The twentieth pathigam praises Lord Shiva by describing all aspects of Him. His divine feet symbolize the beginning and end of time, the source of life, and rulership over all existence. These verses highlight the powerful yet compassionate nature of the Lord, and urge devotees to worship and revere Him in order to attain salvation.
Thiruvempavai’ are a set of twenty songs that are sung in Shiva temples in the month of Margazhi. The songs are sung early in the morning, one on every day, followed by ten songs of the ‘Thirupalliyeluchi’. The paavai songs are part of an ancient tradition amongst unmarried young girls, where they would light lamps in the early mornings of Margazhi, and sing songs in praise of Lord Shiva. It was believed that such rituals would bring prosperity and a suitable husband.
The ‘Thiruvempavai’ songs, along with the ‘Thiruppavai’ songs composed in honour of Lord Vishnu, resound in temples across Tamil Nadu during the cold days of December and January.The songs are even sung during the coronation of the King of Thailand!
The twenty songs of the ‘Thiruvempavai’ form a part of the ‘Thiruvasakam’, a set of ancient Tamil hymns that date back to the 9 CE, and were composed in Annamalaiyar temple by the poet-saint Manickavasagar. Each song in the ‘Thiruvempavai’ is a fervent expression of the poet's deep devotion and surrender to the divine, and quest for spiritual enlightenment.
The songs are written as conversations between a sleeping maiden, reluctant to wake up early, and her friends who try to persuade her to accompany them to the temple.

The last of the T20 series was as rivetting as the last over of a T20 match. Kudos to this dedicated effort the last 3 weeks. Never heard of ragam Manirangu before. Just does not ring a bell :-) All I can say is indha ragaththai kaettu Manam irangu or Manam urugu. Just like the way Madhu finishes each rendition, I am being a copy cat to toe her line and bring down the curtains with a 😊...

What I felt after watching the video is that the lady dancing to the song is not just a dancer , infact I felt the Bhava of the song in your heart came out dancing and that is how I felt . அருமையாகப் பாடுகின்றார். பொருளுணர்ந்து பாடினால் இன்னும் சிறப்பாக இருக்கும்

In doing so, u will be the trail blazer and trend setter for the GenNext and ur contemporary carnatic singers to take a leaf out of ur book and put this good habit to practice :-)

Sid sriram is an excellent and creative singer .. sometimes yes he can get little lost and that's when sruti lapses and shouting come.. but I otherwise love his creativity in his singing.
Most of the critics who criticize him are angry more because he is a film singer who got a prime slot in music academy., than because he doesn't sing well.
There are many others I don't want to mention here , who aren't great singers but are singing at prime sabhas for years together. They are not criticized much.
Totally damaged dam. Floods of dreams. Damn age ridicules. You are sitting on throne wearing crown in my ventricles. You entered as a queen. You yourself is a song babe .
