      The current Georgia state flag was designed by a Georgia black senator. Gov. Zell Miller gave him the task of designing what we have now. 90% of Georgians did not want this and the NAACP was also contacted and they responded that they liked what the senator had chosen. I contacted the senator back then and ask why not just go back to the old state flag which was a blue banner with a state seal. Everything on a flag has a meaning and the blue field meaning meant loyalty to the Union of United states,

    The current Georgia state flag is just the first National confederate flag with the state seal in the top left corner and I love it. The Naacp cried about the prior flag (1956-2001) with the battle flag in the top left corner and had it changed to an ugly blue flag with all the original state flags printed on the bottom and people hated how ugly it was and it still displayed the prior “offensive flag”. So Georgia changed it yet again in 2003 to the current one and it’s essentially still a confederate flag and people are so dumb they don’t even realize it. 😂😂😂 So basically since 1955 Georgia has had some resemblance of it’s heritage with the confederacy in it.

    You need to stop targeting flags, the confederate battle flag and navy jack were designed and used by Robert E Lee he hated segrigation. And not all of the south is about slavery, many reasons they succeded was because of unfair treatments and people even fought for their farms. Just because the flag flies today is because people love their history. Targeting the flag wont change history. Many state flags have confederate emblems because they love their history
    Also if you think Confederate symbolism should be pulled down then you should take out the Texas flag to, they flew that flag during the Civil War when fighting against the union.
    The flag represents inubordination from the Tyranical goverment. And if it really was about slavery why did they still fight the war even though Lincon promised that they could keep their slaves

After civil war The flag was not officially adopted as the state flag until 1904. The present flag is symbolic of the reunion of all the citizens in the state and is represented through the colors of the flag ! And thats how you heal people of divided state ! Its not for someone from another state to tell people in another state what they should think or do ! Since we were once Under British and won freedom should remove all symbolism thats british ? The color scheme of US Flag and what colors used on CSA flags is colors from UK union jack ! and in 1800's many nations used the st , andrews cross ! the Confederate battle flags and there many color schemes is model after scotlands st. andrews cross ! It's funny because the battle flag was used by soilders and most didn't own slaves. The official flag of the CSA, was mostly used by the government which nearly all of it's members owned slaves. This by default makes Georgia's flag the "most offensive". Also Virginia's & South Carolina's current flags are based on thier 1861 "Let's break away from the Union" flags.

    You glossed over a pretty important aspect of the Arkansas flag: the stars on it all represent former 'founding countries' the territory was a part of, so it's not like the Confederacy *specifically* is the point of that design choice. What I find much more suspect is the fourth star being added later on during segregation, similar to many other states (like Georgia) adding Confederate elements in that era to reinforce white supremacy. Either way, I think you could settle this by just ditching that star (and the text just for design's sake) and come out with an unambiguously non-Confederate flag.

    • @RayPierreWhit607
      @RayPierreWhit607 Před 7 měsíci +1

      The fourth star is the only Confederate symbol. We need to change it to represent the first nations people. I don't really care for the text either. But, I'm tired of the stars and bars BS. Stacking two battle flags to make a diamond is a huge reach. Fail.
      Also, the 25 stars represent Arkansas PLUS the 24 states that came before it. That would include all of the north.

  • @John-ws2zr
    @John-ws2zr Před 11 měsíci

    Another reason for changes to the Confederate flag was for practical reasons. As you stated, the original CSA flags were very similar to the USA flag and, in the heat and smoke of battle (black powder was used then) it could be very difficult to distinguish one from the other. Clouds of smoke, smoke and dripping sweat and even blood in your eyes caused a lot of confusion! So much so, that troops even mistakenly fired on their own. So, that was another reason for change. Also, the flag with so much white reminded men of a flag of teuce, or surrender... and that could be dangerous in battle too.
    Great video there though! I really enjoyed your analysis. I've pointed out the same things about Georgia's new flag to people too. Just ahows that we dont know enough of our history. Thanks again for helping to change that! 🙂

You should have included the meaning of the features. The 3 bars for the first 3 states to leave. Also TN never left the union though many of the population did. Alabama and Florida can get away with theirs because of the duality of their flags. The cross of Burgundy (St. Andrew's Cross) is actually a Spanish flag. The flag most people consider the confederacy does draw inspiration from it. Florida should lose the state seal and replace it with an orange circle or a sun (Oranges for orange circle.
