TIPS for watermelon from a tropical girl. :p
1) Pick a few up and feel the weight.
2) It should feel heavier than it looks.
3) Tap it and it should sound hollow and vibrate on the palm it's resting on. The more hollow sounding, the juicier.
4) If a watermelon is harvested when it's ripe, it'll have a lighter underside (reason why the uglier non equally coloured ones are better :p)
Hope that helps! :p
Thank youuuuu!
@@LoeppkysLife My pleasure Delilah! =)
Oh girl you know the trick
@@margarbieadams8200 Thank you! :p Oh la la! =D
thank you! my daughter lovessss watermelon and i can never find a good one!!
Not imposing, but Eloise is the one who has to do the grocery haul. That's her thing, you can't take that away. We learn about new food from her. Missed her today.😍😍🤗😉
I know! She does it so much better than me 🙃
Tip: buy a mint and basil plant and have in your kitchen for whenever you need them. If you treat them nicely they will provide you much longer than the packages from the store
I need to start doing that thank you!
E l perfect tip. I always keep my mint, basil, green chillies n coriander plants. They survive very well in the small kitchen pots.
Also thyme, rosmary, parsley are great to have at home as plants
@@shabalavallee3691 mine...all die. I don't get why. We're Italian so we do use a ton of basil, maybe we over used them.
My cat will eat them allll
In case anyone’s wondering deep freezers also can store pumped breast milk for 12 months!!!! Fully recommend!
Yes!!
I have my last ever bag of Breast milk and I won’t move it out of the freezer 😂🙈😭
@@shivp22 You can send some of that milk to creators on Etsy etc. to make jewelry out of it.
That’s originally why we bought our’s and now it comes in so handy for frozen foods!
Valele Kalele yes! I’ve just recently discovered this! I already have an instagram shop bookmarked to get in contact with soon
Great tips! I live in Ontario and every time I see an American grocery haul I'm a tad jealous of the prices lol. I meal plan 1 week at a time, trying to use what we have on hand first, then I use the Flipp app to look for sales and meal plan around the sales. Price matching saves us quite a bit of money!
Eloise: *"Chuk-a-mole!"*
Delilah: ...
Delilah: oh are you saying chipmunk??
Eloise: yes!!
Lol😅 so cute💕
i know it’s probably so hard with 2 kiddos but if possible you should really do a week of what we eat video! or like a dinner week one
Sammi Cichello hi Sammi! I do videos like that on my channel 😊
I’m 22 and pregnant with my first, a baby girl due December 30th and I found your channel towards the beginning of my pregnancy and have been absolutely in love with you and your family ever since. You inspire me and motivate me to be more confident in young motherhood, marriage, and womanhood as a follower of Christ. Thank you for working so hard to make videos for us!
Same here! Mine is due January 12 😄
Kelly and Lacey you gonna be best Moms!!! All the best♥️
In Florida fresh veggies and fruit are pretty cheap because its a farming state. It makes it easy to eat healthy on a budget.
Also stuff thats in season is cheaper!
I wish. In Calgary everything is soooo expensive 7$ for a tiny square of blueberry
Hey Delilah! Use the app Flip when you go to Walmart or anywhere that price matches. You just search for the item you're looking for and it will tell you where it is on sale in your area. You can clip the coupon on the app and show it to the cashier for matching. I use this all the time at Walmart for things like groceries, shampoo, deodorant etc.
Thank you!!
You could probably scan it at the self checkout 2! If I had to guess 😂
Tip: I would suggest to invest in a bread maker! Costs lest to buy flour and yeast than to buy bread, and it's more delicious! No added additives when is home made, more healthy for all family members, and the smell, oh!! To die for 😄 hope it helps. It definitely did with us. Big hugs xx
Keeping inventory is huge! And meal prepping! That saves so much money. Agree with all you mentioned!
Girl the thumbnail for this is perfect! 😍
I've been looking forward to this video! If possible could you make a mealplan video? Or talk about some of the dinners you like to cook? You always have great ideas, definitely trying the watermelon salad!
never skip the ads watching your vids !! i absolutely adore your family
Giving me motivation to go grocery shopping 😂 I’ve been procrastinating it for like, 2 weeks 😅
To keep in budget, I shop online, my food is delivered to my home from the Supermarket! Every time I shop, I get points! I then convert my points which gives me free delivery for 6 months at a time! This saves me time, petrol and I find I can stay within my budget much easier! I adore your channel and your lovely family! Love Jackiex ❤️🥰❤️xxx
We love a new loeppky video
Holy cow I’m AMAZED at how empty you can get your fridge!! You really use stuff up. That’s amazing!! 😍
These videos are always so satisfying!
Wow this is helpful!! I love saving money on groceries and eating! It gets so crazy experience sometimes. Thanks for a great video ❤️❤️❤️
Haven’t even watched the video yet but want you to know how cute and perfect the thumbnail is!! 👏🏻❤️
I love how real this was. Thanks for the tips!
I just love you and your family ☺️ I always pray for you guys and hope nothing but the best!
New to your channel and love your content! It’s hard to compare myself to some moms on CZcams who go to Target, Starbucks, and chick-fil-a all the time. No offense to them, I’m just a minimalist. We don’t even have those around here. Haha Also, I just can not afford all the stuff they buy 😅
Also thank you for including God in some of your videos! Very refreshing 😊
Wow, 21$ for a day is huge!
We live in Germany and try to spend 11$ a day. There (in Canada) must be really expensive coasts on grocery!
It’s pretty pricey 😬 And the prices keep rising with new taxes being put in place 😞
I also live in Germany and I thought like “wow 21$ a day... that’s like something over 600$ a month” but then I converted it in € and it’s 433€ a month for two adults and a toddler. That’s pretty good I’d say. Even for German prices... but you can definitely go for like 350€ a month if you buy the cheaper groceries.
It depends on what you eat I guess, we eat relatively healthy and I would say I spend under $10 a day and I’m in Ontario Canada.
Depends on where you live. I live in Ontario (Toronto) where it’s pretty cheap
Nastja Z. My husband and I just recently moved from Germany to Alaska and the price difference for groceries is astonishing. We spent about €80 a wk in DE whereas here we spend easily the equivalent of €160 for our family!
I love your food videos! You give such great tips on meal, recipe, and shopping ideas that are fairly healthy and inexpensive. I have an 11 month old who eats like crazy so I'm trying really hard to eat healthier so he knows the importance of eating healthy growing up. Your videos have given me some great advice on doing that. 🖤
Putting fresh herbs in the freezer! Can cut them up before if needed but retain their fresh flavour much better than drying them. They also take no time defrosting so can put it directly in dinners or on foods for presentation (or in drinks! Favourite is rosemary in gin and tonic)
Your daughter is just too cute she might be able to do I just love your you guys have a blessed day ❤️💙
I had no idea you could get bread at the dollar store!! This video was very helpful, thank you for sharing, Delilah! 💓 PS your kids are so adorable haha, Eloise saying "yeah!" at the beginning was so cuuute 🥺
To make veggies cheaper, I generally hit up a farmers market (Season permitting, I do live in Minnesota, so I generally only get a few months of it.) Generally I can get things in bulk for much cheaper, and end of season I can get a ton for very cheap, as most people want to get rid if the excess they can't use. If I can't use it right away, I either can, or freeze it for another day. Also for quick meals, chopping up things like peppers, carrots, peas, broccoli and cubing up some chicken and putting it in baggies (keeping the meat separate) and just using that as a quick stir fry is very nice and very healthy. I agree with you on the deep freeze. We have a smaller one and it is always full of things. I reorganize and do an inventory every couple weeks so I know whats left and plan meals based on what I have.
So many things that we buy over in Ontario too 😊 you’re so right, groceries are not cheap here! I feel like they’re going up in price constantly 😫
Fellow canadian here! I do the exact same thing! dinner plans then grocery plan. i even break down the grocery list into veggies/fruit, meat/dairy, pantry, bakery/misc. grocery shopping is much faster that way
Am I the only one who wish to see the new crib?? What happened with the current crib? I like cribs. Lol. It took me like a month to chose my son's crib haha
Hey, in Ontario, our mcafe coffee is $26 at Walmart and $19 at Costco for an even bigger bucket. Not sure if it's the same by you, but if it is, you save $7 and get more coffee 🤗
I love watching all your videos are really very nice videos
All of these things are things my husband and I have talked about doing so many times (especially with an almost two year old), but have never been able to stick with. We definitely want to try to do better with buying things in bulk and keeping stuff in the freezer and pantry.
Hi Delilah, awesome video as usual! Would you be able to add the recipe for your watermelon feta salad in an upcoming video or in the description? I would LOVE to try it!
One thing that revolutionized my meal planning and grocery shopping was to take inventory of everything we have and try to plan meals starting with those ingredients, particularly ones that need to be used up, then go from there. Idea from Kallie over at But First Coffee
Loved the content.
I follow a very similar meal strategy for my family too. Being organized REALLY pays off in Canada. The main principle I follow when looking up recipes on Pinterest is : try not to choose recipes that have a ton of “weird” ingredients I won’t get use of. I choose recipes that have mostly ingredients that I can use in multiple ways/meals and that won’t go bad before I can make use of it. Or, I just substitute similar items: ie) olive oil for avocado oil, etc
To save money and eat a little healthier, we bake our own bread in bulk and freeze. 😊 Also we use the Flipp app.
Thanks for this video Delilah! Cheers from Ontario!
Great video! I'm in BC 🇨🇦 and yes groceries are so pricy. I spend about the same shopping between Costco and Superstore for our family of 3 - I use Superstore because of their reward points. We have a 19 month old son so similar family situation. I'd love to see these hauls more regularly
Loved the grocery haul video...... you're veggie dip recipe you were talking about could you post the recipe 🤔
Yay for relatable Canadian content!
Pleeeeease pleaseeeeeee make a cooking video!!!!!!! I used to love watching them when I was pregnant (so were you♥️) and it was so awesome to see videos of you making quick snacks, etc... It was also very relaxing the way you would edit the videos as you chopped the salads etc LOL! Hello all the way from San Diego, CA from little Ghaaliya (3.5 months) to you and little baby boy, Elo and hubby! 👏🏼
I love doing watermelon and feta! It’s the best combo 🍉
We totally have “par” levels of things in our fridge/pantry. We always have the basics of eggs bread and (non) dairy. But I also have my rotation of stores thru the month. I think having the basics on hand is so helpful for not splurging on take out. I also will pick a flavor theme for the weeks dinners to avoid being bored. I can/jar/freeze a lot from our garden for the winter. Or when I find a good deal. I need to do a no buy month here soon to cut down on my pantry levels tho. I moved here from a very good insecure city, and tend to put up a little too much extra.
I love your videos!!!!!
I live in Canada as well, not in Saskatchewan but in Alberta. Groceries can definitely be very expensive, but if you plan very well, and maybe take advantage of price matching (such as at superstore) you can get quite a bit for a good price! My fiancé and I spend $50 per week on groceries (this is not including random items such as cleaning products), and we cook the majority of our meals. We don’t eat any meat, dairy or eggs though so that saves us a ton of money 🙂
Ooooh please tell us your veggie cream cheese dip recipe. 🙂
Sounds so good.
Great video and ideas, I need to be better with my shop and meal plan. X
if you love using fresh herbs you should get a little kitchen herb garden in a little pot or tins and if you have an abundance of them you can cut them up, put them in ice cube trays with water, freeze, and when you're ready to use them just pop them out, throw them into warm dishes, and they defrost in no time. Or they're great in water bottles too.
I want to do that! The only problem is we don’t have a spot with direct sunlight in our house 😞
@@LoeppkysLife There are some herbs- like cilantro where this might be a problem, but herbs like basil, mint, chives, parsley, you should be fine as long as they get some indirect sunlight throughout the day! I worked in a grocery store back in high school and we had herb plants sit inside for very long periods of time with no windows and they were fine!!
plus little herb gardens are soooo cute and would look beautiful in their kitchen
I didn’t know about the dollar store selling bread. I’m definitely going to check out my local one now!
thank you for this video!!
Heeeyy!!! Can I just share I started watching this after putting my 1 yr old to bed and when Theo cried my heart stopped because I thought it was my son and I was going to have a sleepless night! 😂😂😂 small panic attack! But love your videos Delilah you’re so inspirational
El and Theo are soooo adorable ❤❤❤
Definitely writing a list based on your meals written and sticking to it is extremely helpful for us. We also do not include toiletries or cleaners in our grocery budget. We usually are under every time 😊
Sometimes I just cannot believe how young you guys are😱 i remember how i was when i was your age...around 15years ago🙈 an i am getting these life tips from you! I mean...how??? 👍👍👍
My grocery tip is to check apps or online catalogs of the shops where I do shopping, thus I compare prices in different places and can find nice deals) thank you for your tips!:)
Omg Eloise is so adorable!!!
❤ in love with Eloise and Theo ❤
I live in the states and we don't have Walmart grocery delivery for my area. There's a neighborhood market 7 minutes down the road from me. But I use their drive up all the time with 3 kids!
I’ve recently started budgeting (seriously budgeting) for our family and our “rule of thumb” is $100 per person, per month for groceries (there are 3 of us). I know that may not seem ethical for all families but it does work for ours and honestly, I’ve noticed that I end up spending less! I got this tip from Jordan Page on FunCheaporFree.
Also, when it comes to pre packaged food and if you have the time, buy all the ingredients you need to make the dish (like the burritos) that way you can control what’s in them and save a ton of money.
Thanks for sharing! Eloise and Theo are adorable! ❤️
$100 per week is a crazy amount of money per week. When I was a poor student I spent around £15 per week because I couldn't afford to spend more, I wasn't having the most nutritious meals but I'm sure for nutritious food I could have spent around £30-40 a week. Why do you need to spend so much for just one person?
Lorna Hind oh my land! I’m sorry lol I meant $100 per month per person😲 so for my family that’s about $75 a week...so sorry 😐
@@breamckinnon4730 75 a week is really good for a family of 3!
Have you considered growing your own little herb plants? You can save a little money, have fresh herbs all the time, and they're super cute decoration!
I live in Panama and grocery shopping can be as expensive as it is in Canada, even when buying in bulk. Thanks for the tips!
He Delilah! I’m from Alberta, we shop very similar to you except I use to Flipp app to get the store I’m shopping at to price match, you can search by specific items.
Do you have superstore near you? I really like their reward card system. The points add up quickly and you redeem points just like cash when you’re paying for items.
Hi,
Could you do a Video about Meal-Ideas?
I use a grocery app that's amazing. It saves recipes in your phone and you can use that database to choose a meal plan for the week. Then you can quickly just send that meal plan over to your grocery list on the app and it separates all the ingredients for you into categories (dairy, veggies, etc.). I feel like it saves me so much money because I only buy exactly what I need for meals.
Pretty new to your channel! Love your content. I have a 2.5 yr old and 5 month old as well! we are in Alberta (hubby is from SK, kind of fun to see some familiar places in your vids). We do almost all of our grocery shopping at superstore. They have click and collect as well, and I use my PC mastercard there. I find i get points so quickly to use towards groceries, maybe look into that?
you should try couponing. i know it might be a lot of work but just do it on the simple way. it saves you a lot of money! 💛
Impressive! Thanks for he tips! I’m in the US But it’s very pricey cost of living here so I’m always on the look out for tips! I’ll have to check out dollar tree I had no idea they sold name brand bread!
We go to aldi and food lion for extra stuff, and get our groceries every two weeks. We don’t have hardly any storage, but I can get food groceries for our family of 5 no babies for 250$ every two weeks. I also order from amazon the subscribe and save for toilet paper, paper towels, dog food. I used to do that for diapers and wipes as well.
Amazing!! We spent $21 on chipotle yesterday 🤔 same thing right ?? 😂
Finally a realistic grocery shop! That converts to about $25 NZD which sounds about right, we spend around $250-300 per week for a family of 5 but we don't necessarily go for cheap bulk.
Love your vlogs 👍 👍 👍
We are vegetarian, so fresh veggies are important. So I always make sure I go grocery shopping every week, since things like mushrooms don't stay fresh. I plan dinner for the whole week and whatever other small item we need, then only buy what's on the list. We have rabbits, so the only time we go back out is to pick up fresh veggies for them.
Wow! Me and my boyfriend go through about 500$ a fortnight worth of shopping. We live in New Zealand and the supermarkets are slightly expensive. Especially healthy food.
Can you make a dinner recipes video pleaseeee
I plan my meals and then I look up all the prices of the groceries I need on superstores website and I know exactly what I'm spending! Also superstore has partnered with the app flashfood. They offer foods that are nearing their best before date for 50% off! I saw organic milk for under $4.
Hi! Thank you for all of the tips and thanks for your amazing videos!!! Did you know that mint can lower your milk supply? I replace mint with lemon balm that increases milk supply. ;)
I only have space for a mini-fridge with an even smaller freezer inside, so I can fit exactly one portion frozen spinach and two fish in there :D wish I could have more storage
Can you do a video on a meal planning and deep freezer?
3:03 I had so much fun 'big haul shopping' with my parents when I was little (at BJs tho not Costco). Eloise brought back so many memories of it. Seriously my (then) three siblings and I had a blast, so much so that my parents stopped going together so that one of them could stayed home with some of us since we were too distracting and too unruly XD
You should make sweet and sour (chicken or pork) stir fry! Omg it is so good! It takes a while to make but it’s really worth it! And if you make a big enough batch at one time then you have lunch for the next couple days :-)
For the orange sweet and sour sauce we use Western dressing, sesame seed oil. You can add honey or brown sugar as a natural sweetener too! Thin it out with soy sauce or water ☺️
I forgot to add for veggies you can do cooked broccoli, bell peppers, caramelized onions, celery and carrot coins!
Im so soft for Eloise ❤️
There is a few apps for inventory of what foods you have at home
YASSSSS 🙌🏼
How did the baby honest shampoo work out? Been thinking of trying it out too!
Invest in a bread maker! Ingredients are super cheap and the machine does it all from mixing to baking, just dump in the ingredients and wait!
From canada as well :) alberta!
Rebate apps like ibotta are awesome!!! I always use it and even gets things for free sometimes+
Haii!!!!
Do you use a specific app for your meal planning? I'm in Manitoba, it's so expensive for food!
hey!! not really a tip, but could count as one. you should start a small garden out in your backyard, it would save a lot of money because you wouldn't have to be buying all of the fruits and veggies from the store. plus, im pretty sure eloise would love to help with it!! we do this already and it's a life saver, recently are we just picked off some pumpkins and were planning on some pumpkin pie. but you can really grow anything, strawberry patches, tomatoes, peppers, ect. we also make our own salsa so we can make it how hot or chunky we want. it's really great!! much love from the us, this comment was rushed~
Crazy prices in Canada. In FL we make it on 60-70 bucks for two weeks. Still hurts but we make do. Hats off to making it work.
I do groceries once a week and meal plan around what’s on sale. We have 4 kids and spend on average around $250-$300 week. We live in Montréal, food prices and the taxes here are outrageous.
Hey girl you should consider upping your coffee budget to buy an ethically sourced one💕
"WAKamolE!" ".... OH are you saying chipmunk?" "yeah!" so stinking cute oh my lord
hey Delilah! can you please share with us how you prepare the oatmeal for Eloise? my 10 months old still eats the "baby" oatmeal, i tried cooking rolled oats for her but she didn't like it! thank you 🧡
Sarra' Khaled Maybe try doing 3 parts baby oatmeal with 1 part oats for a while and then gradually go half and half, 3 parts regular with 1 part baby, and then eventually all regular oats.
@@BreeandBaby that's a good idea! thanks :)
I live in Alaska and our family of 5 budget is SOOOOOO EXPENSIVE!!! THIS made me wish I lived in Canada haha
