When all is said and done, my go-to method for cooking bacon is stovetop frying. Some say oven baking is the way to go. I've tried it many times, usually when making breakfast for a large group. Otherwise, I find it faster to cook on the stovetop. czcams.com/video/mRO6MuQc48Q/video.html
Finally someone done a fair video with no motive other than finding out the truth. There's a big cooking channel that claims "cooking with water is way better and you won't go back to cooking without water again!" 😂 I tried it with water, perhaps I added too much water. It took too long. So I tried cooking it without water, it's much faster, and at medium low, the bacon wasn't burned, it was crisped. And much faster for me.
Thank you.
Nice. Lil olive oil /butter slow cook. Scoop oil out as i cook. With spoon. Save fat , for eggs. Or crisp chicken skin. Adds nice flavor.
Thanks for the recipe
I love bacon. It is so good.
This is really mouth watering and great recipe!
🙂 I agree!
What recipe? it's just bacon.
@@user-ci1kz1cc6tI know...right. They must mean the adding water recipe. 😂
Use tongs with rubber tips. It's easier to flip, and it's easier on your pans, instead of using that fork, which will damage your pans.
We disagree. Use the utensils you prefer. I'm very careful NOT to damage my pans.
The main reason I'd put water in the pan when cooking bacon is to help the fat render without spitting it all over my stove
I.e when I don't feel like cleaning up a tonne of grease that spit everywhere lol
True. Grease spatter is annoying. I try to watch the stove temperature to control as much spatter as possible.
Thanks for sharing. Crispy bacons are my favorite but not burnt. Gaging when to reduce the heat is key .. .the sizzling sound as in sausages, fried chicken/fish, homemade fries/onion ring, etc. ---Love to hear thoughts on this--
I think we should each cook bacon to our desired crispness. Some like bacon chewy, others crisp, and still others like burnt. I don't judge.
It makes sense that you'd get similar results since once the water evaporates, it's cooking the same as the non-water pan. What might be more amusing is to see what would happen if you boiled the bacon for a bit and then let it crisp up at the end. Would boiling cook it faster due to the higher thermal mass of the water? Guess I'll have to do an experiment to see....
And what did you discover?
Thank you for this
My pleasure!
A metal fork in a teflon pan?
Was thinking the same thing.
Me too!!! AAAAhhh, I can't unsee it! My eyes, my eyes! Seriously though, metal fork and teflon, not a good idea. Helpful video, though. :)
I wasn't intending on driving to the shop for streaky bacon... But off I go!
When you use the water method, you're supposed to bring the thin later of water to a boil first, then add the bacon.
Thanks for the video...I'm making bacon as I type this
2:45 am now i want a bacon egg and cheese sammich
Great video. I love cooking videos.
Thanks.

YW
Excellent advice. Thank you.
Thank you. I appreciate you.
You know...this experiment needs to be done a few times for more exact results!
Have at it. 🙂IMO there's nothing exact about cooking bacon. There are too many variables from person to person, kitchen to kitchen, and bacon to bacon.
@@JustOneDonna I've done it 5 packs worth of times...Its safe to say its working quite well :D
I always tell my wife , who is also named Donna .. Not to use a fork on non stick pans!...😂😇
While this is generally good advice, those of us who are very careful can use whatever utensil we prefer. I've had my nonstick pans for years and years with no scratches.🙂I find it more beneficial to use a barrier between my pans when storing so one pan doesn't rub on the other when stacked.
I absabsolutely love crispy bacon.and you can cook a whole load and snack on it cold later.
Absolutely!
yummm 😊
I though so, too! Thanks for your support!🙂
Its tasty!
Mmmmmm bacon ❤😂🎉😊
What an excuse to eat eight slices of bacon. Hee-haw!
Is an excuse really needed?🙂
😂
Who needs an excuse, its like left over bacon there is no such thing
I need to try this method as I am an air fry guy.
You should! I should try the air fryer, too.
@@JustOneDonna Thanks for your reply. I'm single and I only eat once a day so it's so much easier for me to air fry everything. The bad thing about air fry is the bacon has less flavor sine the bacon doesn't sit in grease. The upside is It's easy to pour that grease in a bottle to save for later. Love my Ninja air fryer!
Thanks Donna. Remember that God loves you 🙂
Nice video.
Thanks!
So what exactly was the point of your video? At the end there didn't seem to be any difference b etween the two.
Exactly. There are many who say cooking bacon in water is the "new, best" way to cook bacon. Is it? You decide.
Setting them aside for 3 min is the way to make them crunchy? They don't look crunch when taken out.
Boiling ham was a Sunday staple growing up. With enough water to boil the pork some of the salt is dissolved out of the pork. Some love super salty ham/bacon, others not so much. With the little bit of water you used, it quickly evaporated resulting in two pans of fried bacon. Not much difference as the results showed. More water would result in a true boiled bacon, but it wouldn’t be crispy.
Thanks for your input.
Interesting 🤔. So the water helps to cook more evenly
Here’s the thing for all you bacon scientists there is no wrong way to cook bacon
The best way to cook bacon is in the oven. The strips cook evenly and they remain straight. I never fry bacon... not even in water.
"BEST" is in the eye of the beholder, Alan. 🙂I use the oven method when I'm making bacon for a crowd. My oven takes too long to preheat for just a few pieces of bacon and I prefer stovetop.
And the grease sprays and splatters all over the oven.
so it DOES?!?! People swear up and down it doens't. thought I did something wrong! And, I got a smokey blast in the face when I opened the oven door. I've also tried the water method and didn't think it did much except create little white scummy bits that eventually burnt in my pan@@williamfisher2906
Never had crispier bacon than when I used water. It was divine
I've never tried the water method, (though I plan to), but so far I really love cooking it in the oven. It comes out crispy yet more tender than on the stovetop. I don't find that there's that much splatter in the oven.
I believe you needed to cover the top of bacon with water.
Metal utensils in a non stick pan. How original.
When you are careful it works. I am careful.🙂
Love the "scientific" approach, but Donna ..., metal utensils in non-stick pans???
LOL, if I had a $ for every time someone expresses concern about this! Really, I don't scratch my non-stick pans with my utensils, but thanks for your concern.🙂
I’ll never understand the appeal of making bacon that crispy.. If I want something crispy I would just buy a packet of potato chips 😂
That's the wonderful thing about cooking at home. You get to decide what you like!!! You do You! 🙂
Yeah good one your a genius 😑😑😑😑😑
I thought I was an odd ball for not liking crispy bacon. I like mine with a little flop to it.
I don't see the point of adding water. It will just take longer for the bacon to crisp since you're just going to have the water evaporate.
In this video I showed that both methods took the same amount of time to achieve the same results.
it didn't
They are non stick pans, you don't even need the water.
There are 3 main reasons some prefer adding water. 1)So the bacon retains moisture and tenderness. 2) The water helps render the fat and reduce spatters. 3) To reduce burning and maintain a consistent, crispy result. It has zero to do with the type of pan.
you are beautiful
LMAO!
Overcooked
Isn't is wonderful you have the option of cooking your bacon to the level of crispiness you love when cooking at home?
not for most people
They look the same
Better done in your house than MINE.... That air grease ruins the interior. DO THIS OUTSIDE!
I don't like my bacon cooked to a burnt crisp like that.
Cook the bacon for as long as YOU like Greg R.
Don't be insulting. That's not burnt. Burnt implies combustion...that hasn't happened here.
What you might consider is one simple truth: the more fat you rend out of your bacon, the less you force through your gall bladder and liver and onto your b@ttocks and gut.
So what was the point of making this video? LOL
The point, John-in-Jersey, is ...cook your bacon as you wish 🙂🙂
one pan had water and the other didn't, watch the video again
Soooo....it makes no difference what you do. No benefit either way.
Seems so. Doesn’t hurt to add water but I found no difference.
