This is an old idea that there are all rich Anglos who are hanging in Espana. There are almost 950,000 Brits in Spain and 2/3 of them are of lower middle class working at restaurants, hotels, bars, clubs, etc and in addition to this most of them don't even try to speak native languages of Spain but still Spaniards don't complain about them.
Above all I can't believe that the Brits who get immigrants from all over the world have some problems with some Poles. I thought Brits were the most sensible people in Europe since late eighteenth century.

Brits have no right to complain about foreigners while they're building ghettos in Spain- filled with pensioners who refuse to learn Spanish and leach off the sun and medical-care.
I say this as an English person who emigrated to Norway, I've yet to meet another British person who made an honest effort to learn Norwegian- this is a story that is repeated all over the world: no matter the language; no matter the country.

OK, Comment from a bygone era, Colin the ethnicityist didn't have the same ring. Main point being, not sure why anyone would want to be impolite to the Poles, let alone want them to leave. They are pretty much hard working, family orientated, decent, friendly people like most of the other europeans I have met (few exceptions but not generally Polish). Comments on here have been pretty shitty in general and most people I know are pretty embarrassed by the current situation especially given that they are very much a part of the community in East Anglia where I live.

As a 70 year old Brit it makes me sad to listen to these Polish people. I was shocked and disappointed when I heard the referendum result as I knew it was going to spell trouble and I wasn't wrong. Brexit certainly emboldened the racists and xenophobes so I wasn't surprised to hear what the Polish ladies said. It's not only Polish people being told to "go back to your own country", even some black and Asian people have received the same treatment. That some have been born here doesn't cross the mind of the bigoted racists who can't get their heads around that.
I've spent years touring European countries, mainly Eastern and Poland was always a favourite. Whichever country I was in I would try to learn a few basic words but Polish is extremely difficult. Most young Polish speak English and a few older too though I never expect it from Polish people in my age group. Britains connections with Poland go back to ww2 when Germany had invaded Poland and we declared war. Young Polish lads who had managed to escape to UK were eager to join the armed forces and we had a number of RAF Polish fighter squadrons. Many sacrificed their lives to keep Hitler from our front door, yet now Brits (some) are telling them to "go back to your country" or demand they speak English when talking with their family members.
I understand why they are deciding to return.......i'm not happy about the reasons and it makes me feel ashamed that Britons could do this to other people. What will become of this country I dread to think as what i'm seeing now is not good and had I been younger, i'd have left years ago as i'm sick and tired of the race hate and xenophobic insanity.

So interesting. Racism without colorism. I grew up admiring Poles, due to a city called Hamtramck (in Detroit, MI), because they had businesses, neat, modest neighborhoods, a high work ethic.
My first job, at a retail store, my seniors were Polish women who treated my like a daughter. Right? They would fuss and me and correct me and minutes later, they are not mad at me. They just wanted the work done correctly.
They really helped me learn the ropes. I wish I could have spent more time with them and gotten to know them on a more personal level. They were a postive influence in Southern MI.
My grandma like the Poles because they worked hard and there stores were clean. I don't remember sensing that my Blackness was a problem to them.

To all those saying "assimilate!, Learn English!" - did Brits finally assimilate and learn the languages of countries they invaded hundreds of years ago? Have all those Brits that bought houses and settled in Spain learned to at least say 'hi' in Spanish? I don't think so.
You all think you're so great, and can look at immigrants from above, yet, most of the negative comments come from uneducated Brits that live off child benefits and tax credits. We're not stupid. Most Poles are educated and sooner or later will learn that there's no place like home. Once that happens, you're in big trouble. It's already starting to happen. Thousands of Poles are flooding the borders, but this time it's on the way out. Peace and love to you ✌️

Yes because Britain is the only nation with a history like that... A country that gave the world the internet, trains and modern industrial civilization but yes, we are the bad ones. All countries have committed horrible crimes in their existence, Britain is not exempt from that at all. However this country is far from the worst. Our nation has raised countries from tribalism into modern life, it has helped create the foundation for the international cooperation through the creation of the UN, the Commonwealth and other institutions. We have made mistakes as have all other nations, but do not dismiss the opinion of the majority of British people when they say they want immigration to slow down massively due to the crimes of the past. If we used your logic then China should be destroyed by the Koreans, Tibetans and Uyghurs? Turkey should be swamped by Kurds, Jews and Armenians? The entire middle east should be swamped with Jews, Christians and Hindus for the crimes the Arabs have committed against them? Your logic is shit and you obviously only say such things to be a virtue signalling piece of shit.

    • @TPQ1980
      @TPQ1980 Před 7 lety +2

***** Sure, taking money out of the economy "has no effect"... I see roles of notes being sent back daily. £100's sent back by scores of people and that's just in my local post office. It happens all over. An average British worker would have spent that in the UK economy.
My partner works in a shop and she tells me she sees the Polish everyday. They buy the cheapest food apparently. Subsist on as little as possible. Around where a relative of mine lives, there's a 2 bedroom house with 6 poles living there. All men. All working.
You can't say anything against the Poles work ethic. They are good workers. They aren't here to make Britain a richer or better place though. If we had currency equality, or a weaker currency than the Euro, you would see hardly any of them. I don't have anything against them personally, but if you think millions of economic migrants entering a country in a short period of time has no negative impact, you're dreaming.

We have limited and diminishing resources that need to be shared among UK nationals first, before we start to concern ourselves with the nationals of every other nation. Would you feed the neighbour's son and see your own son starve as a result? Of course not, you put your own first and it's time we put UK nationals first.

From what I percieve on the Engalnd and Poles matter is that there must be different kind of Poles be living in England. Every story about Poles in England sound like stories about Romanians or the iconic bydlo-style Russians in Germany.
There have to be a reason that reputation of the Poles in England is that bad.
Could it be that the normal Poles in England suffer from the bad reputation the highly recognizable bydlos?
Do you know not a single Pole you wished he or she should have stayed at home for the sake of the reputation of your kin?
Wouldy you please shine a light on that situation?
      Ps.
Sorry for my bad English. In case anything written is received as offensive towards you, don't blame me, blame my English teachers.

Just to counter some of your points, if I may:
1 The UK, as one of the 5 net contributors to the EU, paid for the Polish infrastructure.
2 You could afford the hospitals, hotels etc. Most Polish people cannot, which is why UK national minimum wage is so attractive to Polish people, even graduates
3 The UK buys more from the EU than vice versa
4 The EU comprises a small and decreasing proportion of world trade. Post Brexit, only 5 of the top 20 economics are EU countries.

I'm not even sure if Brexit was about Polish immigration. I think people are more concerned about Muslim immigration, which EU is happy to push. The EU is hostile to true free market capitalism and I have reasons to believe it's also hostile to free speech. Brexit was the right thing to do.

Ok i'm 54, i'm half Polish and half Scottish, I'm from Durham, my 2nd Wife is Polish, I've always detested the UK, I understood why Polish people went to the UK, Poland was horrendously neglected after the war and only 8 years ago still difficult to survive, After seeing what was coming regarding the hatred thing, I made my Wife return to Poland, my Mother was loved in England and it makes my piss boil to hear Polish people being called by misinformed Sheep, under no circumstances was i going to watch my Wife being brought down by them. So we've saved and moved to Poland, what a transformation, it's absolutely beautiful here, My Wife has a job we get some money for the Kids, we bought her family's 125m2 city apartment off them and a bungalow beside a forest and lake, both of which we paid for at a cost of £65 k, we now have free weekend hot hols for the rest of our lives from May till September, the Children also have a better lifestyle, it's nice to see somewhere moving forward rather than the stagnation of Britain, Polish people still think the grass is greener in the Uk, they can have our 5 places with pleasure, And let me correct you, Poland is NOT in eastern Europe, it's the heart of Europe, further more, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania are NO WHERE near Eastern Europe, unless you think Italy is as well !

Of course, they make wages lower, but is 800.000 hard-working and well-integrated people really a problem for 65 mln population? In Poland we have currently almost 2 mln Ukrainian immigrants and they have come to Poland just within 4-5 years. Comparing to 38 mln population it seems to be an issue and it really has a tremendous impact on wages. However, the majority of Polish citizens accepts it so far. They respect the culture and work hard just like we Poles do in the UK. I see the problem and I wish they got back to Poland, cause our economy needs them, but it will take some time to persuade them.

Whether you like the Poles or not, they are seen by the British as yet another mass immigration into the Uk. The UK Government predicted that 100k would enter the UK, but over a million actually arrived in a short space of time and was a shock.
Some towns in the UK now have Polish as their main language, and Brits are not always welcomed by the Poles in their shops etc.. This is obviously why there is friction, as it is seen as an invasion! The UK Gov is naturally to blame.

Jesus, the comments here are quite the treat.
I love some Brits, but I find they don't quite understand why thinking about them in the context of WW2 can leave some bitterness in Poles.
To put it bluntly -a lot- at least some of us thinks Britain basically betrayed Poland, twice. The first time when they waged the strange war, basically doing nothing to help Poland during the September campaign, and then after the war when together with the USA they left us at the mercy of Stalin, basically sacrificing us at the altar of politics, for peace.
Now, history being history, it's usually much more complex and multifaceted than just single sided narrative, but that's how some people feel over here.
Add to that the fact that Britain wasn't overly happy with the reconstructing of the Polish state after the Great War, and you get "the damn Brits never liked us anyway" sentiment.
Is it completely unfounded? Well, I wouldn't go as far, but there are multiple angles of argumentation that can disarm some of it.

How exactly do you envision standing up to Soviet Union and Third Reich both at once when your allies didn't even allow you to mobilize your troops before envasion?
Poland was occupied as resault of Yalta Conference, where Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin divided post WW2 world. Poland was "given" to Soviets, as it had not existed independent at that time (due to September campaign).

@@jeffreykalb8810 I'd go even further, the American public would be livid if Operation Unthinkable was realized and prompted five more years of war against the Soviets using US-made tanks and planes. No sane politician would make that decision. Stalin knew that and used it to his advantage.
The US with others has sold us for peace, it left a bad taste, but it's understandable. They made a deal with the devil, and we were the price.
However, Britain and France soured our collective trust towards military alliances. We hear "Western allies" and we think "right, like in '39?"
