When my mind is especially disturbed I find it helpful to chant along with Srila Prabhupada syllable by syllable. Jaya jaya Prabhupada!!!! Hare Krishna
a blessing, its very difficult to find pure vocal tones mantras, all them make with some nature/ ambience sound, that it seems make you to come peaceful, but for me it take me out the raw feeling of observing the all , trying to input you a feeling, besides the pure mantra makes you feel deep internaly and not confused or "in peace" with some comtemplating sounds of birds, water or whatever. Its just the pure hare krishna maha mantra between the sacred vocal tones of prabhupada
Keep in mind, Prabhupada's favourite place to chant was outside, in nature, walking amongst the birds, trees, and water. Don't get me wrong, I listen to this also for the lack of background, but I won't look down on those that have it. No hard and fast rules. Even a dog can take part.
Chanting Hari Krishna has always been my favorite form of meditation. There's no real rules to follow. Just chant and do what works for you. I like this version of Prabhupada chanting because he's being playful in this recording by varying the rhythms. In some other recordings, he slows down and concentrates on the pronunciation. I try not to get locked into one way of chanting. I find it beneficial to have several different ways to chant because some days, you're not going to be able to do it your favorite way and have to rely on what way is convenient to your circumstances.

Hare krishna devotee...All glories to srila prabhupada... i cant stop tears whenever i listen to him..how blessed are those vaishnavas who could sit and chant with him...Infact, we are also the blessed ones who have his teachings, his voice everything. I feel for the later part of kaliyuga, when people will have no one to guide them. Btw, is it only me who feels that my mind doesnt wonder here and there while chanting with prabhupada..whereas independently when i chant my mind runs much ahead.

This is the same Srila Prabhupada chanting when I used to take rest at Bhaktivedanta Manor when I was just in my 20's now I'm 65 and chanting 40 rnds,we have time we can always chant more ,if we have time chant Hare Krsna. and be happy.
So nice! 40 rounds daily is alot! I can't function if I don't finish my day's quota... And on special days try to chant extra. I recently decided to do 25 per day... You're right that as we get older chanting is the thing we can actually continue, whereas dancing or feasting for example are not so easy to do as when we were in young bodies. 🙄

It's been a grueling session to chant even 8 rounds. But after all a part of sadhana is to embrace the pain and forcefully tame the monkey mind if need be. Awwmy heart goes out to you and hope you find peace. I will share what I do as I look forward to this time of the day so much as it is my favourite time and as far from a chore as imaginable. When the first birds sing and awaken me, I start chanting. When the bird song is over and it is fully daylight is when I finish. I have not used the beads on a daily basis since I started doing this but will cherish them dearly until the dy I die, I reserve them for when all else fails, that is when I use them as instructed - it works too. How do I chant... let me count the ways... it’s funny we say no hard and fast rules then immediately make parameters... the sanskrit word japa means repeating a “certain number” and/or can mean a certain “time frame”... consistency is also a factor... so the birds technique is perfect, (i’m sure krsna likes it too...!) i chanted for years as a requirement, now i removed the requirement and chant cause i want to... so i make it as comfortable as possible... early morning before the birds is my fav... ☕️📿🇺🇸🎻📚🚜🐝🎪🌏🌈 ! How do I chant... With tea, honey, half n half, nutmeg, a fire crackling in winter, windows open... sometimes w Prabhupada, sometimes loud/soft, sometimes with 528hz, sometimes w inscence, sometimes w fav picture, sometimes with dying relative, but my goal is to somehow understand the personality within sometimes dry, sometimes it melts my heart, but no matter i forgive my rules that i impose against the mantra and try to free my heart mind instead... just hear ... as Prabhupada puts it... “there’s no need for understanding the language of the mantra, even a child can do it..”
This when I listen and chant along makes me feel like I've 'came home' It has to be one of, if not THE most favourite of Srila Prabhupadas I have found to date. Many thanks for uploading this x

How do I chant...
With tea, honey, half n half, nutmeg,
a fire crackling in winter,
windows open...
sometimes w Prabhupada,
sometimes loud/soft,
sometimes with 528hz,
sometimes w inscence,
sometimes w fav picture,
sometimes with dying relative,
but my goal is to somehow understand the personality within
sometimes dry, sometimes it melts my heart,
but no matter i forgive my rules that i impose against the mantra and try to free my heart mind instead...
just hear ...
as Prabhupada puts it... “there’s no need for understanding the language of the mantra, even a child can do it..”
