    That engine is a god lol I have it in my truck factory, GM calls it the L33. aluminum block with pressed in iron cylinder liners, LS6 (799 aka 243) heads, bigger cam, flat head pistons similar to the 4.8 which the iron 5.3 and 6.0 do not have and other goodies. only came 05-07 in extended cab SLE trim I believe and I’m not sure but I think it had to be 4x4. I know I’m late with this playlist but I cant wait to watch the whole build !

    Check out VSRacing for your turbo needs, chinese based but still decent quality. Do BTR platinum .660 lift springs with either the Elgin 228/230 cam or the LJMS Stage 2 turbo cam. A basic single turbo log manifold will do the trick for the hot side.

    What you have is an LH6 5.3 it’s just like the L33 the only difference is the heads the L33 has 243 heads and the LH6 has 799 heads. The 243 heads are your standard ls2 head and the 799s are ls6. They’re identical casting and flow numbers the only difference between the two is the 243 heads have sodium filled exhaust valves for rpm. The LH6 also had a little hotter of a Cam profile. I have the same motor and I paid 1000$ for mine and you don’t find them for less than a thousand usually so good deal man great motor for sure. Turbo Silverado for me coming soon same motor!!!!

      Probably. High tech engines are expensive to mess with. The 2JZ does have a reputation for durability though. Then again, it should be strong, the damn thing has half the displacement and yet weighs as much or more than a V8.

    • @Tanner-bg2qn
      @Tanner-bg2qn Před 6 lety +1

      177SCmaro I had a 2jz Lexus IS300 and didn’t change to oil for over 100 thousand miles and when the motor finally gave up it was at 300+ miles. Didn’t realize what I had it was my first car but inline motors are extremely reliable and can make 1000-2000 horses extremely reliably. Even when the motor so called ‘gave up’ it sounded like maybe just the lifters or maybe dropped a valve on one cylinder. Would still run but was weak and had a loud knock coming from the top end. Been trying my hardest to find another one

      Justin Frye Hell yea! Take a few photos as you go and put them in chronological order on a flash drive. Then, before you go to work on that particular component spend ten minutes flipping through the pictures. Don’t try to make sense of the images just look them over. After that go to town and marvel at the gift that is the human mind... God like, nothing short of devine and that is if you don’t have a mechanical aptitude. If you have a mechanical mind you will instantly start correlating and having all kinds of epiphanies about other applications, before you know it your fledgling CZcams channel has become a full-blown performance modification shop, if you’re not a lazy pud and have not been beaten down by some phone it in parent or berated with negativity by some crap fiancé with body image issues that would rather break you down when they could have been building you up with supportive words of affirmation, no reason you won’t be franchised all up and down the Eastern seaboard.
      Sorry, I got off on a tangent. Humans realizing their potential makes me want to flex nuts crack a hole in the planet so we all have to reset our clocks.

      Copy, personally I wish I could afford to put a nice set of rods and forged pistons in my l33 going into my Fd so boost would be a more viable option, maybe later on. The blocks can handle quite a bit of boosted power with the thicker cylinder walls, just not the factory rods and pistons. At least when talking over 650hp reliably for any length of time. Yes I've seen writeups and video of almost twice that number on factory parts without breaking on a dyno. Anyway not discouraging, have fun and make power

    Ls9 cam, Dorman or good used car manifold, the truck exhaust manifolds are steel on the l33 motor(the one you got) so the can be cleaned, cut and welded as well as modular left and right exhaust bolt pattern (you can flip them 180) s300 sxe turbo round $900. Remember those head bolts are torque to yeild throw aways. You'll want speedmaster or arp studs or just new gm replacements

    Can you keep the bottom end bone stock and reuse the same old bearings even with some wear but good shape wear for 200,000 miles? I have a 2003 6.0 LQ4 with 200,000miles . My plan is to keep it stock except I would like to do a basic overhaul and just do a complete gasket change top to bottom to seal everything up like new. Inspect the bearings and reuse the old bearings if they look to be in normal good shape. Keep the same factory bolts for rods and main. And MAYBE upgrade the rings to something better for a boosted engine thats going to see 15psi??????? I dont know, what you think about the rings? Can factory handle that kind of boost even after regap properly??? Or should I upgrade the rings?? I want to hone the bores to clean it up and hopefully improve the seal with a new setup in that area. Also reuse the factory pistons at 15psi??? The heads will be cleaned up to improve flow and thats it. Nothing crazy. And a upgrade in cam to match up the boost. Can the factory roller lifters be reused or should i get the lifters? How about rockers? I want to stay cheap as possible but also improve durability and hopefully 600hp-700hp and 7000rpms? Or 6500rpms?

      if the 5.7 is an SBC, get the 5.3. The 5.3 has 70 more HP then the SBC 5.7 and over 100 ft lbs torque more.

    • @noonecareswhenalltheydo
      @noonecareswhenalltheydo Před 5 lety

      Why the hell would you when removing the heads? Now on the rocker bolts, ALWAYS loosen them by hand. I have stripped the head on a couple trying to loosen them with a cordless impact. now I always loosen them by hand and use an impact grade 8mm 6 point socket.
