    I thought it was interesting how at the end of the episode, the massacre of over 300,000 people didnt really change anything or anyone at all. Karen became a hate figure, like all those other people before her because of the case. All those people screaming at her seemed to completely forget that hate figures are what lead to the massacre in the first place

      I wonder how accurate this is too reality. After big events like ww1 and ww2 I believe people held a different stance against war.
      But yet again America didn't learn anything from 9/11 or any school shooting. Maybe the events weren't big enough to have an impact.

      I don’t think she was a hate figure but simply the press just being the press. The signs I saw didn’t seem to demonstrate any hate to Karen directly

      Humans don't fundamentally change. There have been literally millions of terrible events like that, genocides, mass murders, riots, wars, you name, billions of dead motherfuckers because of our hatred. But we never learn. Because we never change. It's in our nature to assume instead of investigate.

      @HealthInspectorz Před 4 lety +6

      It's a cycle of hate that occurs in reality as well. Look at war-torn countries and wonder why civil wars take so long? It's because "freedom fighters" are on the fight for power to exercise their belief of justice. It's similar in a rather convenient world we live in: humans have the capacity to spread hate on someone and the product of these actions are retaliation.

      A lot of episodes seems like predictions, but Charlie and other others writers are probably just more aware of current developments than other people. 'Nosedive' was considered a prediction by some, but it was public record some time before. Plus other predictions are more like extrapolations of current trends. It's like saying 'Lawnmower Man' is a prediction of VR when the idea of strapping a TV screen to your face probably was an idea soon after TV became popular.

      I completely agree. Minus the bee drones, this is an eerie representation of "Twitter justice", where presumption of guilt replaces presumption of innocence, and people prefer black-and-white, hero-and-villain narratives to gray reality. The Waldo Moment is also very scary in its own way.

Some of the elements seemed mismatched, Karin is pretty useless for the entire case and she's honestly not an interesting or likeable character to follow. Also, it honestly didn't feel like a good unfolding mystery, progress came in weird spurts and half the time it wasn't because of any good detective work, it was just sort of handed to them conveniently. I guess I'm glad you found it tense because I couldn't find the tension.

    You missed the chance to point out the irony of both the bees and social media were created with good intentions but a small group of people chose to use it as a weapon which affected a larger group. My problem with the episode is the way the media was shown to handle it, there is no way they could tell the truth and referring to them as victims. They are victims of their own choices, like you said even after knowing the results of posting that the numbers of people doing it skyrocketed and were any of those people even considered being held responsible, not in the slightest. After their deaths people only wanted a scapegoat, one person they could lay all the blame on instead of placing it on the people who posted the deathto post knowing it would kill someone. I would love to see a sequel to this to find out what if any change in society happened because of this.

The common response is “well I would never be like that,” which only leads to a repeat of what happened. You would need society to become completely honest about itself. But being honest means acknowledging that everyone misses the mark, and no one wants to be caught as the worst person. It’s crazy how easy for me to understand this episode, even before i watched this video. Meaning that this episode metaphorically explain about our current situation as internet/social media users.
    It’s just crazy.
    1. How tweeting #deathto in real life could/oftentimes caused the said person to commit suicide after receiving soo many death wishes (but this episode potrait it differently)
    2. How people who tweeted #deathto oftentimes don’t even realize how much impacts they had to someone’s life, and considered their tweets as “jokes” or “they don’t even really mean it” but it actually does contribute to someone’s death.
    3. How people who tweeted #deathto are actually just killing themselves from the inside with all of the hatred and oftentimes those who write hate comments are the miserable with their lives and currently hating themselves, but choose to direct their self hatred to other people on the internet.
    4. It is impossible to stop hatred. It’s everywhere, everyone has it, everybody hates certain things, and no matter how hard anyone try to stop hatred, it’ll always be there. Even about the smallest and most unimportant things.
    5. Justice is not the same for everyone. These 300k people tweeted #deathto to bring justice for people who got hurt by these infamous people’s action. Thinking that they brought justice to those people. Garret killed those 300k people to bring justice for people who got death wishes, And at the end, those people protesting to bring justice for 300k dead people, by also HATING on the police force.
    It’s a never ending circle. And it’s crazy that us human have so much hatred inside us.

      Steve Le - these things happen, I went through the first two days more than I care to admit.
      The thing that finally helped me was making myself accountable in the sense of the support I was receiving, every time I went to call my dealer I would think if I cave in now will this friend still be here to support me, when will I get this many consecutive days off work again, will my support systems patience be worn to thin to get me to the other side. I found it very hard to go through it myself knowing that I couldn't be weak and break down because I would cave alone and I wouldn't be able to let my mind slip and say I can't for even a second. I wasn't willing to risk running out of money and not having s friend to scream into the shoulder of and call me a pussy and tell me to straighten up.
      You are stronger than you know and the fear of withdrawals are so much worse than the minute to minute suffering of withdrawals, would you rather suffer it at your next opportunity or spend years running from it and then find out you had the strength all along?
      You can do it. I was using £250 a day in the end. Granted the shit in the U.K. Is low purity but I started on the cotton rinse from someone else which is about £1, a little more or a little less. When I finally made myself go through it, I didn't even vomit, where previously I would vomit bile on waking and shake until my first hit of the day, determination and understanding the fear does all kinds of things for your physical experience, the mental experience will always be a grind, be kind to yourself, let the guilt convince you to quit and then work hard on being proud of yourself.
      I don't know why I'm inflicting my opinion on you, I guess I remember how much fear the Internet put in me prior to the big one. At least you know you can.make it through the worst. If you need an extra man in your corner next time, I will listen.

    14:09 it also says “Skillane appeal thrown out of court”, i.e. referring to Victoria Skillane from the White Bear episode and how a group of people must have felt sorry for her and tried to get the continued suffering to end, but ultimately failed

    It’s ironic that “no filter” gets “real” behind a screen. I’ve used “say it to my face” before to cyberbullies, even folks I know off the screen. 90% of the time, they cannot say it to my face. And if they do, we can actually have more of a conversation or proper exchange.
    This episode was longer and I even liked that about it. I was hooked to each minute of it. And I love your vids. After watching the episodes, I come here. Your depth of analysis and even sharing about the creator’s inspiration shows how much work you put into each vid. And I appreciate that.
    The comments I receive sharing my opinions and thoughts on social media, even hate comments, keep me from even doing things like making a channel myself. And that’s sad. Imagine how many people with talent are held back like that? It’s easy to say “not to care about what others think” when it is so easy to misconstrue value to the number of likes.

    I know someone probably pointed this out already but I didn’t realize how much the color blue was in this episode until I gave it another watch. The lights from the police cars in the beginning, Blue’s apartment condo, the children’s school uniform, the computer tabs as well. It’s obvious to me now but I guess that was black mirror’s subtle way of telling you that the character Blue is essentially the main focus of this episode as well as the fact that she caught the hacker at the end.

    You're so cute and your analysis are great to watch! I thought the episodes were a bit straightforward in a good way, heavy handed punishment being worse than the crime itself, but I still rly enjoyed your deep dives bc they are like a thorough recap and food for thought which is always nice n.n I was a black mirror fan right away mostly because of how every episode made you think it out. Loved that!

    I think that's the beauty of the ending though. There's multiple theories on how it ends.
    Blue caught him and they get justice.
    Blue was working with him the whole time.
    Or the Bee guy knew he was being followed by Blue and was once again, one step ahead.

    • @aronb6746
      @aronb6746 Před 4 lety +6

      I don't think Blue working with him the whole time is a legit theory, there was no evidence at all to back that up. Speculation really gets out of hand sometimes.

    • @supersani21

    • @jimmiemunyi
      @jimmiemunyi Před 2 lety

      @@supersani21 What if both Blue and Karen were working with him. And Karen's job was to cover up the case. I mean the bee guy was watching her trial and immediately left after it ended and didn't wait to see the other guy's trial

    • @Kai97119
      @Kai97119 Před rokem +4

I was turned off because it seemed like they took an hour to say what could have been said in 30 mins. I restarted the series from day one, felt I needed a guide & you popped up. I know being a CZcamsr takes a lot of time & effort and I appreciate it. Please don't let negative comments from cowards haunt you.
