( www.alltfl.com/ ) Check out our new spot to find ALL our content, from news to videos and our podcasts! Welcome to a "warts and all" review of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy and Chrysler Pacifica Limited AWD. Why warts and all? Well, while the intent was to compare these two vehicles and give you a better idea of which is the better family hauler, things didn't exactly go to plan...but we try our best to keep it real with you guys, so here's our (admittedly flawed) video looking at these two three-row vehicles.

As a man that probably had 17 many vans as a retired 35 1/2 year sales rep all were Astro Vans Dodge Caravans and my very last one was a Chrysler Pacifica, I can tell you a good set of snow tires on the front and you can go 90% of the place a AWD mini van can go. I say constantly saw 30 mpg on a trip and about 22.5 mpg in town. My last fall working due to health condition I couldn’t fly and had to drive from Southern West Virginia to Salt Lake City Utah a 2000 mile trip and the Pacifica handled it with ease. When I retired we missed our van so much we bought one and love it, a great family hauler, there just hard to beat!!! Remember those 0-60 times were with 3 pretty good sized men in there. Not a single lil feller in the bunch!

I think it provides phenomenal mileage and capability and comfort for what it is. I installed a trailer hitch and tow a 10 foot utility trailer with my Pacifica. Great test. Having had Both the Pacifica Limited S and a Toyota Sienna as my kids were growing, I will say I miss the Pacifica more than the Toyota. It towed our pop up camper and a Uhaul much better. As far as maintenance was concerned, we had issues with the power doors on both. Toyota cost 1300 to fix, the Pacifica cost around 700 to replace the door motors. The 20” Falken tires on the Pacifica are not quiet tires either but still much less road noise than the Sienna. This is a segment that the manufacturers missed opportunities with. They need more robust towing capacities to make it an ultimate vacation vehicle. If towing was around 5500 pounds, I wouldn’t have switched to an SUV.

I've owned a Pacifica, and currently own a Palisade Calligraphy, so found this interesting. Where the Pacifica fails is the driver's legroom. Not enough for somebody over 6". Because the second row is fixed and can't slide back and forth like the Palisade's. Also, it's easier to use the heated seat buttons etc in the Palisade. But the transmission sucks. In Comfort or Smart mode, the car has to think about what gear it wants to be in and then you have to plant your right foot. Or put it in Sport mode, but it gets jerky when you just want to tool around town. It's easy to see Hyundai put all of their money into the interior of the car. But I would get another Pacifica as I miss the Stow 'N' Go seats, and the lower entry for the dogs. The Hyundai def isn;t worth the $53K I paid for it.

What I wish Chrysler would do is to come out with a non-plugin hybrid version, with an all-wheel drive feature. The little bit of EV-only mileage feature is simply not worth giving up stow and go that is sacrificed for the extra weight of battery needed for that itsy bitsy EV only mileage. Unfortunately, the non-plugin version would not qualify for the tax credit. However, giving up the extra weight that the plugin version supporting the extra battery sacrifices overall MPG.

2 weekends ago we used an Uber to go to and from a concert in Florida. On the way back to the hotel we were in a Nissan Armada. One of the people had a splint on her foot, it was hard for her to get into the vehicle because she is short and the vehicle has a high step in. If I ever decide to drive for Uber/Lyft, I will buy a hybrid Pacifica, I think its a great vehicle for that purpose.

I really lke my Pacifica over an SUV. I had both so I can talk on each and I can haul more in the van and still get better gas mileage. The only thing the SUV has is towing capacity which I haven't missed.

You buy the Pacifica. The utility makes up for what the Palisade may merit. You drive the Pacifica until it’s worn out taking advantage of its comfort and utility. It’s not a fashion statement. The Palisade will be dated in a few years and still little utility. Lease the Palisade. If the snow is too deep for the Pacifica, you probably shouldn’t be driving anyway. Roman is right on this one.

No Minivian has 3 across in the 2nd row and AWD, with the exception of the bottom trim Toyota. I want all the creature comforts, so I am forced to look at SUVs. Currently have a 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite. I love it, but wish it had AWD for the snow.

My coworker just got a 2022 telluride top of the line model. At 240 miles it would not shift into reverse. Brought it the dealer and they reflashed it they said and it seems to be working correctly again. A little concerning to me and still don't trust the longevity of Hyundai or Kia enough to pull the trigger. All the options at there price point are tempting though.

We have 18 Pacifica and 18 Highlander. The Pacifica can't be beat because of the stow and go and much more room. The Highlander has had 0 problems to the Pacificas multiple though. Obviously the Sienna with stow and go and the 3.5 would be the play. Too bad Toyota is going the opposite way

I'm having trouble understanding Nathan's incredulity at the thought of a "$60,000" minivan. Is he suggesting there should be a price cap on minivans because, well, they LOOK like minivans? Should manufacturers refrain from adding too much content to minivan platforms? The Pinnacle isn't the Pacifica I would buy--I depend too much on the Stow-N-Go feature--but for buyers interested in a luxurious yet overall-efficient people mover, the Pinnacle provides the goods...and in most cases, for less money than comparably equipped crossovers and SUVs. All of that said, thanks for an enjoyable video, guys!

The minivan is the obvious answer. I did 1800 miles in a pacific awd and my total MPG was 25.5. And this is the hilly north east. Did the same trip in a grand Cherokee and only got 22. FAR more room and much more comfortable in the Pacifica.

We rented a Pacifica to go to a football game recently. Was not impressed. For a newer minivan, it had a lack of charging ports for phones. It drove good but to be a minivan you would have thought it would've had more charging ports and audio speakers.
