- Welcome to another episode of Trailmakers! Today we are doing an evolution boat race! We have 2 minutes to build a boat and race them. Whichever boat wins becomes the new default boat for everyone to build off of and modify. We get another 60 seconds to improve after each race, taking the winning car to improve on each time. Whoever does the best at improving the builds wins!

Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Two ideas.
Boat evolution take 2.
Same basic rules except 10 minutes to build and test your boat and two minutes to modify.
This will allow greater variation to the builds and thus allow a wider range of evolution.
Or, handicapped boat evolution.
Same basic rules, except it's the last place vehicle that must be evolved.
So you have to take the worst vehicle and make it work better, the winner of each race still gets the points so no advantage to deliberately making it worse.
I'll even give you a couple of tips of how you could have evolved better.
Power placed higher or lower then the centre of mass will try to rotate you.
This can be compensated by angling the thrusters down / up slightly or by placing the thrusters as close to the centre of mass as possible.
Some high-speed boats have "trim tabs".
They are horizontal fins that push water down at the rear of the boat.
It will push the front of the boat down into the water, but (irl at least) with increased speed the overall effect is lifting the boat higher out of the water until the fins aren't effective any more.
Less drag equals more speed.
Hydrodynamics is just like aerodynamics, except that water has a LOT more drag then air does. So fix that first.
At some point you should do a all in one evolution race and who every gets the farthest each round wins a point

I like it!! Even the rules are evolving!
I made a super stable survival flyer with just 2 vertical propellers, 2 horizontal propellers, and a block with a motorcycle seat on top. It can't do much but if you need to get up somewhere to get some gold or push a rocket part down to get it with a ground vehicle and bring it to a collection balloon (i forgot the name of them) then that's that vehicle to use for the job. I've done it multiple times before, it also helps to cover long distances in short amounts of time as well as chase the bugs with the gold over water without a water vehicle. You simply just need 2 1x2 blocks facing upwards on each side of the motorcycle seat (front & back parts) and 2 vertical propellers, and 2 horizontal propellers. (also on the front and back attached to the 1x2 blocks
I feel like you guys should be allowed to fix a small mistake like that, especially since you're time crunched. Also, I think the bouncing issue was from having most of the thrust towards the back, and more drag in the front than the back. So the thruster in the back just amplified the issue, even more so because it was above the center of the boat, so it created a slight bit of rotation while in use. Overall though, I enjoyed this one. I think not being able to delete adds a lot to things. The evolution stuff has been really fun, especially with the flying and water creations. I'd love to see you guys do more around it, like helicopters, submarines, hydrofoils, etc.

Suggestions: Do a hover/plane/submarine/helicopter race, do a four way buildswap, trailmakers or scrapmechanic Olympics, mainassembly evolution

Relay Race Challenge: Using 4-6 players (two teams of two/three teams of two/two teams of three), the first person makes a land vehicle, and races it with others, then as soon as they get to a checkpoint, they hand it off to the next person in their team, and they edit the vehicle to be able to fly, do a flying race, then hand it off to the next person to do a boat race. Modify the challenge as needed if you want.
Day 2 of:
Asking for ornicopter evolution.
Jup of the highest island. With the winner being the one that lands withoud damage over the same island in the least amount of time/evolutions.
U should let them test cuz ornicopters are kinda hard to build

Episode idea: single-thruster flyer challenge in Scrap Mechanic, where you have to go through some rectangles in order, with a few sharp turns and one dragster-like portion of the course, as well as a sharp turn before the finish line (or finish rectangle). Suspension glitches allowed, to encourage people to make the absolute smallest and lightest viable flyer with only one thruster.
Also, it would be more fun if you get to *spend more time at each power core level.* Like, you start with 3 power cores, then you have one round to evolve the winner while still being at 3 power cores, then 6 power cores first time, then 6 power cores again, and so on.
I feel like like every evolution race he do a video about the perfect channel intro in scrap mechanic should be made because the ratio right now is 4:3
I'd like to see evolution dogfights. Each round you get +3 cores and +1 gun.

Part of the reason your kept going underwater was the nose, on planes you want it equal on top and bottom partially so it doesn’t tilt in a single direction, however water is denser than air so if it’s equal it will point toward the heavier force of drag, most boats and ships have that sloped underside but it then takes a curving incline like a multiplying x value slope on a graph to compensate for that difference in density
Guess in this episode Scrapman's Long boat doesn't stand a chance against Kosmo's Long boy

Day 3 of asking scrapman to build a plane using only RAW jet engines for thrust in trailmakers
Here's a multiplayer idea for either scrap mechanic or trail makers:
3 wheeled cargo carrier challenge:
Limits: 3 wheels only, any wheels, no glitches, anti flip devices or thrusters, must be able to carry an explosive barrel ( trailmakers) / a block of concrete ( scrap mechanic )
must complete a pre-made course without flipping, if you flip you cannot re-set so you have to make the vehicle to endure the course without flipping while carrying some weight on your back
i think this would be better for scrap mechanic since weight is more "realistic" and more fun in general

FYI - underwater thrusters that are placed in-line will amplify each other. I made a 5-powercore boat that gets up to 333 KM/H that way.

Hey scrapman new evolution idea: Tank battle evolution. You start by making something that only rams, and then you battle. Last person in their seat wins. No indestructible seats. After first one, guns are allowed.
It bounces because you have too much thrust below the center of mass, so when it starts to turn it thrusts you more upwards and because you also have thrust at the front... it will make you jump. You can make a vehicle that glides over the water, I have one that goes 280 when there are no waves!

I just discovered the channel and I'm 4 videos in. I want to see a evolution of a multiple use vehicle. Glide to land, race to water, liftoff from water, and fly to finish.

Do boat DEvolution: you get 15 minutes to build a working boat, then next round everyone gets the last place pearson's boat, then you remove 5 prices from the boat, then you switch, so you have to sabotage your opponents,the first 4 races give the winner a point, then the last race gives the winner 3 points

I'd like to see competitive evolution. Each player keeps their original design and evolves those to try and keep overtaking eachother. This way the designs keep getting crazier for 3 different builds. Maybe have a time or power core penalty for the different placements. So 3rd place gets an extra PC or more time since they now have to evolve harder and 1st gets less with 2nd being the current time and PC progression.
Have a little bit more buoyancy in the back then the boat won't bounce.
You should do a Evolution Hybrid race where you need to make something that can go on land, sea and can glide

Every round you get one minute to build, one extra power core, but you don't add any weapons or gadgets (Wall dispenser, snowball launcher, etc...)
