This fade is bad.. There's dark spots everywhere and the whole fade is uneven with weight lines. The barber should use guidelines to make it even. Use the corners of the blade to erase dark spots and to get into indents. You should be able to blend all head shapes.
You are complete right but how will the shape get affected by removing those dark spots using corners? While it might look great from one angle from another it will look like is missing hair. Some times you gotta think what is best for the client. The Shape or the Shade. Unfortunately some times you can’t do both

It’s the head of the client. Not sure if you notice the spaces on the head, the indentations as well. I wanted to post this video so people could see that sometimes preserving the shape is more important than giving a “perfect” shade
You’re a great barber!!! Great hair stylist!! But don’t you ever say “it’s the shape of the head” when someone says the fade sucks” lol. It doesn’t matter what shape your head is, lmao. If a customer was unhappy with a fade you gave them, would you tell them their fade is off because of their head shape?

I completely understand where you are coming from because that’s how I used to think before, now I understand that some times creating a shape and silhouette could be more important than the barber’s ego of doing a blurry fade. My mentally has changed since I was introduced to the hairdressing world and it definitely has effected the way I see a haircut over all
Could this haircut be better, probably and I want to re do it again using a different technique to see how it goes. I’ll film it so we can all see if I can do a better job o not

Not your best work. As a barber I'm sure you know that and the fact you still posted it says a lot. Props for that. On curly hair I dont recomend a shelf or weight at the top of the sides like I would on a side part with straight hair. High fade is better maybe a 2 to the ridge. Thats just me though.
