- I've saved the best of S.T.M. transit Day 2009 for last,
A ride through Maine onboard a pristine (correct me if I'm wrong) 1970s Crown school bus 724, enjoy!

I cut the muffler off my 82 crown. That 671 turbo jimmy needs to sing the song of my people everywhere i go
It's possible, but that bus is privately owned and was just visiting the museum. It could be back next year if I am lucky.
Love the high rpm glaspack exaust notes on them crowns
inline 671 yes. underfloor mount
Buslady, you know the newer turbo models didn't have the tin can in the tailpipe!
Awesome! Even when I first started grade school in the late 90's, these old buses were still in service. I haven't even seen one in years.
I love the sound of that screaming detroit diesel.
This brings back such sweet memories. He's got his Crown key hanging from the dash... Yeah! I used to drive Crowns... best buses ever built!
Thanks, it was definitely the highlight of my day at the museum :)
I love Crown Supercoaches, I grow up riding them on feild trip and during summer school when I was in Elementry school. When I was in High school, I was on the track team, and we seem to alway use a Crown. Now my favorites, are the tandem with the big Cummins 855T, but I really starting to like these tandem with the 6-71.
@Busdude97 I dont believe so, but I didn't hear the horn so it's possible
Plz go back epic bus sounds.
NICE RIDE AND I LOVE THE SCENERY !!!!
Almost could not get it in gear. The bus sounds great!!!
It's clean but I've driven pristine. This is a '72 tandem from ABC Unified
VERY NICE!
They have both electric horns operated by the button on the steering wheel and air horns operated by a foot valve on the floor near the clutch pedal.
Man, I love Crowns. Spent my childhood riding to school in all various models of the great Crown Coach Corp. School buses other than the old Crowns pale in comparison. Just an absolutely fine product well built by Americans. It is sad to these old beasts being put out to pasture. But, it is nice to see some being preserved like this one.
Manual transmission? Gosh I bet the clutch on this thing is heavy.
Railfan Andrew meh not really. I have an 82 crown i drive often. No harder than the clutch on your average pickup truck
My dad had one of these buses once. Gas powered. He was going to convert it into a motorhome. I don't think he ever finished the project and ended up selling the bus.
What is the clock like device on the dashboard to the right of the driver?
0:17
WIll you be making any more videos of this beast? The Crown Supercoach 40ft tandem axle models are hard to come by these days.
That is a beautiful Crown tandem. Too bad the driver can't shift a Fuller five-speed.
keep the rpms up its a detroit 2 stroke diesel!
this bus sounds like a truck almost like a transport

You said it.
what's that vertical box to the right of the instrument cluster?
I believe it's called a tachograph. It is used to record bus speed on paper for review by drivers' supervisors, safety departments, etc, They are more sophisticated today and some companies pay drivers bonuses for operating their vehicles within specified parameters. Pass #210, Seashore Trolley Museum, Kennebunkport, Maine. VISIT US SOON!!
Wait is this bus engine midship?
knightrider1545 yes
Thats most awesome school bus I've ever seen! It looks great and is in perfect condition! I'm enviouse! Does it have an air horn?
OMG!! NICE sounding bus! Is that a straight 6-71 ?
Does Seashore have any Crowns in there permanent collection? I can't find any on there website
They don't find shit like this in Texas!
Whereabouts in Maine is this located? I'm from Maine, I'm curious as to where this is taken and if the bus is still around!
Kennebunkport at the seashore trolley museum.
Did that used to be at Centerville-Abington Community Schools? true or false
Looks like an ABC Unified School District Bus from Southern California. Artesia, Bloomfield, Carmenita School District. My wife used to teach in that district.
