- Baking is a labor of love for 26-year-old Victoria Hernandez. She offers up cookies, cakes and all kinds of sweet treats. She was preparing to ready an order when she received a hateful message from a prospective customer. It read in part, “I was under the impression I was supporting a fellow American small business. I see by your pictures that you are Mexican.” Inside Edition Digital’s Stephanie Officer has the details on how Hernandez reacted and how the internet rushed to her defense.
What does the customer think an American looks like? The beauty of America is that anyone can be an American no matter your religion, ethnicity or race.
Right
Somehow i bet this woman was not NATIVE American

Many people don't have that view. They label white as "real" Americans and nonwhite as foreigners
Has this ignorant person ever eaten at a restaurant or does she demand to see if the people preparing her food look like "fellow Americans" first? What an exhausting way to live. Glad the baker ended up getting more business from good people.
Yup. She’s definitely the type that’ll eat at a full white staffed restaurant. I better not see her at any Mcdonalds drive thru. Lots of her favourite races of people work there.

This never happened.
It is shocking to me people can still feel this way! My daughter adopted from China and here since a baby has had multiple racist events, some that were scary. It's so sad people choose to hate over something like this.
This is sad, but not shocking. This type of behavior has existed in the US for a very long time. Most tend to ignore the behavior until it impacts them.

This was a blessing in disguise for her! Little did she know that the incident would result in more orders from all the good people that found out about her story. I hope she continues to have a successful business, because no one deserves to face discrimination like that
and now anyone can know her location and where her brown family lives... as a Mexican American this is scary and dangerous for her family

I'm so glad there's a silver lining to this story. She seems like a talented young baker.
I like how they said “nothing personal” but then they continue to explain how they wish not to support her because of her ethnicity….like how does that even make sense??
It's their way of covering their racism or prejudice
It isn't personal... It has nothing to do with the young lady Victoria Hernandez... It has everything to do with the bleep bleep bleep who canceled her order...
@@aspireahead8388 I'm pretty sure her ethnicity is something personal to her if shes proud of being Mexican
They were trying to justify their actions.
It's nothing personal, as in, it has nothing to do with her. It's all just on the customer being a racist biggot.
‘Nothing personal’ yet goes on to cancel an order because of something 100% personal
Absolutely. Not being accepted as a citizen because of the color of your skin is 100% personal. That boggles me. But if an immigrant considers this land their home, then they're one of us too.

As a light skin Mexican, I have felt privileged to not have experienced discrimination for my ethnicity or skin color compared to my friends and relatives with dark brown skin, who have. And yet, when I hear a story like this; to see a woman who shares the same features, heritage, and profession as me, it’s a reminder that it doesn’t matter what you look like so long as people make an effort to be intolerant to your ethnicity.
P.S. Considering the lady is ordering out of Phoenix, AZ, I hope she’s not surprised by how many of us Mexicans inhabit the state. 😜🇲🇽
