  • Brighton made history by qualifying for a European tournament for the first time in their 121-year existence. Owner Tony Bloom rewarded nearly 1,000 staff members with a 20% bonus as a token of appreciation.
But how much money can soccer clubs make from such qualifications? Qualifying for the Europa League group stage guarantees about 3.6 million euros, and if Brighton were to win the tournament next season, they could earn around 45-50 million euros in total.
Moving up from 9th to 6th place in the Premier League also adds approximately 6 million pounds to their earnings. Tony Bloom, who made his fortune in the betting industry, has invested over 400 million pounds into the club.
Rather than paying himself back, he chose to reward hardworking staff members.
Brighton's success has been fuelled by a bonus scheme implemented since the 2015-2016 season, which motivated and united staff to support the club's journey to the Premier League.
This act of generosity sets Brighton apart, as they strive to become a regular European contender. It's a gesture that will be remembered as Brighton establishes its presence on the continental stage.
