    Quick note, I'm loving the Velocity one stick now that I cut a third of the tension spring off it feels soooo much better, I'm not fighting the stick anymore and landings have improved immensely. For anyone not happy with the tight tension it's really east to fix, there is a video on it, the harder part is trying to cut the hardened spring. Cheers everyone!

    I have seen with great interest both your first reviews and this last one. I bought the Flightstick and have been using it for a couple of weeks and I fully agree with all the criticisms for the B16 and B16 buttons. I don't agree to sterilize them, they are always two buttons among the easiest to handle and losing them is a real pity, so I set B17 for flap increase and B16 for flap decrease. I then reset the trackpad sensitivity like you, but I thought I'd use its physical click (B19) to activate/deactivate the autopilot: in this position it's really much more useful than in the default B16 position!
    As for the trim wheel, I'm going crazy in the SX8 axis sensitivity configurations (I use the Xbos series S version) because I can't control the trim well which, perhaps due to the choices of Miscrosoft and Asobo, varies by the value of a 1% for every three clicks of the wheel. I haven't managed to get the trim right yet and this is frustrating as the main reason I chose this controller was to have the VFR trim at my fingertips!
    As for H2, I have a problem that I don't know if it's due to my hardware (I've checked hundreds of times if I had made an involuntary configuration error): the analog POV works well in the right-left direction but in the up-down direction it does not react unless the stick is brought all the way to the end and pressed hard for a few seconds! This always happens to me for the "down" direction and sometimes for the "up" direction. I would not like there to be some defect in the magnetic sensor behind, I will contact Turtle Beach for this.
    Finally I wanted to point out something that is poorly documented but which I found very useful: the trim wheel can also be pressed and clicked and this corresponds to button B15: I found it very very useful to use this unexpected additional button within reach of the thumb to the internal/external view change function!
    If I could give Turtle Beach one last piece of advice for firmware updates, it would be to make the rotary cursor at the base of the stick (the large ring at the base) USABLE to implement an absolutely essential function of turning the instrument knobs!
    Thanks for your attention and best regards

    Thanks for the video. I had the same issue with the two buttons on either side of the trim wheel being too sensitive. The solution for me was simple. I raised the palm rest to the highest position. I am now far less prone to touch these as my hand and fingers are in a different position. Hope your on the mend 👍

    Thanks for the follow up review. I hit the same 2 issues you did, the buttons by the trim wheel and the tiny mouse pad. I originally had the 2 buttons by the trim wheel to flaps up and down. While trimming I'd inc or Dec the flaps. I reassigned them to throttle inc and Dec (handing for landing). I basically disabled the mouse via the flight stick config menu.
    Cheers,

    A great review for the velocity one, I decided to get this stick for Elite Dangerous (new player). I was able to map your config from the video alone which was a huge help although the right detent I have set to FSD jump rather than cargo open/closed. It is surprising how much can be done from the stick which little need for the keyboard.

    Great Vid Sir, got mine today. Just so you know I have the Thrustmaster T-Flight Rudders and they do work as stand alone on PC. When I bought my pedals it came with a dongle that converts the proprietary connector to USB. MSFS 2020 detected it straight away on PC and Series X/S while also using the Velocity One Flight Stick. I have now sold my T-Flight Hotas One X and kept the pedals. 😎👍

    I have this stick as well as the Velocity One Flight Yoke. One thing I wish was included (or at least made available) was a desk-clamping solution. I like using the stick with my Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, but I have to constantly press down on the stick to keep it from moving across my desk. The Flight Yoke has a really great mechanism for clamping it down to my desk. This stick needs something similar.

  • @davidjackson9489
    @davidjackson9489 Před rokem +3

    I've had mine a while. I'm one who isn't so keen on the stiffness - combined with the square base it is too easy to tip the whole unit inadvertently until you get used to it.
    I had big problems getting the phone app to communicate with the stick despite being both connected and paired. Turned out that the app data had become corrupted - clearing the app data cured the problem (Android). Turtle Beach support tried patiently to help solve the problem and eventually swapped the unit - very quick turnround. Only then did it become clear it was a phone issue, not the stick.
    I also find inadvertent interaction with the buttons beside the trim wheel rather too easy and at times very confusing. Must get round to remapping them!.
    Thanks for the mentions of alternate button mapping including those around the Xbox button. I have 15 and 32 button Streamdecks which have the great benefit of customisable captions. Be great to to have custom captions on the flight stick to help remember which button does what.
    Overall, I'm very pleased with it.

    I wish for v2 to have some kind of force feedback (FFB) I believe it is on the MSFS 2020 timeline to implement FFB, would be amazing if Turtle Beach timed a release of a FFB joystick with that update. In some ways the movement reminds me of the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick and there was a non-FFB version of that as well.
    The throttle quadrant would be very welcome, can never have too many controls with sims.

    Another great video. As a recent subscriber, I am learning quite a bit about MSFS and third party peripherals. Thank you.
    Regarding the issue with the B16 and B17 buttons, may I suggest that instead of completely deleting their functionality you might re-assign them only to be used with the addition of a function button. You have allocated B7 as your function button for certain tasks. I have seen another video--sorry I can't remember which one--where the trigger is used as a function button for airborne only tasks such as autopilot functions. Perhaps trigger + B16 for toggling AP Master and trigger + B17 for toggling auto throttle.

    I bought the stick after your video about it. I do agree with most of what you say. The stick stiffness is great for me too. The cursor button is annoying so I turned the sensivity to zero as you did. Buttons B16 and B17 is as you say too easy to acitvate. About the trim wheel, I would like it to be bigger so you can turn it up and down without hitting the base, or the buttons. Another thing is the lights. I would like a quick button to turn it off. I have my stick connected all the time and I don´t want the light to be on when I ´m not using it. So mostly I just turn the light off in the menu, but it take some time every time. Otherwise I really like the stick. Thanks to you.

    After using it for less than an hour I disabled those two buttons. I absolutely love the H2 button to look around. My logitech yoke has nothing like that so I have to use the mouse. Looking around makes a huge difference in MSFS. What I Hate about the joystick is the trim wheel. If I start flying and the trim is at something like 10%, when I go to adjust the trim wheel with just one click in any direction the trim changes drastically. It will go from 10% to -8% and the plane freaks out. It appears to work fine when you test it in Control Options, but not flying. After you adjust it, it starts working normally, but the first adjustment changes the trim to a random setting.

    • @Huddison

    Good run-through, mirrors some of my thoughts on this close to brilliant stick. Love the feel of it, comfortable to use. Took a LOT of tinkering with MSFS bindings to get a setup I'm happy with (not helped by it not always being obvious what the button names are in MSFS). Touchpad not much use on XBox, so did same as you. I've kept both buttons either side of the trim wheel - the default binding to autopilot is painful but now I have left button switching cockpit/external view, and right autopilot on/off but only if also holding trigger. Works for me. I like H2 as the free look too. Ended up settling on a combo of the V1FS plus wireless mouse on XBox SX, seems to be the best of both worlds, at least while the touchpad works so poorly on Xbox. The only thing I wish TB would sort out is how slowly the trim wheel actually moves the aircraft trim. I guess a trim sensitivity or speed option in the stick settings panel via firmware update could help that.

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  Před rokem +2

      These comments are gathering pace now: thanks for your wonderful addition to the video.
      Both the V1 Yoke and FS have somewhat frustrating trim-wheel interactivity.; they work fine once you have them synced - still hoping for firmware that fixes these issues.

    I just ordered one of these, mostly for the inclusion of two throttles with the detents and especially for the potential convenience of having mouse control right on the stick!
    I'm really hoping the use of that trackpad for interacting with the many controls in MSFS while in VR will be a game changing function for me. We'll see.
    Based on all the reviews I've watched, my suggestion for a version 2 of this stick would be for the B16 and B17 buttons to be smaller and for the trackpad to be made larger with improved accuracy.

    • @Huddison

      @@Huddison I know. Nearly every review does point out that it isn't the best.
      Unfortunately, no other flight stick appears to even include anything like it, so this is the one I went with. Like I said, I'd like to see a stick with a larger and more reliable trackpad, because it really would be quite a significant feature for VR.
      In VR, your head directs where the mouse is to some extent, so we just need the track pad to allow for pointing and clicking.

      Yes with the latest firmware update & in compatibility mode, apparently ED works well with the V1 FS on Xbox (I don't actually own ED on my Xbox Series S, as I already own it twice on PC and PS4).
      Check this on the TB Discord - I'm sure somebody will confirm.

    Hi Huddison agree with your review , have had it for 2 weeks. The throttle works well with the OSPREY VELOCOPTER which requires gentle input. Appreciate the trouble you take in making your videos. One other item not involved in any way with the joystick, since update 11 where the3 D THERMALS arrived i did try the helicopter wit and without the thermals then suddenly CESSNA 172 with G1000 which i often use , now appears with a halo of these spagheti like damn thermal streamers even when they are TURNED OFF OR ON which ruins the whole thing for me. Would you or any of your viewers have had this happen or is there any solution. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

    My VelocityOne Flightstick lasted seriously 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, buttons and control stick started going out one after the other. Right out of the box I felt like there was an issue but it wasn’t prevalent and I wouldn’t know, this being my first flight stick. Very unfortunate considering this video and these comments made it seem like an excellent build when it came to quality and performance.

I find it incredibly annoying and distracting and I'm not quite sure how to cure it. The squeak is worse on the roll than the pitch axis. I have tried a tiny amount of silicone lubricant without success and the same with a small amount of WD40 without success. • @Thunderbird1337
    @Thunderbird1337 Před 3 měsíci

    This stick has 2 big problems. One is the stiffness, which can be fixed (as others said). The other one is the very small movement angle of the stick. And that can't be fixed. Compared to my old Thrustmaster stick, the Velocity One has almost half the movement. This just feels bad if you are used to a good flight stick with a proper movement angle. It simply can't have the same precision if you need only half the stick movement for the same movement in the sim. I tried the Velocity One stick and returned it immediately. It has very nice features, but unfortunately that's all worthless if the stick fails completely in the most important points: Comfort/ feeling and precision. In my opinion a complete misconstruction.
