It's awesome to watch Charlie Rose fall from his high horse I remember him going around criticizing other people and look who ended up having a fault of his own
What a difference, the leaders of then vs. the careerist politician-generals we have today. Humble, dedicated, honorable men like General Franks. Can you imagine someone like Gen. Franks touting the readiness of the Afghan army, only to see the Afghan army be nonexistent within 48 hours? Or how about describing the drone strike deaths of an innocent family, and then lie about it saying it was a righteous kill? "Don't worry General...we TRUST you."....god, what a wonderful thing for a soldier to say to his commander! Would you say that of the high command we have now, if you were in the service?
This was more intelligence, perspective, and historical information in 23 minutes than several month's worth of my Twitter feed. Is there a time machine available somewhere.
Man, Franks is insanely Humble! Before reading Jayhawk i wouldn't care, but after reading it i can see that he is incredibly humble for a man who achieved what he did and is so gifted . Swartzkopf on the other hand, while certainly deserving of great respect, is way more pompous...
On Swartzkopf: perhaps, but keep in mind that to wage war effectively you need military leaders who inspire confidence in their men, rally the public back home and be credible before the legislature
I didn't know George Washington was such great general during the whole of WW2. Guess I missed out on something. On a side note, I'd love to hear Tom Clancy's thoughts about what's currently happening in the world. Such interesting insights and entertaining to listen too.
Amazingly interesting people, but i gotta admit i’m not a fan of the interviewer. Interrupts and always have to say his take, instead of letting these brilliant men talk. Was actually frustrating to watch
I say this..if a man must become an ego he must do so by the merits that he has by himself achieved... and if one can remain humble tham he has achieve not greatness,,or perfection,,that is reserved to superheroes..but if he can apply what one has learnes and perfect upon than i belive that person is worthy in any profession he chooses or not...interpret this as you wish
people are saying a lot of classified info appeared in his books which means he was in close touch with rus and cia otherwise how can u explain this . this info didnt just came out of his head its understandable
Charlie Rose asks a question, lets the guest begin, interrupts with a comment of what he supposes the answer is. Absolutely painful watching this guy conduct an "interview".
18:40 ironic, that almost 21 years later in 2017, Rose himself is caught in a boys-girls situation and loses his show and is fired from CBS and PBS. So ironic. So. I. Ro. Nic.
Given what we know was happening in vietnam by American soldiers on a daily basis, relentless torture and murder of villagers who had nothing too do with the war, hand grenades thrown in to enclosed spaces full of families, mothers fathers, children. I wonder if any of this was in his mind when he came to answer that question, and why it so conveniently slipped his mind

For a X mail carrier he's pretty up-to-date on us intelligence. Keep up the good work Mr Tom Clancy. 👍
these interviews are so interesting to watch in 2017 after all these years
Right?!
Edmond Dantes do we have to tell him about Charlie?
I'd rather not!
what is this interviewers name? Charlie who?
I think we should be glad that Clancy didn't have to hear about what Charlie was doing...
Clancy is a legend without compare. His influence is immeasurable. Thank you sir.
Jeeze. We need so many more of these folks in all parts of govt.
The Establishment silences or eliminates guys like this. Get em out of the way by whatever means works, they don't fit the program.

Gen Fred Franks is a true hero
Fun to hear Lt General McMaster referenced as “captain, now Major McMaster” in this interview from 1997.

Scwarzkopf was Bushie's stooge. He was pumped up as a hero.

Hes dead
Unfortunately Tom Clancy passed away several years ago.
@@christianvalentin5344 yes I know. Meant to say "if he were alive today". Would be interesting to hear right

Fantastic
He got tired of insurance .
Everyone is BORN sick of insurance. Some just take longer to figure that out.

We need this intellect today.
It's out there. It's just not being paid enough attention.
Can't be a strong nation, without a strong military 💪 ...not in this Age
charlie rose is awful. let people talk and stop cutting in. he should have been fired long ago
Well said.
His guests are so inconsiderate to not shut up while he is interrupting.
@@stalkinghorse883 ????what??? you clearly messed up in translation..
@@Tedd0 He's being sarcastic

I wonder what the General's thoughts were on the day the fact the Gulf of Tonkin incident was fabricated became declassified.
Executive orders best Ryan novel
Clancy keeps those aviators on just in case.
Rose was completely unqualified to conduct this interview.

Comparing Norman Schwarzkopf to Fred Franks in terms of personalities, Schwarzkopf seems closer to Patton and Franks more like Omar Bradley.
General Franks led the coalition to victory while being hindered by schwarzkopf.
Schwarzkopf never left his bunker. Franks, as Leon Black would say, "Franks was all over that m*f*."
East Coast Yuppy
That's fucking creepy

If you studied history, you are of a mindset that you still wouldn't comprehend your error.
