It's not unbalanced, It's just that every other character is playing SF III, while Chun-li and Yun are playing a Beat n' up and Remy, Twelve, Sean are playing Dark Souls
Edit: Q is playing Dark Souls while using a heavy armor
If characters aren't interacting the way the game says they should(for good and bad) that means they're broken.

Virtua fighter is too complex and it feels not rewarding, 3rd strike is complex but fun.

Tbf a a lot of oldheads in the FGC probably play 2D fighters way more.
So going from a 2D game to a 3D game can often be a daunting or even a scary experience to someone who's already acostumed to a certain type of fighting game.
One of the main reasons why I don't really play Tekken despite being a good game.
As a Tekken fan I think this is more Tekken players saying that.

I started dabbling in 3rd Strike a week ago and its insane how many videos I get recommended that are a day or 2 or a few hours old with high views. This feels like I picked up the latest SF entry not a decades old game.
Third Strike was a product of it's time and those of us who remember the 90's before CZcams and social media associate it with much better times than we experience today. Feels like everything was better back then except technology which is debatable. People were legitimately happier back then and more human.
It still has a large audience honestly. There are people playing 3S all these decades later.

I do think 3rd strike always has the fun out of being like "I coulda parried that". Even with the strongest characters like Chun the counterplay is very obvious and simple in theory if not to do practically. I can't say that for a lot of old games, and half the cast not having a tool like that makes them feel more unplayable, rather than just disadvantaged.
I think it's an issue with how the balance on old games can't be fixed while in new games there's an expectation for there to be balance. People would definately like an game more if it had better balance, but since they already have a meta set in stone, as well as the fact that it won't be updated more makes people go "Oh, silly 3rd Strike!" while complaining about sf6's balance actaully gets people somewhere which makes people ciritcize it more.

As for OE, Iron Galaxy did a good job with 3rd Strike Online edition, on every single aspect, except for the ones I mentioned, and I (& many others) didn’t appreciate the new audio additions, which were meant to sound like more contemporary rap at the time of the port, but were corny, and haven’t aged anywhere near as well as say, the NG arranged album, 2i’s spectacular soundtrack, OR the PS2 Arranged 3rd Strike soundtrack, which had greatly improved audio over the original arcade 3rd Strike’s low quality audio (which is what 30th featured, exclusively)

Love how the video goes along titling each section as a specific mechanic or specific things that certain characters can do...all things considered to be issues with the game. Then it gets to the Chun-Li section and it's just labeled "Chun-Li." The Queen is, herself, an issue with the game.
Love at the end of her bit "Also her stage is annoying because of this table." Just everything about her is a pain in the butt to deal with. xD
At this point, I'm convinced every fighting game is broken.

I generally refer to just defends as a “inverse parry with way stricter timing” I say inverse in terms of the input being away from the attack/projectile like you are guarding, rather than towards an attack/projectile
I heard instead of 3S online edition they were going to make an HD remix for 3S and balance chun/yun, but the community wanted OG unchanged 3S so we got that instead, and the rest is history.

SF3 has Melee syndrome where the entire roster is horribly balanced but among the viable characters the balance is amazing so it's still an enjoyable game for competition

The more I learn about third strike, the more it feels like it's held together by sheer willpower.
I had no idea this game even had port priority of all oversights, but it does! And I have no idea what to do with this cursed knowledge LMAO
This is an interesting lesson that latest rev isn't always perfectly balanced. I do wonder what caused such a shift in balance as I get the impression that 2nd impact was better in balance.
But 3S had the fortune of having a magical moment. Also I think some meta things have evolved in the fightcade ecosystem

Back then, we had no idea about the roster balance of SF3 Third Strike, until now thanks to its players passionately figuring out every gameplay interaction from past all the way to today
The version of Third Strike in the PS4 Anniversary Edition is good. But it does not have Shin Akuma as a selectable hidden character.

To parry out of aegis set up is down parry, back parry into forward parry if I remember correctly.

You should really watch a melee video on port priority. there are many good ones.
The difference in port priority does change the Priority of moves on P1, and P2 gets 1 frame more of character lag when throwing P1- but can be any lower port. And rng changes for some moves as well. and your placement on stages also depend from p1 to p4, so if you don't know where to put your port especially in doubles, you can get a combo from the start of the game. There is many more things about port priority. but these are big things about why port priority does matter.
Melee port priority hasn’t mattered for doubles in a long time tbh. Pretty much all UCF cards make it so you get neutral start regardless for doubles
So, between PS4/5 & Switch, which console platform is the one to get? (And for what reasons? more players, online performance etc.)
