- Ypres, 1917. Two soldiers from opposing sides, one British and one German, confront one another after becoming trapped in a Belgian barn during World War I. With heavy resent and a language barrier dividing them, the two try to find common ground whilst biding their time.

It always means alot when I see that people remember the tragedy of the great war. Not enough people grasp the deep sadness of it. This was well made and I greatly enjoyed it.
There's nothing to like about any war.

@@Bruce-1956 Yes I have been many times, I was there earlier this year, as the renovations are being carried out. I have pretty severe mobility issues these days and the last post was played in the peace garden behind the monument, the chief of the fire brigade was kind enough to lead myself and two friends through the crowds to stand right in front of the buglers, that was beautiful of him, a real honour for myself and my friends.

I've only recently discovered some of these short films about WW1 on here. I'm impressed at just how simple yet at the same time how moving some of them are. Really brings home the pitiful and senseless nature of that war....
This was fantastic! The acting was great! The humanity they showed each other really amplified the power of the ending
At first I was saying… the kit is wrong… this is wrong, that is wrong… but then I realized this film isn’t about the kit or the action. It was more than that. What great acting, story, and the way they portrayed humanity. Hats off gents. 👏 ❤

Pretty good. The only thing that annoys me is that the German is wearing a early war uniform with the stalhelm but over all this was pretty good.
Maybe he took the stalhelm from another soldier

All i have seen ( cuz i paused it ) Is the poppy 1917 Syble intro then it get hit with a Artillery Shell .. And i had to pause it cuz .. Man og man am i excited this looks fucking Amazing and im not even 10 seconds into it one of my Fav channels just a masterclass in cinema history and present love this channel but holy fuck this looks fucking amazing so excited

Great acting the only thing that you need to change. If you’re gonna do one in the future, the bird chirping isn’t too realistic during the war no birds were in sight for another 15 to 20 miles away
The only bad thing are the too clean uniforms.
And in the east, they are working on part three of the "great war"...

It adds to the message of the film that there aren’t any. Two young boys from opposing sides of a war find common ground, despite an language barrier between them. I believe this was a conscious and intentional choice.

One day, people who makes movies will *open a book* and will see how a trench looks like...
- 0:45 Walls made of boards of wood
- 1:06 Walls made of waved sheet metal
- 1:58 Seriously, who believe that a structure of wood, and made of manufactured piece of wood, like this were used to instal barbed wire ???
- 3:34 Babed wire was never intalled on those structure (fragile, impossible to build in a trench, even more difficult to intall it at the right place) , it's well knbown and seen anywhere in the books that barbed wire was put in *metalic sticks*
Purely a trench built by 2020' men who bought their materials at the DIY store and never opened a book to check if it's "realistic"
... I challenge anybody to show 5 photos of a 14-18 trench with walls full of board of wood or full of waved metal sheets.

Then, this film is out of historical reality, put XXI century state of mind into XX people's head... You are not sick to always put your fantasy into history ? Not possible today to make a film without the fake humanity of the two ennemy who meet each other and refuse to kill ?

This film is:
- Not realistic,
- Don't teach anything
- Too cheap to be deep.
What this film is destined for ? You convince me to produce a CZcams video to show, to proove, to teach, to put into your eyes, how a 14-18 trench looks like:
- Nude walls
- Walls made of small piece of wood braided around logssticks)
- Sand bags
- Barbed wire on metalic sticks.
Never seen a trench like in the film, into my thousand of 14-18 trenchs pictures... But it's much expensive and need time to do it realistic... It's not an excuse, you pretend to make a film about 14-18, do it real or don't do it.
This film is a useless production of pollution, to make it, to keep it availlable on internet, it rape history, it's a perfect misunderstanding of History.
You people of the world of cinema are my main ennemies, you always shit into my passion: History.
Awarded by a bunch of people who can't see what's wrong in the film because of ignorance...
"Best costume"... the joke... awarded for a 14-18 uniform ? What more easy today than make a 14-18 uniform ? And for more they are not complete, too much clean... This award is a chocolate medal.
Nothing spoils the message of this, otherwise good film, than the acidic comments of a nerd who shows off his knowledge!

Why don't you make your own WW1 film that is so wonderfully historical? probably a film without any message of humanity, which was also present in terrible wars!
So make one yourself.
