I did not even plan to film this store but that changed when I saw the wall full of employee photos and farewell cards written by hundreds of people. Mad me really sad.

Excellent video Wallie. I never really went into Toys R Us much when I was growing up (got a lot of Christmas toys from there as I found out later) but I feel your loss. That wall of farewell cards is very touching and it's sad to say in a couple months it'll be gone for good. Thanks for filming it.
That memory wall is incredible!! Even I teared up a bit. The amount of liquidator junk is awful too. I saw a whole wall of travel neck pillows yesterday at TRU.

Such a magical place full of memories for so many people. It’s so hard to watch a place you love just slowly drift away. It’s going to be missed by many.
This was the best farewell video I have seen. I was never really a toys r us kid. I think I went there a few times, I don't really remember. I kick myself for not taking my son there just once to experience a toy store. I don't think we really have any toys stores around here anymore.

anyone who has a child will remember the happy memories of walking round these stores with there excited kid with them, eyes wide and eager to find the toy of there dreams . our local toys r us in the uk closed around a month ago . I remember going there on sundays with my daughter when we first moved to the area , she was 10 years old . she went in last month with her fiancé to buy a last few items . shes 20 now . those 10 years flew by . such a shame these place are shutting , so many happy memories ...so many lost jobs . cheers for sharing even if its heartbreaking .

This was amazing the music an everything took me back to when I was little every Friday I would go with my grandpa as he called it to play at Toys R Us an I would always get to pick out one Hotwheels and an ice cream because they had an ice cream freezer by the registers!!!!
Thank you for this video! It means a lot to see this store one last time. I recently moved to Georgia but I grew up in the area where the Erie Toys R Us is located. This is a store that will never be forgotten!

Sh5Ha6ker I'm from England and were losing are Toys R Us stores as well I tried getting a job with my local Toys R us store back in 2015 for the Christmas season but unfortunately I didn't get the job. These Toys R us stores and Geoffrey will be missed. If Geoffrey was a real Giraffe how old would he be now since Toys R us started because I don't know how old the company is.
Conrad Bennett The first Toys R Us store opened in June, 1957 in Washington, DC as Children's Bargain Town I'm pretty sure. Geoffrey would be 61 years old!
Geoffrey doesn't go back to 1957, that's when the re-brand of Children's Bargain Town took place; Geoffrey was originally Dr G. Raffe, debuting in 1965, so that'd mange him 53 this year.

Sears holdings is closing 72 more stores. Many in your area. Regarding Toy's R Us, the feels are still being felt.
KD2NOA Edward Martz I'm losing 2 Sears and a Kmart in my local area. Sears at South Hills Village Mall which was profitable. Sears at The Mall At Robinson... which was also profitable. And we're losing Kmart in Latrobe which is about an hour east of me.

Always shopped at Toys R Us while I was a kid and growing into an adult. I normally don't get emotional about things but this really touched me we lost our Toys R Us here in Alabama as I hated to see them close thank you for the video.

Now that I watched twice and went through half a box of Kleenex and two beers...what a powerful pognant video. This is going to be one of your legendary videos because you captured the heart and the sadness at this store, all Toys R Us stores closing.
The wall of cards and photos left me bawling. I think this store closing affects many many people perhaps more than others. Toys R Us is part of growing up and staying a Toys R Us kid. That wall of memories shows people loved the store and are asking why this has to happen (well the leverage buyout king KKR whose name escapes me really killed Geoffrey's store.)
The balloons make me think of the lone sad abandoned balloon at the other Toys R Us you filmed. Glad you could save them for memories.

This was one of my two childhood Toys R Us stores, the other being the now closed Pennsdale, PA location. I've been so busy with covering so many store closings for my Flickr photostream (Random Retail), I hadn't found time to make it to this particular store. On the off chance I don't make it before it closes, thank you for capturing this store and of course the memory wall. If I do I make it, I'll be looking for your note.

This is my local toys r us, it's about 25 minutes away from my house so going there was very rare, which made it even more special for me. It closed this past Wednesday, I really wish I would have been able to make it down there one last time.

I went there 3 days before they closed which was my final time going!! It was one of my favorite places to go!! There was a Philadelphia Phillies baseball in there I wanted to get, But unfortunately I didn't have enough money to get it😢!! I was very emotional when I left that day!! The fact that I could not get that baseball I really wanted, And the fact that was the last time I stepped foot into and out of that store broke my heart!! That's a childhood memory!!😭😭😭

Omg I thought I wasn't going to cry but I did, that wall gets me every time I see it the first time I saw it I cried it drove a knife in my chest and it hurt, we went there on the 5th because I was looking for 4 things for my kids birthdays (only found two of them) with my daughter and it was so sad to be there knowing it was going to our very last time there we spent $60 there on her birthday and she wanted to get one last backpack from toys r us as it was where her and her brother always got their backpack and lunch boxes at 😭😭😭😭😭😭

They took down the wall! I don't know exactly when but when I was there Sunday, June 24th, it was gone. :-( I was so sad and wanted to look at it one last time to see if my note was still up there.

Wow, how did you get so lucky?! I went to the TRU store in York, PA last week and wanted to buy some fixture inserts with Geoffrey on them. The store associates told me they couldn't sell anything with their trademark on it. When asked what would happen to them, they said all items like that would get sent back to their corporate offices to be either thrown away or burned! What the heck?!

WallieB, I wish I could go back in time to 2005 and stop that leveraged buyout of Toys R Us. I really do. I would love to find a DeLorean, make a flux capacitor and charge it up with 1.21 gigawatts of power to stop all this from happening. Unfortunately, that's not happening anytime soon. However, if there's one thing I've learned from 'Phineas and Ferb', it's that nothing is ever impossible. I do hope that someday, Toys R Us makes a comeback, much like Circuit City and KB Toys.

Hey, I don't know if you remember. But, I was the worker at kmart who sent you the shirt after we went out of business. Believe it or not, I got a seasonal job at this toys r us and I was 1 of 4 workers (out of 100) that they kept. This was obviously way before we knew we were closing. So now I have got to work for two companies that have gone out of business.
I don't believe I was there the day you were filming though, I don't see my car where employees would park.

LittleBoi4Trump Yeah.... and Kmart in Latrobe too. That store is only about an hour east of me. I dont think there will be anymore Sears left here when those 2 close. I think that's it for Sears in Pittsburgh.

WallieB26 well the old sears in the Beaver Valley mall just became a Rural King in March. However in the next 10 to 20 years all brick and mortar stores will be a thing of the past and all gone.
