Thank Your Lucky Stars is the 6th album from Beach House (and 2nd new full length of 2015)! The band have the following to say about it:
“Thank Your Lucky Stars is our sixth full length record. It was written after Depression Cherry from July 2014 - November 2014 and recorded during the same session as Depression Cherry. The songs came together very quickly and were driven by the lyrics and the narrative. In this way, the record feels very new for us, and a great departure from our last few records. Thematically, this record often feels political. It’s hard to put it into words, but something about the record made us want to release it without the normal “campaign.” We wanted it to simply enter the world and exist.

i was asleep on a bus ride but this song came on and i woke up as it was starting, and just saw all the snow falling around us and how beautiful the world was at that moment, half asleep on a crowded bus at midnight.. it was kind of unforgettable
An empty lonely bus or just your soon to be soulmate would have been better.
I've been in a similar situation. Returning home on a bus ride after a long and far away trip and waking up to music with similar vibes (I had the Lust For Life album by Lana Del Rey playing), and I woke up to an incredibly chill, relaxing and good-vibes song while sitting next to someone I loved and surrounded by tons of people I love. Truly is amazing.
I can relate to that,I can remember when I was in my early 20s ( 1980s ) and The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunneymen was on 3D radio at 2.00 in the morning .After that ijust bought every album of them, I still love their music. This is a beautiful song.

I met my wife 7 years ago and showed her beach house before they were ever heard of... I ended up learning a majority of Beach House on the guitar, and I'll play them to her while she sings to me and my kids❤️

Just a few days ago, I held my sweet little rat Dewey to this song as he painlessly died from the euthanasia. He was my best friend and the only living creature that accepted me for everything. A lot of people don't know how loving and accepting rats really are, and I held my little guy where he was safe and knew he was loved, I held it together for him but as soon as he faded away in my arms I couldn't hold it in anymore. This song will forever hold a place in my mind where Dewey is spiraling free in space and his soul is prancing around me keeping me safe.
Rats are truly amazing friends. I had 3 when I was younger. The baby developed a huge tumor on her stomach so big she could only walk on 3 legs. We talked the vet down from $500 to $100 to remove it. He did and it eventually came back but baby lived a great rat life with her mom and aunt.
They all 3 loved to sit on top of the cage when the lid was off. One day baby was walking across the top and fell off, thrown off balance by her large tumor. She fell down between some books and the side of the cage, not far. I immediately grabbed her and she passed away in my hands as i cradled her. She let out a little final squeak and then she was gone as quickly as she fell. But she died feeling my love and she wasn’t alone.
This story has nothing to do with this song but just wanted to add my experience as to how amazing rats are. Those 3 creatures were a hilarious trio and all so extremely loving. 🙂❤️

Unbelievable how much amazing music there is that is never played on the radio. Most of the stations are 80's hits. Which I like, but there should be at least one station with music like this.

okay, so I was raised very religious and though I've drifted further and further from it over the years when I was younger I had a very intimate relationship with god or what i thought was god, still a bit 50/50 on that whole deal but anyway, when I prayed I would get this very surreal euphoric feeling sort of a self induced intimacy from the words I would use which reflected my deepest desires and fears. Reading your words just now I got that same feeling, the power and emotion of what you said was surreal to me and I just wanted to thank you for that, and hey if your other reviews are anything like that I am excited to take a look at some of your work.

November 6, 2015. I was staying at South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. I met this guy one night (we met online) and we decided to meet in person at the casino. After a few beers we decide to walk down the street to his apartment. We get there; we lay around, we talk, we listen to music, we play this song on repeat, and get into some other things. After several cheap beers and this song on repeat, the night had came to an end and he walked me back to my Hotel. Before I left his room I wrote a note promising I would keep in contact with him. We get back to the hotel, we walk and talk for hours until we get a good buzz. He meets my friends, we all exchange numbers and take pictures. He has to leave. We hug and share a small kiss. The next morning I left Vegas and couldn't stop thinking about him. We kept in contact for seven months after and even tried long distance, but it didn't work out. You will forever be in my heart with this song

Beach House usually have incredible closers on all of their albums.
I first remember seeing Beach House at the Reverent Fog Festival in 2006. After hours of drinking Sparks in the sun and messy antics, somehow everyone held it together to be captivated by this ethereal music.
I was in my mid-20s but I never felt much of a connection to anyone, even my close friends. I had fantasies of being a better, cooler, self-assured person but they dissipated each night as I struggled to find the right combination of booze and drugs to bring out this imaginary better me.
Still, I remember moments, like seeing Beach House at the G-Spot on Falls Road, watching my friends and feeling together in enjoying something beautiful.
Over the years, listening to old Beach House songs filled me with a strange nostalgia for a worse life.
The pandemic broke my spirit and brought me back, uncomfortably close to those times. I cried throughout the winter, filled with sadness and insecurity and despair and a fear that I was broken and this was forever.
I turned 40 in July. I was just regaining my footing when my beloved dog got sick. She was my world, and such a big part of my growth from that troubled person I used to be. I begged her for just one more year. "Not now, after just turning 40, after this awful winter. Just one more year."
It turned out to be an infection, and she recovered. But I was still exhausted and shaken.
Then, in September, she got sick again. I realized that she had been infected by the contaminated water in Stony Run, a creek I'd let her splash in since she was a puppy. It was her favorite thing to do. But I'd known that water was gross. Her suffering was my fault.
With all the pet ERs backed up during the pandemic, things moved slow. I had a hard time getting her to take her medication once I got it. I stayed home from work and slept downstairs on the couch to be near her while I nursed her back to health.
On the afternoon of September 15th, she was so sick and struggling to breathe. I couldn't stop crying even though I expected Maple to get better.
To calm myself down, I looked up old Beach House songs. When I ran out of the familiar stuff, I found this album, which I'd never listened to before.
This song stopped me in my tracks. I played it over and over as I cried. Right up until the moment when Maple stopped breathing.
The beautiful song looped in my head for days as walked around in a daze, heartbroken, trying to accept I was living in a world without her in it.
As the months have gone by, it would replay in my mind again in my many sad moments. I have had a hard time letting go of that horrible September day, and the sweet smiling dog's face I'd never see again.

Today, on the anniversary of the date I got Maple from the SPCA, I walked to the bridge at Stony Run. Her favorite spot. The creek that killed her.
I tossed rocks into the water to say goodbye. Rocks for my regrets and for the things about her that I will always miss. Twelve rocks: one for each year of her life.
I bought this album, and intently listened to this song again and let the swell of memories from September 15th wash over me.
This song will always bring me close to that day, the last time I touched the soft scruff my greatest friend, the dog who helped me find the strength to build the life that I want.
I will never be able to listen to this song without sobbing. I am so grateful for it.
Kara, so sad yet so beautiful at the same time. Whenever someone I know loses their beloved dog, I note that our cherished little friends are with us for such a short time. They are little candles that burn with a brilliant light and give us warmth that we find in few other places. Our hearts are cut to the core when our little friends leave us, yet we know that the world was made a little better by the precious time we had the privilege to spend with them.

It's a very sensual song. I remember being slightly disappointed the first time I heard it compared to the phenomenal endings of Bloom and Depression Cherry. But there's something about it's enticing and consistent melody that makes it easier to listen to repeatedly. I've listened to it a lot. It's a great slow dance song, and a better bedroom song.

This song has David Lynch written all over it. The vibe is dreamy and surreal with a hint of gloom. It would have fit into Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart (accident scene), Mulholland Drive or just about any of them (except Dune). Who knows, perhaps Lynch will find a place for it in his next film.

I really love this song it really touches my heart.
To me it is about a very pure expression of feelings of longing in the distance to a different time, one may has experienced or wishes to have experienced.
"Pink and blue were dancing" seems to referencing a boy and a girl (in a stereotypical manner) who are having a very special night. There are sometimes these moments where one knows that it is a very special moment and that it will never be forgotten. These moments are often connected to a special bond and relation between persons, that may be short and fleeting but pure.
The line: " Love me, see what I see tonight (see what I see, see what I see)", tries to indicate that we just want to love and be loved very genuinely and that we should change perspectives in order to see each other as people who are all just searching for these special moments of connection.
It may also be about a protagonists who is sometimes thinking back to one special night, and it always gives him hopes that these moments are possible to reach. The old man in "Old man finds elation" may reference himself, and that these memories help him to face feelings of feeling useless and not worthy of these special moments.
in order to witness these special moments one may need to leave the comfort zone because these experiences are "Nowhere on an ordinary night".
I hope that, when somebody buys me tickets for one of their sold-out shows in San Francisco, everybody begins to slow-dance when they play this song. Can we all do that as fans, you guys? Whenever they play this when you see them live, grab your boo or ask a lovely lady/gent if you could have this dance with them.

my favourite memory of this song was last year when we had just graduated and went to this hotel for my one friends birthday. there were 5 of us, we all used to be close but we stopped hanging out as a group, that was the first time we were together in a long time and it was the last. anyway it was late and we were all sitting out on the balcony looking at the lights flickering whilst some of us were high and this song was quietly playing in the background. none of us spoke but we were secretly enjoying our last moments together.
