As a catcher, that doesnât really hurt itâs more loud if anything. That break is nice and Iâd give the world to have that kind of umpire.
Same Iâm catcher too
Remember to do the same for them when they wear one. Take a slow walk to talk to the pitcher and a slow walk back.
Bro the ringing in the ears goes crazy
@@cxdxr I know
For real
As a former coach, this is the majority of youth umpires. Parents are the biggest concern
Yeah my mom was the screaming variety
I agree, there was a girl on my softball team and her mom would make her ignore our coaches; and also make her do things we canât.
As a current and long time official.
I agree, and it's only gotten worse over the last 5-10 years
15 years as a Little League umpire. The parents are why I hung up my gear.
Exactly.. that was the main concern when I was playing too.. youth kids games are very political
The umpires in these games are usually players on the high school team so they actually help the players develop
Amen
WE NEED MORE PARENTS LIKE THISâŠSEE HOW KNOW ONES YELLING!! Thatâs because its a KIDS little league game!!!!
Itâs 13 - 16 or 17 u
Yea itâs high school
know?
Nah fuck that I'm yellin
Youâre yelling though
This umpire is actually able to think and help the kids because he doesnât have a bunch of belligerent parents yelling at him over a little league game full of kids that none of which are going to go Pro. Do you see how normal these people areâŠPARENTS AROUND THE WORLD TAKE NOTE!!
Yep, parents are why I gave up donating my time to help out a coach and share my baseball journey with kids. Damn shame too as I have a lot to offer kids in this sport.
It was one pitch, dog. Lol
Give them a chance. Parents always find something.
â@@tima.478 "I have a lot to offer kids except patience."
Doesn't sound like real passion to me.
@@GoatyHerps Had nothing to do with patience. Trust me, go VOLUNTEER some of your time to youth baseball and you're likely to see what I'm talking about.
@@tima.478 I do, every day, all year.
You gave up on them. It's okay.
He should teach other umpires how it's done that's heart warming
Every umpire does this
Iâm impressed!! Good umpires like this one are like unicorns
We need more human beings like this.
Umpires deserve more credit. The good ones do this all the time.
We need more baseball in this country period.
ong tho we need more blues like this
Iâm a fellow umpire and I am gonna start taking notes from this guy
great ump. can tell he truly loves the game
I have a ump in my league just like this I love that dude
Yea you are right this is the best umpire in baseball âŸïž history
Bro, I had one of the best umpires at my game the other night he was the best umpire I have ever seen
We need them in the MLB because obviously you know most umpires in MLB nowadays, without temper tantrums over nothing
The catcher is an umpires best friend on the field! Always make sure their ok and take your time letting them get back to their game!
Umpires like this lead to far better players and the entire attitude on the field. Win win. đ
Especially with youth sports, it should all be about the kids and their future
Youâre right bro youâre just truly right
I had an ump like that once
one of the nicest guys Iâve ever talked with
I play baseball and that is the best ump I have ever seen!!
We need more umpires.. period.
At this age.. we need at teaching umpire.. great job đșđž
We need more umpires like that 100%
I am that way.
Also, I practice with all the teams.
đđđđđđđđđđđđ
One of the kids were in the hospital, and I gave him a signed baseball to get well soon. He strengthened up and was back 4 days later to Play Ball!
Parents were grateful. đđđ
My daughter is in Jr high softball, when we come across a cool blue, both teams have a great and enjoyable game no matter the outcome. A good blue goes a long way with 13 yr old girls and their sportsmanship.
All umpires already do this. If a catcher gets hit, the umpire always takes his time, giving him a minute to shake it off. And every catcher does the same for the ump. Iâve been attending/coaching youth baseball games for the past 14 years and have never seen any different.
I have been playing baseball my entire life and I caught for 5 years never once have I had the game stopped for me bc I got hit in the helmet they donât just automatically call time in my experience they ask the catcher if he wants time and go from there which is what has happened to me literally every time they ask if Iâm alright I say yes game continues
So is the ball fair?
@@grahamtant8068 how would it be fair the ball hit the catcher
He tried to catch it and missed. Obviously fair
@@grahamtant8068 thatâs not how that works it was a foul tip not a foul ball
We really need more coaches that know how to act appropriately during games. especially when things don't go their way.
This is why I absolutely love playing catcher ⊠you can talk to the players and the blues⊠and they respect you
Heâs definitely played catcher before and as a catcher heâs 100% on point
Umps are always great. Iâve seen some missed calls of course, but they are good guys for the most part. The problems are almost always parents
Completely unbiased, respect
Good thing he posted the footage
Respect for the umpire
Good that ump encourages the kids.
I miss these days as a kid so much
There are plenty of umpires like us around. But with parents becoming worse and worse they will continue to leave. Every Varsity/NCAA umpire on my board is like this and has these kinds of moments with players. We just donât go pro them. And In the same game we have awesome moments like this we get told out zone is shit by parents sitting 120 feet away in deadball territory
first game catching yesterday, the ump was super helpful and was giving me tips. most of them are super cool and deserve a lot of respect
The catcher is a real one.
I would love to see and umpire like that!
As someone who used to be a catcher maybe not four baseballs but def seeing things it really just rattles you from the noise tho
As a former catcher. This was so nice to have.
I had a helluva lot more umps that would lean into my back and nudge me forward into the batters kill zone or just screwing up my duties for my pitcher.
As a catcher I can confirm we definitely need more like this
This happened yo me the same day and the same umpire he is so nice
Seriously need more ppl that r chill bro
As a catcher some of those will ring your fucking bell, but some of them ainât bad at all but just getting that couple second break is nice!
We need a bunch of umpires like this
The mlb needs to hire this man for all of the games.
Umpire were nice like this when I was playing atleast
As a catcher it does fell nice to have a break thank you
There are plenty of umpires like this. In fact MOST of them are like this until the armchair umps in the bleachers wear them down year after year.
Or if they get paid for itđ
My ump, got yelled at by my teammates dad the other day. He was yelling âinfield fly, batters outâ when it was a foul. The ump took his mask off held it up and yelledâyou want this jobâ and the guy just crossed his arms and sat back down. He is honestly one of the best umps Iâve had.
Exactly I did little league games for years never had a problem until about 2010 on I finally had to quit parents are out of hand these days!!!!!!!!
@@jeremycummings6702 Iâm 17, have seen so many kids I grew up with become total sissies. Millennials had boomers for parents, who let them roam around outside until 11pm with no cell phone. Now, a lot of millennial parents try to make up for the childhood they never had by helicopter parenting, and demanding others to accommodate for their child. Itâs a weird ass toxic cycle.
â@@jesuschristiskingandsavior461 most leagues pay their umpires. I used to make $40 a game and that was in 2005
It doesn't hurt but sometimes it does ring the bell a little. But doesn't hurt. The break helps to get settled back down sometimes depending on the hit
As a catcher, I appreciate this ump
Wish more upms would record games like this. Great for training
The staff is there because they love the sport and wanna help your kid be awesome. The parents are the real problem.
Had that happen a few times. Doesn't hurt, just surprises you.
I wish my cityâs league could get just 1 umpire like this for each field lol. This was ALL umpires when I was a kid about 20-25 years ago, now umpires are only financially motivated it seems.
iâm usually the catcher, but when the umpire tells you youâre pitching well. feels so damn good
Iv played at that field before itâs probably the best field ever
Stuff like this never really did hurt was more just loud than anything but Iâve had a few umps like this dude and itâs honestly more enjoyable with someone behind the plate that you can talk to between batters
Every umpire I sat in front of added to the pleasure of this great game that teaches you about life
Thatâs because heâs clearly played the game!
Please cause when I played they just called stupid calls
I work as an umpire for 10U softball. I had a game the other day where this little girl came up. Shorter than the rest of the team, hadnt played up until then. Her team was down 12 runs with 2 outs so i⊠*manipulated* the calls a bit. The cheers from the sidelines after she walked made me realize i had done the right thing
So wholesome
I was an umpire for years for little league. This was pretty standard from us. If only parents knew how good we actually are lol
Umpires and catchers have a bond.
Alo the best ump fr đȘđ»
Well said. Good encouragement
This is the type of umpire I was. The college coaches, players and parents ruined my love for the game. Now I just coach my son. 33 years old and been a part of the game for 26 years of my life
That head snap was no joke
Iâm a college level catcher and second that it doesnât hurt but itâs nice to get a second to breathe every once in a while
I agree o always get ones that call stricken when it wasnât a strike or something itâs so annoying
Getting a complement from an ump is honestly one of the best things Iâve experienced
Compliment*
I had an umpire like this in two games, and this man freaking was biased he was just trying to help all the players wasnât making good calls due to this both of my coaches got ejected because of how bad he was and then mid at bat I kept fouling off pitches and he kept bothering me trying to say good at bat I was Like dude Iâm trying to Focus lol
So no, we do not need more umpires like that
He's a mindful human that just happens to umpire
We umpires get these more often than one would think. I had a ball get stuck in my mask more than once, even took a fast pitch to the face on a quick return by one pitcher. We know how the bell rings and will give these breaks, especially to ensure there isn't a concussion resulting.
As a catcher I always did this anytime the ump got rattled by a foul tip.
Why copying everybody when they start they sentence with "as a?"
@@christopherfields9785 What are you talking aboutâŠ
As a catcher omg I would love thisđ
Yes we do!! It's about the kids not ourselves.
Iâm a catcher myself and I will say I get so pissed when Iâm Posos the ball back to the picture because thatâs one of my favorite parts of it but everything else was amazing we do need more empires like that
Iâm a catcher and this is like totally trueđ
As someone who was a filler in all positions catching can be the most painful position since noone was on base that was super nice
I was always coaching kids when I was an umpire, especially the catchers.
So true though we need more of those
For real I had a tournament yesterday and the umpires were really dumb
Finally, not a ump who just screams
âFOUL BALLLLLLLLLL!!!!â
As a catcher I can confirm we have this protection for a reason.
I umpire fastpitch, and I do the same thing for my catchers. I actually motion for the coach to come out and check on their player.
As a catcher from peewee all the way through high school, it doesnât hurt at all getting hit in the mask, itâs just super fucking loud, getting hit in the legs doesnât do anything either but the chest and stomach, GAWD, it hurts every time and I always take a sec to gather myself
Outstanding!
Wo dont need more we need umpires to be like this
Wow, you can tell you loves the game
Nah thatâs a real homie right theređ
As a catcher yes we do
Most of my umps were like this. If you showed them respect you got respect back.
Ive played on that field a couple times this season! âŸïž
