      @@FerencKranicz This is big picture problem with Thrust Master. Making a 10Nm direct drive base with a plastic quick release is a very bad idea. It needs a metal system on the base and the steering wheel.. Spend some money to improve reliability and longevity.

    I bought a T818 one month ago. I bought it on Amazon with a 30% discount and I wasn’t sure of the buy because virtually every CZcamsr said that there was some flex from the QR.
    I don’t know if you all got some pre production units but even by applying all the pressure sideways I could on the wheel I wouldn’t see as much flex as in the videos. But very little flex. This is weird. Other than that the wheel base feels excellent on rFactor 2 and Assetto corsa. But I agree that it can be expensive for what it offers.
    If it hadn’t been on sale that much the choice would have been way more difficult. But I’m globally very happy with the product as it offers great detail. Still I bought it a month ago and don’t know how it’s gonna go in the future. But I’m not sure moza is the reliable choice either.

    I am currently using a T300RS (TM ecosystem) with a Sparco P310 wheel. The P310 (and the stock GT wheel) both don't even have numbers. At least when I map a button and the setting says it #_, at least I know what number the buttons are without mashing them like I am playing Mortal Combat.
    But as much as I am a massive TM fan (3rd TM wheel/pedal set out of 4 I have owned), I think my next rig (when time, more space, and budget allows) will be a Moza, Simucube, or other system. But that dream also includes a full motion system and large triple monitors (compared to my current triple 24s).

    Great looking wheel. Not really a big deal about not having back light buttons but three draw backs that must be addressed to make it worth the price point are the flex, the button labels and the noisy shifters. If Thrustmaster don't address those issues they are not only tone deaf they are completely deaf. They should be very simple fixes to address on an engineering level. Fix those issues and it looks like a rim that would be very difficult to fault. Don't fix them and you have a brand new product that is being rolled out already flawed.

    • @Kenno10rapid
      @Kenno10rapid Před měsícem +2

      @seallz the button labels are the smallest problem because someone will inevitably make an aftermarket set even if TM don't change the stickers that come with it. The flex is pretty serious and will only get worse with a lot of hours using the wheel. As for the shifters the plastic is not so great but the biggest problem is the noise. TM have never made any attempt to make any of their shifters quieter. I actually modded my previous TM shifters with foam and rubber to quiet them down which worked well but we shouldn't have to tamper with these things to make them right. Noise travels and anyone in the house while someone is engaged in some intensive racing will get driven mad by the constant clattering of these shifters. Let alone late night and early hours sessions. They need to address it or I'm going to have to keep modding them which I would rather not do. Especially at those prices. TM are so close, too close to let these issues slide. Easy fixes for a big win.

    I'll probably wait until they roll out the button box separately or they roll out a D-shaped rim. But I imagine they'll incentivize you to not just buy the button box alone. I bought the Ferrari GT3 rim a few months ago. I appreciate that TM at least gives you the option with these new wheels to either stick with the old release system or utilize the QR they have on the T818 now.

    • @ThaJay
      @ThaJay Před měsícem +1

      Yeah it would be nice if they sold the button box separately and add an industry standard quick release option for the rear unit. Then you could use this on any set up and use the standard wheel bolt pattern (at least it looks like it is) to mount any old real sports steering wheel.
      If you then add the Moza stalks add-on that's coming up, you'll have all the options on or behind the wheel and may not even need an external button box. Could be amazing for VR as well, being able to do everything by touch.

    I'm really not sure how you had that much flex - unless this was a faulty unit. I've got a T818 and compared to a Moza R9 there's no difference. There IS a big difference in the faff of tightening the collar on the T818 and It's definitely not as simple - BUT once on it simply does not flex like your wheel in the video. If the new hub really is like that then no chance will I order it.

Plus they have a button labeled "Drink". I get it on a licensed replica, but on a TM branded unlicensed wheel? That flex is also completely unacceptable at $300

    If TM wants to lead the market they need to be current or forward thinking. Release a Ferrari 296 wheel 1:1 with nice illuminated buttons and thumb wheels. Or a 499p wheel with the same. Also, have comparability with all current game releases for console and PC (SF1000 compatibility sucks). To me they are in the 2000’s. If Mona and others can make quality affordable wheels, so can TM.

    They should merge with fanatec, since they’re both going for the mainstream, call it fanamaster, or thrustatech. @@MegaIronica What's your point, at the moment, if you have QR2 base side, when you buy a wheel from Fanatec. They forced you to take QR1. If you want QR2 you need to pay extra. Isn't it the same that Fanatec isn't giving you the QR1 for free, it is included in the price already? Except if you want something that make it compatible with your wheelbase, you need to pay extra now or wait till you need it but need to pay an extra premium on shipping which is 40 USD for Canada.
