This is a musician's musician. She influenced scores of artists. Her unique tunings are a model for guitar players wanting to get out of the rut of standard. She is the girl from "Going to California", with flowers in her hair, that Robert Plant sang about.

This album just celebrated 50 years in 2021! David Crosby said she is a better songwriter than even Bob Dylan. One of my, (and a lot of other people's), favorite of hers is A Case of You, lyrically amazing, and that VOICE! She plays an Appalachian dulcimer on it, and when the guitar comes in after a bit it's being played by James Taylor, another great talent of those days! Thanks so much for another amazing reaction to an incredible artist and song!!

Joni's Blue album was voted the 4th greatest album ever recorded by Rolling Stone magazine. She came out of Canada and headed for the place that music was exploding and never looked back. She wrote the classic Woodstock, though she was not able to get to that epic gathering because she was booked on the Dick Cavett show in New York that same day. She performs that song on the Cavett show while the festival was just beginning. She became one of the greatest stars in that age of Rock and Roll, romantically involved with all four of the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young singers over time and wrote and performed music until she was old and gray, which is now. Joni was something special and still is though she now resides in her native Canada once more and keeps a home in Hollywood just to go there and see what award she must accept now. Along with Miles Davis and Eartha Kitt, she is the one that I still listen to in my car, in my parlour and in my head as I head toward 77.

The belle of the Saskatchewan plains. Best living songwriter, imho. This is probably the best written album ever. It is consistently listed in the top 3 of all time greatest albums and mentioned as 1 of the most inspiring/inspirational among other top tier recording artists. The whole album is a masterpiece where she lays her heart bare for the world. I recommend "A Case of You" off this platter, or "Raised on Robbery" (with fellow Canuck Robbie Robertson on guitar) for a more up-tempo, fun tune. Her work with Charles Mingus, late in his career, is also outstanding. And yes, it is her playing the piano. She is also a very influential guitarist (her use of alternate tunings), and plays the dulcimer, as well.

Joni sang in a group called Joni and the Pussycats. They had a cartoon based on them.

An angelic voice, such a legend! The influence that Joni had on her contemporaries and those that came after her cannot even begin to be measured. A once in a lifetime talent.

This is a massive body of work that she has done since the 60s. If I was you guys, I would queue up the live Miles of Aisles album. It’s her wonderful tunes done as she veered towards jazz. Definitely one of my favorite recordings ever.

JONI was The Singer/Songwriter Goddess Queen. BLUE was written during a very melancholic phase in her life when I was in my mid teens, and the introspwcyive heavy mood of the entire album hit me emotionally very powerfully hard. Saw her live in 74 & she was pure magic on stage.

I was born in 1960 so my entire teenage years were in the 70s and I grew up loving Joni Mitchell 🙂

Here's another suggestion for another one of her songs, if interested. "Joni Mitchell - Help Me (Live in London 1974) HQ" (by the channel: Lagaletteinfernale) [Here's the link] 👉czcams.com/video/UTT54TEbolE/video.html --This song "Help Me" was on the Billboard charts in 1974 for 19 weeks reaching #1 on the Adult Contemporary Charts and hit #7 on the Hot 100.

    Oh boy!
I suggested you hit jonis jazz phase with jaco pastorius before.
    Steely dan level amazing:
Don juans wreckless daughter (double lp)
Shadows and light (with the best jazz band any singer has ever had!) 1979 live.
This was the end of the 70s this live disc. Marked 1980.
    Wonderful you covering joni!
The 1st women artist to have full control of her whole career. Art and songs and production. Everything. She waited till she had full control.
