    I noticed that Administrator has these groups: Administrator, Domain Admins, Domain Users, Enterprise Admins, Group Policy Creation, Schema Admins.
    My admin account my_admin only has: Administrator, Domain Admins.
    I imagine that's the reason why my_admin Authorizing DHCP server failed, but I haven't the time to test this right now. I'll just continue installing SCCM/WSUS as Administrator and try to work out permissions to access the installed applications after. Yes I'll have to use an archived WSUS/SCCM because my company on has a license for SQL 2016.

However, when I connected another PC and successfully join to the domain the internet doesn't work. I run some troubleshooting and I notice when I run ipconfig it cannot get the default gate way that's why the internet doesn't work. Hope you can answer this. Thank you!

    • @MSFTWebCast
      @MSFTWebCast  Před 2 lety

      As you have mentioned that default gateway address is available might be that is the reason. First check the default gateways IP address in DHCP scope option (For the DHCP scope from client is getting IP address). If it is not there (or incorrect), you can specify (or modify) the default gateway's address in DHCP by adding the default gateways IP address in DHCP scope options. In short check the DHCP scope for default gateways IP address.

    Im lost at the portion where you are bringing the client computer in and getting them to connect to one another and being able to view that in the Leases folder. When trying to replicate what you are doing and connecting w a client. I made a new VM (to match the client you are using) but the issue is the VM is already automatically set to 'obtain an IP automatically' and 'obtain DNS server addresses'. and then after selecting okay, it is not connected to domain and stuck on ethernet0 undefined network

    • @MSFTWebCast
      @MSFTWebCast  Před 11 měsíci

      I think probably your local DHCP server is assigning the IP address to your client computer (I mean client VM). By default VirtualBox DHCP service is also running with (Host Only adapter type) and if you select NAT adapter type, you will automatically receive IP from the range 10.0.2.x.
      To avoid all confusion and to keep it simple, change the both (DHCP and Client) VM's adapter settings to Internal Network type, save the VM settings. Now your client will obtain IP address from your local DHCP server.

    Hii Bro,
    I have been following your videos and they are pretty amazing. I need your help with the IP(s).
    I had a VLAN already assigned to me (in my office for my lab work). However, all the IP(s) from that VLAN have been used and I need more IP(s) to complete my lab, but they simply declined my request and neither they are extending the VLAN host IP range.
    Now I have decided to create that LAB on my own personal PC and as you know personal PCs get IP from the service provider and they are assigned via DHCP. I need to know is there a way I can create a pool of IP(s) which I can use as STATIC assignment for the VMs I am going to use? What all things do I require to start with so that I end up with a range of IP(s) as much as I want?
    Appreciate your response.

    • @MSFTWebCast
      @MSFTWebCast  Před 4 lety +1

      If you use VirtualBox or VMware for your lab, you dont have worry about the IP addressing pool.
      For example, In virtualbox you can setup your VMs network adapter to host only and use any IP addressing range of your choice (as I am using 172.18.720/24).

    The issue with this instructional video is the following:
    1. When creating a new Win10 client, you did no specify which Network Adapter type you used in the Virtual Box settings?
    - I have tried using the "Internal Network" adapter, which doesn't work
    - I have tried using "Host Only" adapter on the DC client while disabling the Virtual Box DHCP server (and again with Virtual Box DHCP server enabled) - still doesn't work.
    2. You mentioned from video 1, that we need to use "Bridged" adapter upon installing Windows Server. But you've mentioned several times on the comment section, that you use "Internal Network" adapter and sometimes "Host Only"? Which one should we use?
    3. The IPv4 settings on your WIN10 are somehow already assigned static IP? When did you perform this step? If watching the videoes in the order of the Playlist, I don't see anywhere where it has been done.

    • @Oalmax
      @Oalmax Před 6 měsíci

      After awhile, I simply changed the Network Type to "Bridge" on my Windows 10 client. And then dded it to the domain "mylab.local" and later had it assigned automatically a DNS from the server.
      Now I can see it from the "Leased" section on my DHCP client. Still, this "process" wasn't in your instructional video.

    When you chose automatic settings for the client and has been assigned ip address from the scope of the DHCP server , the one thing missing here of why that happened is to also show that that client was a domain member, else nothing of this would have been possible.
    I have a different kind of problem here, Since I have setup both server and client with nat network (so there is already a dhcp) the only way to join client to the domain was to change to the ipv4 settings the dns to my servers ip. Then it did join the domain. But it can t take an ip from the server and stays at the ip the vbox's net gave it at first place. Any way to overcome this?

      1. Restart the DHCP service and try again.
      2. Open MMC and add DHCP snap-in to unauthorized the DHCP server. Restart the DHCP service and try again.
      3. It may be possible that the metadata of authorized DHCP server was not cleaned up. In that case, open Active Directory Sites and Services. --> At top, Click View and check “Show Services Node” --> Go to Services-NetService and check whether the retired or removed DHCP server is still in the list. If yes then you can manually delete the old dhcp server if it’s not cleaned up. Check again if we can authorize the DHCP server successfully.

    Hi Sir, I had tried configured dhcp server 2019 and client computer in vmware. In my client computer I cannot get ip address assign from my scope (dhcp server). Fyi, I'm using NAT network in vmware & already uncheck "use local dhcp service to distribute IP addresses to VMs). Any idea?

      Try using "host-only" adapter type.

      @@mysticstardust1109 Sounds like your using VirtualBox. I'm using ESXi right now. I prefer VirtualBox because you have access to the host Linux OS. ESXi is an appliance. Good Luck :-)

      You need to setup DHCP relay agent on Windows Server or if you have cisco router (configure as a gateway) then configure DHCP IP helper to relay dhcp request to DHCP server.

      On your computer open command prompt and type ipconfig /all command, hit enter key. In the output find "default gateway's" address which is your routers LAN interface address.
