I'm 64. Seen Purple, Sabbath and Rainbow in the 70s. I have never heard anything close to this. It's brilliance still blows me away. Degail is a good album too.

Amazing how scandinavian bands took metal to the next level and I think last stage of perfection. Bands like The 3rd and the Mortal, Theatre of Tragedy, Therion, Tiamat, Tristania, Pagan's Mind, Decoryah, The Sins of thy Beloved and some dutch bands as well like Epica, The Gathering and Within Temptation, all of these bands releasing at least 1 perfect album through out their career, they epitomise some of the best, not just metal but, music in the last 20 years. I'm grateful to them for their existance as they have created a better world for me to live in.

I personally like the Secret of the Runes more, but this one is a masterpiece in it's own right! I can understand why it would be someone's favorite. Brought me to tears on some parts. The secret of the Runes feels like a trip to Valhalla - grand and otherworldly, this album is like delving deep into a mind of an alchemist - spooky but still mesmerizing.

I think that therion is like a gallery all their music are pieces of art. Johansson is truly visionary of the sound of a new world in metal music.
Años y años y no me canso de escuchar esta obra de arte, te conecta a otro mundo de verdad, además tocan los instrumentos con una maestría y las voces son la cereza del pastel hermosa combinación gracias por crear el Metal Sinfónico Therion que bello genero.
Yo no puedo creer que ya sean 25 años de su extremo, yo estaba en el kinder recuerdo que mi hermano acababa de nacer cuando mi hermano mayor compro ese álbum. (Jajaja cuando la música era coleccionable en cd)

That's the first album I ever bought - I got it for my 13th birthday. Today is my 30th birthday and I still get the same chills when I hear the strings in the very very beginning of Rise Of Sodom...
The first time i hear it, and i'm impressed with the quality of every aspect, from the mastering and mix to the artistic aspects. I hear nothing like this in today music.

That's true i'm not actively searching new music becouse it's all too much sfx and sound quality rather than creativity. But hey this is my opinion, you can think what ever you like. If this is just shit for you that's okay with me.
Listen to Karl Sanders for example. New music but still very creative. Spectral Lore is also very good ( Their song "averroes' search" is one of my favs from this artist)
Devin Townsend is also very creative. But he is not very new
Devin Townsend is alright, I prefer his latest album over the older ones though.
Also, try Haggard, they tend to be a little more raspy overall but are still good orchestral-metal.
If you really don't mind going down the metal rabbit hole, try Be'lakor, Septic Flesh, Rotting Christ, Insomnium, and I dunno, maybe Caladan Brood and Emyn Muil.
If you want something closer to Townsend than any of those, try Pinback. Rob Crow (the guy behind Pinback) also did a few songs for his side group called "Goblin Cock" which you can also try for a more metal sound.

А мне не очень.Есть у них/него хорошие треки,есть соляки интересные,но везде эти хоровые напевы не с самой лучшей мелодичностью для меня.

@@alewar92 el album Gothic Kabbalah es muy bueno, con un sonido impecable. Es excelente. Aunque prefiero vovin pues es mas orquestal, con la totalidad de sus canciones cantadas por soprano o tenor ,excepto una. Y eso para mi hizo a ese disco unico en aquellos años. No habia nada parecido. Lo mismo me paso con el disco symphony of enchanted lands de rhapsody y oceanborn de nightwish. Muy lindos recuerdos de esos años gracias a esa musica

2021, this is my first encounter with Therion. Absolutely love the music, the voice the everythibg without realising this was 1998. No doubt, 90s is the best era for these genre. Epica gahtering, lacuna and beyond. More melodic, calm and a lot of feeling

I found this album on CD at a music record shop called Metal Era when I was a young teenager and listening to it more than 20 years later on this platform feels like such a privilege. I am really enjoying and has helped me re-discover a part of myself, as well as being able to admire Symphonic Rock & Metal at one of its finest. Thank you so much!

Мартина лучшая их вокалистка за всю историю группы! Это именно с ней был записан этот альбом. Ещё Катарина Лилья хорошо пела в Therion.
Последние альбомы уже проходные для меня. Увы..
Este fue el primer disco que escuché de Therion el año 2004 cuando los conocí.. Desde ahí me ha acompañado toda la vida.. Sin duda sus canciones son una obra de arte, bálsamo y placer para el alma.. Gracias Therion por existir

I listened to this incessantly in my late teens and early 20s. Absolutely fantastic. Perfect sweet-spot between metal and classical. I saw them live in Toronto in 2005. Great show in a small venue.
