It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but it's doable! But you have to want it, no one can give it to you. I watch these videos because "there but for the Grace of God go I". He's lost every ounce of dignity he's ever had. You can tell because he won't even look into the camera. His shame is overtly tangible. Horrible feeling.
They can't leave those people out into public because they spread disease. They should be restrained at the hospital and given treatment.

***I'm a retired medic. He may not be feeling pain in the area where his wounds are because the nerves are dead since the wounds are so deep. HE NEEDS TO BE HOSPITALIZED ASAP OR HE WILL DIE. THERE IS NO IFS ANDS OR BUTTS ABOUT IT. GOD, help this man. I understand addiction and why they don't seek medical care or continue it. But in this case, he will most likely die from his wounds (Sepsis is a infection in the blood) if not treated with iv antibiotics before the possibility of a OD. I pray he seeks further treatment. Unfortunately if he is found and no longer with us, it will just be recorded as a OD and that will be it. This man needs help.***

That's part of the problem, he indeed needed to be hospitalized, but the drugs out there are so strong that they almost always refuse treatment or if they do go they simply walk away in a day or too, this is why I keep saying in videos like this, that the old mental hospitals need to reopen, so people like him can be saved from themselves, sadly this man did indeed die yet another victim of these toxic drugs like fentanyl.....

@@phoenixman8569 @phoenixman8569 That is why when in the hospital they need to be given a substitute for the drugs they are taking like prescribed heroin or methadone in order to keep them in the hospital to complete what ever treatment is required for how ever long is needed because most of them get out refusing treatment exactly because they cannot go more then a few hours in between doses without getting very sick ! Its very easy to say that they should just tough it out and go thru treatment for what ever they have without a prescribed opiate substitute but it simply doesn't work that way the withdrawal is so unbearable that no addict in the world will endure it for any kind of treatment and if it takes prescribing heroin or methadone to save a life from blood infection or what ever it is they have then so be it because these people are much more likely to die from sepsis or other things then actual over dose and when you get to a point like matt it is almost impossible for them to over dose so much their tolerance is high I should know because at the end of my opiate use I could literally take all I wanted and I still couldn't feel anything all it did was remove the sickness it no longer made me nod or pass out like you see in many users on the streets when they are half awake. I only ever over dosed when I was just starting to use and didn't have that much of a tolerance.

My wife's sister died from drug use. We all assumed it was a overdose. However it was concluded that she died from infection caused by a dirty needle. Is their a single family that has not been affected by drugs.

He looks so horrible, he's so damn pale and sick looking, along with the infection. He needs medical help like now. He looks like he could die right here, poor guys. Miracles happen though. What is going on with the dope these days that's giving people wounds like that. Addicts didn't used to have wounds anywhere near that bad, so it's clear there's something else in it.
@billj4525 Yeah Bill, you're 💯 % correct it's the damn Xylazine they are cutting into Fentynal so that it lasts longer (which is being sold as Heroin). The whole thing started off in Puerto Rico around 10-15 years ago. As addictive and nasty as Heroin is, you would never get those injuries from using it. Unless you injected repeatedly into an artery or some crazy stuff like that. The Xylazine situation has been declared a national health emergency. Biden announced a 90-day consultation on the issue. I'm afraid Jeff doesn't have 90 days. 😞

It's up there. There are several real sad ones where the addict is just in horrible shape and looks like they're about to die right there without medical help, and this guy is up there. I feel for him because of his mothers death, and falling out with his sister. Miracles can happen though, and if he can get help and stay clean that could change his whole life.

All the dead tissue needs to be removed for any regrowth. He is looking at sepsis and organ failure; in his current condition he will be lucky to save both arms. The hospital didn't want to tell him he is dying. The reason he feels no pain is because his arms are dead. Who knows how bad his legs are.
This is total neglect on his part; he gave up on his health in favor of his addiction. At 36, Matt is the poster child for addiction.

Im not a medical professional, but I agree with you. Matt was probably non compliant while hospitalized putting others at risk of catching MRSA from him. So sad. He has probably burned his sister out and she now must wait to see when he is serious about recovery.

It does seem like Matt was septic from the stiffness and other issues. It was just a matter of time before it ended his life. Praying for these ppl and so many others. This goes beyond addiction. The drug supply is completely toxic. I use to say Full legalization and regulation was the best answer and I do still believe that but I don't know what can be done for these people now. Maybe they could come up with a chemical alkaloid that would still get you high and get them well but wouldn't eat away the flesh like that. I've heard Clonidine is related to xylazine and helps with withdrawal. It's a common drug.

I have so many friends who struggle with intractable pain. Because of the overdose crisis, people with intractable pain and chronic pain are being pushed aside and ignored. I know several people who have started using illicit fentanyl to help their pain. Our government isn't helping anyone. They're taking in vast amounts of settlement money, but they aren't helping addicts recover, nor are they helping people in pain. BOTH sides are suffering, BOTH sides deserve help.
It is heart breaking to see such a young man reduced to what is a zombie. 😢

I don’t believe for a minute that the hospital discharged him like that. He probably left AMA. His wounds are extensive, infected and he’s in need of IV antibiotics, not “cream” as he’s stated. He’s malnourished, dehydrated and probably with lab results suggesting acute kidney failure, if not more co-morbidities. He may even need PT/OT as he appears deconditioned. After his acute stay in the hospital, he will probably qualify for medical necessity for a SNF. He’s lying. The drugs called him back to the streets. He’s not ready to change his life yet. @@JaneCooper190072 The "new" thing is fentanyl. I work in detox and it's almost all we see anymore. It's really blown up over the past 2-3 years on the street level. It's a synthetic opioid. Now, they're adding/cutting it with xylazine and some users don't even know. Most don't know if the fentanyl they're buying will have it mixed in. The xylazine is the "tranquilizer" or barbiturate. They call it "tranq". It's getting increasingly worse every day. If people inject the xylazine or fentanyl/xylazine mixture, the injection site becomes an abscess that, pretty much, will not heal and spreads unmercifully.

This is incredibly devastating and heart breaking. I experienced many years of addiction and was homeless in Kensington, I have never seen anything like this. And I know this is super common to see in the bad lands now, it’s mind blowing, my generation is dying and there is just so little help out there for them. Make me so sad for our future. Pretty sure when you’re righ on fentanyl + tranq, you too busy being high to be scared. Probably an oh I’ll deal with it tomorrow situation but tomorrow is the same as today, getting high. Breaks my heart.

If his Sister sees this she will realize its now or never to see him. I fear he does not have long at all. Im not a medical professional, but I don’t see how you can survive this and overcome addiction at the same time. I don’t know if Matt fully realizes how close he is. Wounds on his legs too. His whole body is rotting from the inside out. 😔 and he’s still using. Just so sad.

In normal circumstances a dying and/or paralyzed bird flopping around on the sidewalk would make most a little uncomfortable, but they just carry on their conversation like it’s not even there because look at the sad reality of this place. That neighborhood is Hell on Earth.
Yeah, in any other neighborhood if someone was walking around looking like that it would be an emergency, and people would be calling an ambulance when seeing him as well as maybe checking on him, but in Kensington no one cares, even with someone in this bad of shape, it's a brutal brutal place.
This is self-harm, psychological help is needed, whether or not voluntarily. Matt can not make good decisions on his own. Poor man, help so far is too little and too late.

I like to believe that a truly omnipotent creator would intentionally behave more strictly while also knowing to give some leeway to those who did try to live helpful lives but never got a chance to seek a higher power
Everyone gets a chance to seek God at some point, even if on their deathbed.
And all it takes is 1 moment, and someone can be saved forever.
Salvation has nothing to do with the good or bad things we have done in our lives; salvation has everything to do with the grace of God and his goodness.
I believe whether someone will accept Jesus or not is ordained by God before they were even created. And it is God's will to save sinners and heal the sick.
If God says he will do something, that's what he's going to do.
He's resting in peace if he called out to the Lord Jesus Christ before he died. Jesus can offer eternal peace with God He did that when He died on a cross for our sins. Jesus was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life again for our justification. That's why Jesus can give us eternal life. He already died and conquered hell and death for us and when He rose from the dead He promised to save all those who call on Him. Jesus saves ❤️

This made me cried my brother was like this and I did not disowned him I tried to help him and he was homeless here in Indiana but now he's in jail I don't have to worry about him I would never shut my phone off I feel so sorry for this guy that he don't have no family and his sister will not have nothing to do with him I would be his sister😢😢😢😢😢😢

I hope that watching this video will motivate non-addicts to never try drugs, and addicts to take the decision to seek help and work the hard path to get clean… Matt was 36, and rather than making his dreams come true he met an abrupt end, which is a colossal waste of humanity.

Wow, I'm 36 years old too and even though I used to do drugs I never even came close to that, thank God I've been sober for 48 months, all I did was change my environment. I hate seeing people lose their lives to drugs, I've had so many friends overdose and die from fentanyl, I pray that their eyes get open and they can get a way from the drugs, sending prayers to those who are still lost in the wilderness

As an addict in recovery, my heart bleeds for this man. Seeing those flies hovering around that necrotic flesh like vultures is a sign of how close he is to the end. Ultimately, this is a consequence of criminalisation and xylazine adulteration. If an unadulterated supply were available until he was ready to get clean, those wounds would not exist. And no, people would not just use continually. In Switzerland, where it is a reality, people tend to stabilise, get their life in order, and start to reduce. This is harrowing and the worst wounds I have seen. Another tragic and avoidable casualty of the War On Drugs.
The 'War on Drugs' is over in America. drugs have been decriminalized in most major cities and this is what has happened since they decriminalized it. The drugs are poisoned on purpose to kill off the weakest. Drugs are supplied by governments, Chinese and American and both in cahoots with the Cartels of Latin and South America to get it into the streets/communities. Same sh*t they did with the 'Crack Epidemic' all orchestrated by the GOVERNMENTS(S). He is in the shape he is in because he has chosen to do drugs for decades and not once stop to take care of his health. Nothing to do with laws or criminalization of sh*t. It's a personal choice to do drugs like this.

It’s hard when you don’t have nothing or no one to help you , he’s all alone in one of the worst cities in America where there is a free open drug market He’s in ground zero where fentanyl and crack thrive at. He has no family, no resources, absolutely nothing, the streets and the lifestyle will kill him eventually, I hope not but I was an ex addict before been 9 years clean , you know who will make it or won’t make it and by looking at him he’s threw he’s accepted the outcome he has adapted to this vicious drug disease lifestyle .

I saw one small thing hanging down from the smallest wound and one thing hanging down from the big wound. To me it seemed like something that had fallen off the wound like when a wound heals and that brown thing falls off.

Also, I totally agree with you that people like him could benefit from prescribed Heroin like in some European countries.
However, he didn't complain about having withdrawls while being in hospital.

He was in hospital for 3 weeks a month ago. Before that he was also in hospital for three weeks. That's six weeks!
Yet he looks like this!
I have no idea what's going on but he doesn't seem like he was fed whatsoever during those hospital stays!
No one can get this skinny within a month if they were fed properly before.
It's just so frustrating and fucked up the whole system.
