That 40th-41st Km climb could be quite tough on very tired legs. 😢

Man the uphill from Mrs Macquaries chair was tough when it was only a half marathon. I can't imagine it at 40k!

It's so hard to compare this route to others and get a feel for the hills. Any other climbs that might feel difficult even if they are short?

Credit where credit is due. This is a MASSIVE improvement on the prior course.
That said, a few small changes could have made it better! The u turn on Moore Park Road could be fixed by running around and then getting onto Oxford Street at Queen St. The small little u turn on Lang Road looks really pointless and the one on Dacey Avenue just looks like you were a little short. Can't you just make the Anzac parade run a little longer to get rid of those 2 u-turns? Then you would just have the single one on Anzac.

I was thinking the same thing. Those two little dog legs are just to make up the distance. Perhaps when it does get to be a major and all the star marathon runners turn up the course can be tweaked again.

This is much better because the old course with all those loops in the park was terrible and ripe for blatant cheating.

Is this the best you could come up with?
As a runner, there is nothing worse than doing a u turn and going back past where you've just run.
Still 4 u turns by my count.... No thanks!

I actually don't mind them at all - on the way out, I like seeing the faster runners (sometimes even the elites) who otherwise I would not see at all, and on the way back, realising that there are actually still a lot of people behind me - and giving them some words of encouragement. And something to look at in both directions!
