Come on people... This nice lady just takes nothing for granted. She's giving all the information and techniques someone needs even of they've never knew what frosting is and how to do it! It's beginners how to.....
Thank you was thinking the same thing! Great video for a beginner like me.
But she doesn't even give a recipe for the frosting...
Yep...I never knew what a cake crumb coat was
Casey Goode The title says how to frost a cake, not frosting recipe.
@@cherryberry9468 exactly
In awe at the size of that chicken. What an absolute unit
It's almost like a turkey
rubbish comment, its kitchen and it was a industrial kitchen
LOL
Amira Djiar no
@@domesticdiva708 not really an industrial kitchen, more of a huge home kitchen. Chef’s kitchen I guess.
LIFE SAVER! I ALWAYS WONDERED WHY MY CAKE LOOKED CRAZY, I FOLLOWED THE STEPS AND MY CAKE LOOKS LOW KEY PROFESSIONAL.... I NEVER KNEW TO FLIP THE CAKE AND THE FROSTING TECHNIQUE 🥰
Very simple for a beginner. Thanks for sharing this
Flipping it upside down! Thats what I've been doing wrong...thank you!

Okay baby she changed the game with this hack. She explained it in depth so ucan get it. I learned so much from this one video. My cake going to look professional. 😂😂❤❤
Wow..I feel like I could be a professional cake froster;) Thank you! You have done a wonderful job explaining every step with NO irritating music:)
I'm making a cake for my 16th birthday in a couple days. It will be my first attempt at a 2 layer cake and I've never actually made a proper cake before either... This video is great and I'm sure my cake will turn out good with these great tips! Thank you!!
Happy Belated Birthday
Chris Chan thank you lol
it’s almost your birthday, happy early birthday!
helloitshuda 🥺 thank you!
@@sennahayat i didn’t follow the directions that well but it went pretty good!!
I am an experienced cook, but I've only made cake maybe once or twice before in all my 62 years. So I really appreciate this video so I can ensure I do NOT make any mistakes in frosting my cake today. I like to do things right and all these little tips were so helpful. Thank you!
How clear were her instructions! Loved it. 😊
Thank you so much, I work in one of the most biggest chain of restaurants in Illinois and people have been trying to teach me how to frost the cakes, but nobody has gotten so detailed as you did with this video, I appreciate it truelly👌🙏
I could listen to Bridget talk all day. She's an excellent teacher.
I love how this video is very informative, unlike other CZcams video. This really helped, thank you!❤️
I’m making my first layer cake next week when my father gets out of surgery. I’ve always seen and watched frosting on tv, but never tried it, and never understood how they got it so smooth!! THE SECRET IS OUT
I make a round spring-form cake any diameter you want. I have a few of them. I cool the cake, usually in the freezer. Then I take a long piece of floss, wrapped around the cake and pull it through. You can make as many or as few layers as you want. Works perfect for me every time. All layers are flat and a lots less work.
Thank you for the tip! I plan on baking my husband a cake for his birthday next week so hopefully all goes well!
I find that cake insulating strips help minimize cake dome syndrome. You can use actual insulating strips or just wet dish cloths.
London1869 this actually works, much easier than cutting the cake
London1869 for the dish cloths, do they have to be a specific kind of fabric? I’ve seen some people wet paper towels or wet news paper and then wrap it in foil and use them as strips.
Maggie C Wilton sells cake strips. You can get them on Amazon.
Lol video I watched before this was on cake strips. First thing I thought when I saw her cakes was she needs those!!
@@Maggie._.. use cake strips won't get a dome
Found out I could add crumbs to store bought cakes so they look homemade. Now I don't need to do all this.
Lulz
LMAO
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
gamer3928 lol, great idea

I just made a three tiered red velvet cake for my son’s birthday. I used an offset spatula to apply the cream cheese frosting and I got a really smooth and straight finish. My tip is to take time for this step and make sure your frosting is not too soft (pop it in the fridge for a while if it is). I cooled the frosted cake in the fridge before I added chocolate ganache for a drip cake. My son and my guests were impressed. I’m not a chef.
Well done & thanks for the tip😊
I WAS SO INTO THE VIDEO I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE HOW LONG IT WAS LOL I LOVE THIS I MUST GET ME SOME ICING SPATULAS

This is a great tutorial. I've always at the amateur problem of crums getting in to my frosting when I frost it, but she explains very nicely how to prevent that!
Great video!

Warm cake tastes eggy. I don't know anyone that likes warm cake.

Cold beer with the last slice of pizza on the counter from last night is a great start on recovering from a massive hangover.
Wow she makes it look so easy! Best instructional video I’ve seen.
i have no idea why i watched this but i learned that frosting a cake is much more intricate than just throwing it on with a butter knife lmao

Take 1 can of frosting, put it in a bowl and whip it with your mixer. It will double in size. But this is just in time for 2 cakes I made for Thanksgiving. I can never frost them correctly, this is so easy, Thank you! 🦃
Thanks so much! I’m making a layered cake for my kids birthday party! This helped so much!
This is the best instructional video. Thank you, America Test Kitchens!

My brother and I made our own sugar for a cake we were making for our dad's birthday. We didn't use powdered sugar, and we realized our mistake after we put it on. We made due but decided to freeze the cake in the freezer. (idk why we did it.) We both were afraid it wouldn't taste very good, but when we tasted it, we realized we had made a cake that tasted like chocolate chip cookies! we were both very pleasantly surprised, and my dad enjoyed his cake.
I like these longer videos much better, thank you!
Love the long videos. Learning a lot!
Very excellent video! Thank you! Doing my first cake! Helped so much!

This vodeo was really helpful.Thank you so much!
Ladies in the back eating, we see you
😂😂😂
So helpful, thank you!
Yours looks like mine always do!!! YAY! Glad I'm able to frost as well as Bridget!
I’m a 14 yo baker and I’ve been making cakes for a long long time, coming from my advice, I absolutely suggest adding a crumb coat, so add a coat of frosting (a thin coat) and leave it in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes. This will keep the crumbs out of your final coat and give the Cake a better look
Thanks for your video. Very good tutorial.
thank you for this video this is the best one i’ve seen. I’m making a cake today!!
Thank you this was a very informative video.
I typically alter playback speed to 1.25 or 1.50........I don’t often get time to sit and watch videos so this really helps. Thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you for sharing this 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank u!!! Your video was so helpful! Having to frost a cake for the first time since CoronaVirus has the world in quarantine

Excellent instructional video.
I never thought to use a large salad bowl as a cake dome! It works perfectly!!! Great tip!
Thank you this helped me a lot
Great tutorial. Thank you! Curious about how much icing was used.
In what world does parchment paper work like that...it curls up and never stays flat.
They just did a equipment testing on parchment. The winner was from King Arthur flour. They were flat ones in a pack of 100. They did not recommend rolls of parchment or folded sheets by Reynolds.
@@yvettetellez5064 do you know what type of frosting they use? Sorry I'm 2 years late
Thank you very much very informative
Informative tutorial. She was professional and to the point. Ppl milling about in the background didn’t bother me as much as some viewers commented, but I see what they mean.
Great video...thanks for the tips, for this beginner.

how did it go? 🥺
Best tutorial ever for frosting cakes🎂🎂🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Using Cake strips around the pans will keep your cake tops flat. CAKE STRIP= Damp paper towel wrapped in tin foil and placed around the outside of the pan. Also helps keep the cake edge moist and fluffy instead of stiff and brown.
Cloth type can also be bought.
love frosting when it laid on THICK! -good video
Great Explanation.
Love this!
That was helpful thanks
Great video !
Thank you. I just learnt something's I don't know about frosting
I'm distracted by the chicken brining in the vat behind her.

Haha yes. Reminds me of a specimen jar in a science lab.
LOL
Agreed, I also found the turkey sized and shaped chickens in the background distracting
It’s a turkey.
Oh goodness. This is basic and she said she was skipping to the taking strips out. I love to watch Bridget. She has the best heart and would love to meet her in person.
