    Amazing song by Brian, glad he decided to do it with Queen instead of his solo album! I transcribed most of the song from a partially isolated bass track from the extended music video version, and the rest by ear. I guarantee this is the most accurate tab anywhere on the internet!
    I've seen a lot of people do some dumb stuff like tuning their bass to B-E-A-D because they think John used a 5 string on this and played those deep notes in the beginning, but nope, just his 4 string red precision elite in Drop D. Also I see a lot of other covers playing the parts like at 1:10 using the D note on the A string and not doing the pull offs, but in the music video you can clearly see John doing the pull offs.
    At measures 33 and 34 I'm pretty sure they just completely muted that part in the song and then you hear the bass come back in on measure 35 but on the semi-isolated track, that's what John plays.

      Good catch! John does that pull-off thing on "Tie Your Mother Down" as well.

    Thanks in advance! Did he use drop D on Slightly Mad as well? The 5 string story also applies to that one. I even believe the official tablature has 5 strings...

    • @frostmusicofficial
      @frostmusicofficial  Před 2 lety +3

      Well typically the "offical tab books" are very wrong from what I've seen. But yes John did use a 5 string on that one, as well as The Hitman, and Scandal. Although it is possible to play I'm Going Slightly Mad in Drop D, its just easier to have a 5 string to play it.

      @@frostmusicofficial thanks for the information! Any idea what 5 string bass he used?

    • @frostmusicofficial
      @frostmusicofficial  Před 2 lety

      @@SonicVolcanoify I honestly have no clue, there are no photos I can find anywhere of him playing it. But I saw one comment rumored during a tv interview he was seen using it. So as of right now, I have no clue what kind of 5 string it was but we know he definitely used one.

    Can you play I’m going slightly mad or innuendo?)

    • @frostmusicofficial
      @frostmusicofficial  Před 2 lety +1

      I would LOVE to play I'm Going Slightly Mad but sadly John used a 5 string on that track and unfortunately I don't have a 5 string. But if I ever get one that will be the first song I do with it

      Tabs don't use clefs to my knowledge? The sheet music version of all my tabs are in bass clef.
