In conclusion: she has enough chunky classics to use for self defense😂
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! I’m SCREAMING!
I have said that about many of my chunky classics. I once said to my grandma that if somebody were to break into my apartment, all I'd have to do is start throwing War and Peace, The Idiot, The Count of Monte Cristo... And all of the huge books and I'd most likely knock out the trespasser.
Grandma didn't think it was so funny, though. She was relieved when she learnt that I was in self defence classes.
“Chunky classic” was my nickname in high school. It’s what the ladies used to call me.
Everyman’s Library Editions are my favorite. Thanks for the tour. You have a beautiful collection of books.
I love how you compared how big a book was by seeing if it could take a person out 😂😂😂
Omg hahahahahahah I never noticed that before omg I’m crying lol
Haha yes! my thoughts the entire video! It cracked me up but honestly I have similar thoughts when I see chunky books 😂😂😂
I love old books so much. Their smell, their yellow pages, their history...i imagine how long they are on different places’ shelves until they get somewhere, even in another country, where a person see them, fell in love and go home with them. ❤️
There’s nothing like stepping into a library and getting that first wiff of dusty books
Lexi in a horror movie, runs to library for self defense classics. 😂 I love, love, love this video so much!
Hahahahhahahahahahha!!
You know... In the movie John Wick 3 he actually killed someone with a book. :D
My favourite classic is Wuthering Heights and I have several editions. I having been collecting editions published in years that are important in my life. I have from my year of birth, my kids years of birth, my anniversary etc. My latest edition is from the year my brother was born. He was given up for a potion at birth and found me last year. I can’t pick favourite editions to collect, that’s like picking a favourite child. If they are beautiful, I’ll collect them. You have an incredible library. ❤️
Hi Lexi, the penguin's gothic beautiful editions are called Faux Leather Edition from Penguin, I hope this helps you out!!! 😊
I keep the complete works of Shakespeare next to my bed just in case
There’s just something about leatherbounds that hits differently you know? As for my favorite classic, it’s definitely pride and prejudice
ohhhh yass. i love leatherbounds they r just SO worth collecting...
My top two is great Gatsby and gone with the wind. I love leather bound easten press b&n franklin folio. Then every man library. Mixed with antique books and getting into Penguin cloth . It’s something about the combination of the old the new together look amazing
I have so many of the penguin illustrated classics. They are so alluring and inviting. They tempt you to read them after seeing the covers.
I love how your family enables your pretty classic collecting lol ❤
Thank you for sharing. I love the leather bound books personally. The leather adds more structure to the books, always looks classy, and gives an organic component that helps to bring life to the pages.
East of Eden is one of my favorite books of all time, so I definitely recommend you get to reading it eventually! Amazing classics collection!
I started reading it today. It's my husband's favorite.
What a wonderful collection of classics! 😀 I love leather and cloth bound books, some of my most treasured books are my Folio Society books, I love the slipcase they come in. I treat myself and my library to a few special Folio books or sets each year. 😀 📚 📖
When you smelled your grandfather’s book and held it to your chest something poked me in the eye 😭
Also, my favorite on your shelf has to be the leather bound of The Chronicles of Narnia.
I know right, like I’m definitely not crying it’s just allergies!🥲
My favorite classics are Jane Eyre, The Hobbit, and Anne of Green Gables. I have multiple editions of each, but my favorites are those random, old, leather gems you might happen across at used bookstores ✨️
This classic collection is literally my goal I’m so jealous
The color Purple is my favorite classic. I loved your collection so much , I want to have similar collection one day!
I love any hardback classic that I can find. However, I will definitely go for a dusty old paperback from a second-hand book store over the brand new hardback additions from Barnes and Noble. Yes, they are so beautiful, but there is something super cold about them. When you find something well worn and loved in a second-hand book store you can feel like the book has a history that goes beyond the page.
Sadly I havent read very many classics but there is a special place in my heart for Little Women...i adore the book and every movie adaptation of it❤
Seeing your heirlooms bringing you joy was so delightful! Enjoy your beautiful collection!
I just ordered a Chiltern classic to see what I think of that line. I do love the Penguin clothbound. My fave classics are Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, and Jane Eyre. I also adore Anthony Trollope’s Barset books.
I love wuthering heights. It's my favorite classic. I have a lot of the Barnes and noble classics.
Thank you for sharing your collection!
I can't decide what collection of classics I like best, but at the moment I'm collecting the Vintage classics collections.
My favourite classic books are War and Peace and Anna Karenina 😍
Edit: The Folio Society editions are my favourites. I have a few of them, mostly gifted and some thrifted. And also would definitely agree that vintage books are amazing!
Wow. Those books looks wonderful. In my country can't find editions that look so pretty.
This was so great! You inspired me to slowly gather beautiful editions of classics, even if I already have less pretty, more beat up copies. My “special edition” shelf is slowly growing 😄
I'm feeling so much better about owning multiple copies of my fave classics. Thank you! 😆
I was just going to comment this! I have two editions of The Great Gatsby and saw a new one yesterday that I want 🙈😂
Everyman's Library is my favorite editions. I tend to try and find a book in this series if I can. My favorite classic would have to be Frankenstein. It was very unexpected based on what most people think of it.
I love the English Penguin Classics, clothbound editions and leatherbound books are so timeless. Little Women, Anne Of Green Gables, The Arabian Nights and The Secret Garden are all my favorites! You have a beautiful collection so far Lexington, happy collecting and of course reading.😊📚
Chiltern Classics, Macmillan
Collector’s Library and Everyman’s Library are my current favorites 😊
I also have a few of the Oxford Pocket Classics.
Great video!❤
This was magnificent!!! ❤️ Thank you for sharing your classics with us. Loved it‼️
Loved the video as always:) you have so many lovely editions. To answer your questions: I think that if I could have all of the books from Folio Society I would be a very happy girl, I think their editions are stunning because even books that normally are not illustrated they illustrate and the editions are great quality (they are quite expensive though so just a dream to own all of their books). My favourite classics to this day are probably Rebecca, Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Gray, 1984, Brave New World.
I’m actually obsessed with the Canterbury Classics/Word Cloud Classics editions. They’re so colorful and pretty! I have their edition of Jane Eyre, which is my favorite classic, and it is gorgeous!
Favorite classic - Wuthering Heights
I’ve got a bunch of old books as well. People just pass them onto me because they know I collect 😊
It’s lovely you have books to remind you of your grandfather and godfather 💛💛💛 I know how special it can feel to have an item of importance from beloved friends and family who’ve passed
Love the Penguin clothbound classics especially my favorite classic, Les Miserables by Hugo. Life altering novel.
In Australia the Dracula and other books are listed as "Faux Leather Edition : Design by Coralie Bickford-Smith"
I love the Chiltern Classics editions! I have The Secret Garden, Dracula, and Frankenstein in Chiltern Classics and they are gorgeous!
Beautiful collection, definitely added to my wishlist!!! 📚😱👏😍
I'm collecting the MacMillan Collectors library. My favorite is Anna Karenina. Love the smell of 📚 📖 📙 📘 and just want all of them 😋 Happy Holidays
This was stunning and wholesome and I am JEALOUS 😍
The Arabian Nights is one of my favorite classics!
You have a magnificent collection!!
The Scarlet Pimpernel is not just my favorite classic, but also one of my favorite books of all time. It's so underrated in my opinion, and honestly I was surprised that you had such a lovely edition in your collection! I'm actually re-reading it right now, from a publisher that's got the whole series published over several omnibus volumes. I've always wanted to read more of the series, but it's been difficult to track down nice prints of the rest of the series until I found the current publisher's series.
I also have pretty much NEVER been able to re-read books (I struggle with remembering too much) but this is the first book I've ever been able to ENJOY re-reading... literally ever!
Goodness! I looooooove you classics collection! It's my dream to have my own home library and I'd put in classics!🥰🥰🥰
This is probably my favorite video from you, these are stunning books! I love vintage books and classics. I had heart eyes the whole time i was watching. Lol. ❤😍😍😍😂
This is an absolutely GORGEOUS collection!!! 😍😍😍
I just started collecting leatherbound classics myself this year so I'm moooooore motivated to continue after watching this! I have several classics collections I'm trying to complete as well. Now I feel justified spending more money on same book with different editions 🤣🤣🤣
What a lovely collection!!! 🥰💕 I'm gonna subscribe~
I like your passion and laughed when you thanked your parents for supporting your nerdy dreams. This video was like a warm hug after a long hard day. I've just subscribed ❤️📚
My fave editions are probably leatherbound and my fave classic is either Anne of Green Gables, Scarlet Pimpernel, or Little Dorrit!
Jonathan Strange is on my 2021 TBR list, for sure! I bought mine (hardcover) from Thrift Books and was 😮 over how huge it is!!
I love your beautiful winter intro❤❤❤❄☃️ it is so pretty
I’ve had to go digital. I just don’t have the physical space to house every book in the world and I can read them more comfortably on my iPad screen because I can force every book on it to use a common font and size. Makes things so much easier!
I don't collect books because I read on my Kindle, but my two favorite classics are The Count of Monte Cristo and The Picture of Dorian Gray. So, I guess I just like really dark stories lol.
I read a Japanese manga on the court of monte Christo. absolutely awesome story.
my favourite has to be the barnes and noble leatherbounds- gosh i remember getting my first one - dracula. the red and black is just!!! it really inspired me when i was creating my own novel cover haha! re favourite classic - anything by Poe! I also like Gone with the Wind, Our Mutual Friend, Woman in White...the list goes on!
I've recently begun collecting the Paper Mill Classics and The regular Penguin classics. My favorite classic is A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith, it's one of the most amazing coming of age books I've ever read.
@Kenziekat44 A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is my favorite classic too!😊
ugh I loved this so much !!
Nothing compares to Easton Press. I have over 300. I also have a huge set of Franklin press.
Ooooo these are so pretty I love the Canterbury classics cloud editions the most they are gorgeous...... and I love watching your videos .... you're my inspiration behind my own channel
Favorite classic is Dicken's Great Expectations. Mine is a special leather edition by the Oxford University Press.
I adore the classics. This resonates with me.
I am really excited about watching this video ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you thank you for being so positive
Your collection is beautiful!!
THEYRE ALL SO PRETTY
Oh I’m in love with all the books love them and your blouse is so beautiful. I love Alice in Wonderland and Great Expectations and the Penguin House collections are my favorites.
Brilliant collection!
I love classics! 🤩♥️
Your collection is such a life goal! My favorite classics collection is the Barnes and Noble exclusive leather bound editions. Winnie the Pooh is my all time favorite classic, but there are so many close runner ups. Wonderful video!
The Vintage Classics are so pretty! I own some of the Jane Austen ones and I want to start collecting the Russian ones
I love this topic! I'm such a fan of all of these!!!! :) :)
Okay but that Charles Dickens is MASSIVE. Like jesus okay. That is definitely a weapon.
I also have read that collection of Angela Carter.I absolutely loved it. I am curious if it freaks you out, but it is a beautiful gothic collection. I hope you enjoy it.
I myself prefer the leather paperback classic editions. I don't love the word cloud effect but I like the ones with designs. I just love the feel and the look of them and if I can get a classic in that edition I usually go for it.
I’ve begun collecting Penguin clothbound editions. One of my favorite classics is David Copperfield but I love all Dickens! Also Crime and Punishment by Doestoevsky, Anna Karenina by Tolstoy and Les Miserables by Victor Hugo which I just finished about 2 months ago. I saw the Penguin clothbounds on CarolynMarie reads as she collects them also.
The leather bound books with the foiling is a mystery to me, because they have the same designs the cloth bound classics collection has (which I’ve been collecting slowly over the years). I haven’t figured out what the name of that collection is either but I do agree that they are absolutely lovely.
Jane Eyre is one of my absolute favourites. My grandmother gave it to me for Christmas when I was younger. I love it.
I love all your classics and your beautiful bookcases
Your intros are the BEST!❤️
Thanks for making this video. I need to keep it around for reference because I plan to get classics at some point. I already have a couple on Audible and if I enjoy them as much as I would like to, I may make myself a space in my new shelves to have classics on there. Right now the plan is to have middle grade in one room and YA in the other so I can share with my nephews and niece but I also wanna add other books that they might not think of reading when they're teens. Definitely not gonna be reading Jane Austen at age 10! One of the books I have that I can remember is Emma. It's on the TBR I made but not sure if it's in a batch that will come this year. I'll have to check. I won't be adding children's classics to the library because I read some already and they were so horrible, I thought that anyone selling them should be arrested for child abuse. Yeah, I can't remember any of the books I read now but I hope adult classics will be much better. I have yet to read one, I think.
Oh, and I've seen this video over 10 times now but I never ever remember anything you mention here. In fact, I've forgotten it already so I will have to watch again someday soon. I'll be saving money for a long while before being able to add classics to my collection so we'll see how that goes. Maybe in a year or 2. I still have other books to get and I'm already freaking out about those!! =P
I love Jane Eyre and Frankenstein 💜 I think leather bounds are gorgeous! I just need to afford them lol 😂
I believe that the Gothic Literature Penguin classics are from the expansive Penguin Clothbound Classics collection. Thank for all your amazing content!
I think my favorite special classic editions are the Barnes & Noble collection and the Penguin Clothbound Classics. I think my current favorite classics are A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sherlock Holmes stories, Collections of Emily Dickinson poems, and Pride & Prejudice.
I love your pronunciation of Les Miserables, and I love that edition! That’s one I want and that I forgot to ask for this year for Christmas!!!
I loved when you spoke about your grandfather and godfather
Love this video! Edith Hamilton’s Mythology is my favorite book of all time! I do not have the illustrated edition as yet. But, it is now on my lemming list.
Your collection is simply gorgeous 😍❤️💕
So is her face !
Thrifting ! Yeah we call them charity shops. Best place for really great bargain books !
Always a fan of your genre-based recommendations
What a gorgeous collection, mine is mostly Vintage classics as I find the binding and font perfect for me and the covers are spot on. As much as I’d like some leatherbound ones, my current budget allowes for Vintage classics only 😊
Much love and thanks a lot to you specially for this video.
That vintage edition of Paradise Lost is sooo beautiful, I just can't 😍 Paradise Lost is one of my favourite classics but my number one is definitely Faust by Goethe :3
I love seeing all the different editions of classics, though I'm not sure what my personal favorite is other than any kind of leather-bound. My favorite classic is definitely The Hunchback of Notre Dame!
Stunning video! 💖 My favorite classics: pride & prejudice, little women, Jane eyre, Peter Pan & Rebecca! (Not counting modern classics here that’s too hard!)
I love so many of the classics editions you showed I can’t choose! Haha
Also I have never read Arabian nights but have always wanted to😊
That is an amazing collection so far! One day I hope to have a similar collection! For my favorite editions, I love leather bound editions they're just so pretty! lol also my favorite classics to read are: Sense And Sensibility, Wuthering Heights and The Count Of Monte Cristo!
I LOVE your channel!! 😌
Hi there. I’m new here. I love your collections. Such beautiful covers❤️
12:30 - I love how Walt Whitman’s initials on the cover actually looks like leaves of grass.
I have the same Winter editions that you have 😁 (Pride & Prejudice, Whethering Heights, and Little Women). I also recently got Persuasion and Jane Eyre 🥰 i am totally going to be picking up Emma when it comes out in the spring! Love your videos!
New subscriber here and you are just so lovely. You seem so sweet and kind! Also, your production levels on these videos is NEXT LEVEL! 😳 So so so happy I found your channel!!!!
I honestly don't know what my favorite print or edition is. I do like the interactive books (you showed Peter Pan) but I don't own any yet. And narrowing down my favorite classic--YIKES! Gone With the Wind I think would be number 1, but The Little House books, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Sherlock Holmes are pretty high up there too
I mostly own classics on my Kindle app at the moment but omg those editions are beautiful I want them!!
My dad actually has a bunch of leather bounds, but I'm not sure what the publisher is, and he also has a bunch from Library of America, and the Folio Society among others. I like the Folios, cause their nicely crafted and have nice illustrations, and their catalogues are really cool. Edit: His leather ones are Easton Press, too.
