  • I review the Waterfield Design Shield Case for Apple Vision Pro and compare it with two of my favorite cases: the EUCARLOS hard carrying case and the Apple travel case.
    Note: The measurements in the video are based on manufacturer specs. When I manually measured the Waterfield Design + EUCarlos cases, this is what I got:
    Waterfield Designs Case: 1 lb, 1.6 oz| 8" x 9" x 5.5"
    EUCarlos Case: 1 lb, 03. oz| 8.5" x 8.5" x 5"

    Hey everyone!
    Editor's note: As mentioned in one of the comments below, there is actually only one correct way to put the Apple Vision Pro into the Waterfield Designs case. This is with the front glass facing the bottom of the case (opposite the handle side). By placing the Apple Vision Pro in this orientation, the battery that is on the lid will sit nicely on top of the top hat case when the lid is shut. Another thing I forgot to mention in the review is that there is actually a hidden compartment for an Apple AirTag as well!

    Great comparison. My Waterfield case arrived today and I decided to utilize the battery compartment to store a batterypack. Additionally, I have positioned the AVP battery at the bottom of the case, with the Belkin case securely in place and the accessory case on top. This arrangement will undoubtedly serve me well during my upcoming trip to Japan in two weeks. I am extremely satisfied with the purchase.

      Wow! That sounds like a great travel setup. I have a spare AVP battery, so I’m going to see if it can fit at the bottom of the case as well. Thanks for the idea!

    I bought both the WaterField and Apple case with airline travel in mind. I plan to keep the Apple case home and travel with the compact one along with a backpack, hoping it’s small enough to not count as a 2nd bag when boarding.

      The Apple travel case is great if you are looking to carry it solo, but the WaterField case is perfect if you plan on putting it in another bag. It doesn't have a hardshell like the Apple case, so you would just have to be more weary of it getting dropped or smushed by something. Both cases are great and I plan on keeping both as well!

    I think you put the Vision Pro at the wrong end of the case. With your setup, the battery is right on top of the Vision Pro. If you’d put the Vision Pro at the other end, the battery would be on top of the accessories case

      Thanks for pointing that out! I will try it out again.

      @@ben.waldman no problem! I appreciate you taking the time to watch the videos and the feedback. I hope to keep this an ongoing series as new cases come out so that people have solid options at all different price points.

    I got one of these cases… then I just got a pelican 1200 ($50) and cut it out to fit the VP and wires.
    I honestly feel the pelican is the cheapest, most inconspicuous, and most protective case you could get.

    • @phoeyedtechguy
      @phoeyedtechguy  Před 2 měsíci +1

      True! However, how’s the weight on the Pelican case? Also, there’s not much style to the design haha.

    • @mohamedube
      @mohamedube Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah the Peli adds around 700grams. And certainly doesn't have any style at all, but if you are putting it in a backpack while traveling anyways then that doesn't really matter. Though I do get concerned looks on the airplane when I pull out what looks like a small gun case as we are taking off@@phoeyedtechguy

    How can you feel the top of the AVP on it when it’s 3/4” thicker than the other case u r showing and comparing it to?

    • @phoeyedtechguy
      @phoeyedtechguy  Před měsícem

      The Waterfield Design case is a soft case, so you can push down on the top cover easily and feel any object that is inside. The black case is a hardshell, so pushing down on it doesn't allow for any movement of the material at all.

    Nice detailed review. Seems super snug fit is a bit concerning to me/kind of a hassle.

    • @phoeyedtechguy
      @phoeyedtechguy  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes everything fits very snugly, so putting things in and taking things out is a bit more hassle compared to roomier cases.

    I’ve heard a lot of positive comments about the Spigen case.

    • @phoeyedtechguy
      @phoeyedtechguy  Před 2 měsíci

      Me as well! Looking at the product website, it has a lot of good things going for it and seems to have addressed the main issues I had with the official Apple travel case. However, the videos I've watched on the Spigen case have mentioned that it's a bit larger than the Apple case and I think most people would prefer something smaller. I have one on order and will do a full review once I receive it!

    hmm I guess it's fine but that bending of the speaker housing doesn't look great .....in fact in the Vpro drop test it broke exactly there .....that's a lot more force but putting it in and out 100 times could affect it ....maybe

    • @phoeyedtechguy
      @phoeyedtechguy  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I agree! However, the bending only happens if you try to put the AVP into the case with the headband on. The Waterfield Designs case is really designed to be used with the headband off.

      @phoeyedtechguy yeah most likely it just looks worse on video than it actually is

    At $179, I’d get the Apple case.
