician. KPop is always evolving, so one possible future of KPop is perhaps a lot more instrument bands will be entering as KPop in some form & that perhaps the formfactor of singing+dancing, as in current KPop, maybe become less & less. This doesn't mean that all rock bands in South Korea are affiliated with KPop, it's just that these bands being reacted to are related to KPop in some form. Sometimes they are also considered Indie, but if they have any contact to KPop in some form, then yes you are also partly considered KPop as well. The Rose is one such band that is considered both KPop & Indie. Anyway, one day, it is possible that KPop might incorporate singing + instruments + dancing at the same time & that this type of formfactor would be comparable to the Jackson 5 & Prince, where both of these bands from decades ago used to dance in tandem while singing with music instruments. However, playing instruments can be limiting to heavy stage choreography so dancing would understandably be used less if you are playing instruments. We are also starting to see BTS playing more instruments during their first solo era, although instruments were not their forte because instruments were not really what they had to learn as KPop trainees. Suga (Yoongi) would be probably the most experienced & skilled when it comes to music instruments, but the others are learning. Suga & RM have also used the NI Maschine-mk2, for recording beats, but the Maschine can also be used for live performance. "Snooze" with AgustD is a must (MV by Elisssa). Masterpiece! "Alive" has a similar vibe to "Back To Me" but their others are softer (but just as awesome) - "She's In The Rain", "You're Beautiful", "Sorry". Woosung's voice is so beautiful, haunting.

The Rose are pretty unique for a Korean group, as they write, produce, and play all the instruments for their music. As such, they actually aren't that popular in Korea and have found more success overseas, especially with their last 2 albums which feature a lot of songs with English lyrics - both singers are fluent in English.
