I love the lore of the eagle. Soviet psyop to make it look like they have a capable fighter (which at the time they actually didnt) made the americans so scared they developed what would become the best fighter jet ever made in history, with a KD of 105 to 0.
Wasn’t really a Soviet psyop, the U.S. massively overestimating the MiG-25 wasn’t due to any intentional action by the Soviets, it was just the U.S. freaking out because it looked like the early proposals for the F-15.
Calling it the best because of the k/d is goofy. Especially when that k/d consists of helicopters, old 3rd gens, and a handful of MiG-29’s fleeing without weapons. That plus the U.S Air Force never having to fight anything dangerous or threatening while having like 6-1 numbers. Compare that to something like the harrier which fought actual modern fighters to achieve its k/d. It’s like calling a wrestler the best because he absolutely demolished a bunch toddlers.
