Hey everyone, let me know if you like the screen recording of capturing the photos or if you feel it's not needed. I tried to show the experience of taking some shots, so you can see if the objects were moving, shutter speed, image processing times, etc. Thanks!

As a PC user I’ve craved the personalisation, settings, look and feel of android. The last Galaxy I had was an S3. Since then I’ve been on iPhone and it’s been great but what I’ve noticed is with software updates my phone battery struggled and it wasn’t as responsive. I’ve now decided if Apple forced my hand to upgrade from my iPhone 11, I will go back to Samsung and be super excited about it.

Phone cameras have gotten so good its hard to pick a winner outright! Both have really comparable images and video. The S21 portrait video kinda surprised me it looked so crisp compared to the iphone.
Main takeaway really is consumers don't need to worry much anymore about the difference in camera performance between android and ios since they're so close in quality now so its all about choosing an OS now. Prolly still an edge to the iphone in video quality though.

    • @GrantLikesTech
      @GrantLikesTech  Před 2 lety +11

Very true, main differentiation manufacturers are going for now are low light/night mode, long range zoom and "cinematic" style video. If you don't need or want any of that, then you're good with phone cameras from up to 3 years back at least.

I like android operating system better than IOS. Can do much much more with android IMO but that depends on use case really. What you want from your phone determines what operating system you should go for. Agree with the cameras too. Sharp pics on both phones.

Super comparison !!! Big, big LIKE !!!! I think the iPhone has a lot of work to do to match Samsung's photo performance. At least the ultra-wide and sound part seems to be completely out of control on the iPhone 13, compared to the Samsung S21. On the other hand, I did not notice such a visible improvement even in the case of night photography. For now, this is the situation, maybe iPhone, with some software updates, will improve photo quality.

Super video! Very analytic, thorough and clarifying comparison. It could set the "standard" for this type of videos! Many thanks. The only test not taken is night mode with stable camera but moving object. Galaxy seems to be slightly better in many cases but NOT in night mode moving video where stabilizer does not respond at all for a decent presentable result (even motorola one action way-older gives me better results). So the test of, lets say a performer moving in front of a stable camera in night mode would be informative!

Photos from the main rear cameras are already very good on most phones. What really differentiates the strength between these 2 phones are the ultrawide, front cameras and night time - all of which is more superior on the S21.
Sure, we don't need 100 over megapixels, but a larger resolution camera does provide more raw data for the image processor to work with.

This was an amazing video! I'm trying to decide between the two phones, and camera performance is really important to me. I can see how the capturing of the capturing would be great for some people and not others. For people a bit more savvy about how they take pictures it gives a great sense of the user experience. For someone like me who is mostly going to just grab a and shoot, it doesn't offer a lot. That being said, because I'm a genXer, I have a bit more attention span. The genZers might get a little impatient.

A thing that I really appreciate is the photographic styles in the iphone, the way that you can edit the processing of the colors is mad simple and effective, but with all the features that the s21 provides, I think the samsung is better value with the portrait modes and zoom lens, although the iphone is much better at video processing

Did you use the snapdragon or exynos version? The latter would explain the horrible video stabilization, like dxomark pointed it out also. Selfie and portrait mode in the samsung also very bad, lets you look like a zombie. In other areas the galaxy feels like good value for the price.

Tough choice. Seems like the Samsung puts a bit more blue into their images. That said, some of the color rendering is really drastic between both cameras. For instance, the lake/pond the ducks were in looks completely different. Overall I think the Samsung has Apple beat though. There's quite a difference between your selfie videos walking through the park. The Apple video looks very soft, whereas the Samsung looks more crisp. Great post!!

I really don't care about the camera. I use my phone for work as a scanner. Scanning prices and location for items. The S21 battery is better than the iPhone. Android don't have problem with their batteries. Some iPhone after a couple of years. Battery won't charge to 100 percent. My brother has that problem. It only charges to around 90 percent.

S21 exposed too long for that ultrawide sensor which could lead to potential smearing due to shaky hands and having to hold the phone that long for 5 seconds is just insane

  • @shashwatsrivastava3516

On some places 13 is better and on some places 21 is...No comparision really...Been using 12 pro and shifted to s21 recently and gotta say...feels like an update.. 12 pro and 13 are basically same

The sound quality has more coherency, robustness and clarity on the iPhone. I wish there were as much attention given to audio quality and connectivity in phone reviews, there's no substitute for a phone, yet for images we've the option of cameras.
