Hey!!! What's up! Welcome to another video here on Midlife Mamma!
This week is the first video in the SINGLE MOM series I mentioned a couple of weeks ago! I'm excited to share this information with you all. I'm hoping it will help some folks, like it helped me.
To kick things off, the first video in this single mom series, entitled HOW TO HIRE A NANNY, focuses on child care. Figuring out how to find the best child care is an issue that most single moms and working moms will have to deal with eventually. In my case, I needed to figure out how to find a good nanny for toddler child care. In this video, I take you through my 10 step hiring process for a nanny, and give you tips for a success in your search for a nanny.
I used Care.com and all the resources available on their website to locate candidates, pre-screen, interview, and run background checks. I highly recommend this app/website if you are looking for good, qualified child care options.
Try Care.com here: www.care.com
It's free to join and take a look around the sight. You'll need a premium membership once you begin an active search to hire a child care provider.

DON'T FORGET to check out the companion post for this video over on my blog for more insight into my search and a link to a list of interview questions for your potential child care provider.

I've worked in daycare, it's a broken system. Nanny's are a better option, trust me. I would recommend a nanny cam for further precaution.
Aribus G Thank you! I have a cam. Can’t be too careful. 🤗
I’ve had nothing but a great experiences with daycares
No it’s not people just have find what works best for them and be vigilant about what they need and want from that daycare 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

JenJenn Davis So was I!! LOL!
Great video. I've thought about a nanny before but had no idea how to go about how to really look for one.

Hi. Good day! Please notice this🙏🏻🙏🏻 I have a question, can a construction worker from USA with a good salary is qualified to hire a nanny from the Philippines? Thank you.
Where is county
Such a great person I wish I babysit that baby
Do you still have those list of questions available? I've tried the blog's website but it doesn't seem to be working.
Juju Bee Yes! Sorry my website is being revamped for a re-launch. If you send me an email to midlifemamma46@gmail.com I will reply with the list of questions.
I'm at 3:30 timestamp so you may answer my question later in the video, did you so your own background? Also, care com don't require a nanny to submit a background check , so it really up to the family to do a background check or is up to the nanny to have a background check available as a selling point
Also, I'm planning on trying to find a nanny on my own, what is your opinion on me looking to post on indeed or zip recruiter?
Also, I planning on having a nanny camera visible in every room they have access to, my child is 12 years old so he's pretty much independent but I'm like you a single mother with a high demanding job so I just need a little help now and then as far as like coming in twice a week do small housekeeping jobs prepare a nice dinner for me and my child and maybe run a couple errands to the dry cleaners or the post office. How much did you pay your nanny
Hey! Thanks for watching! I hope it helped! So Care.com doesn’t require a background to get on the site, but they do a pre screen. I eliminated immediately if I didn’t see a background. But I also ran my own background check in addition to what was available to me on the site. It’s not the only place to post a nanny position, it’s just what I used. I think you might get some hits on Indeed or Zip Recruiter. I think it’s worth a try. My nanny and I agreed on $15 an hour. Hope that answers your questions! Good luck with your search!
@@MidlifeMamma Yes thank you so much.. My son is 12 so he stays at home alone after school until I'm off work.l, so I'm not really looking for someone to"care" for him, did someone to come in two or maybe three times a week cook a nice dinner very light housekeeping and maybe run an errand or two to the post office or UPS or pick up something from the store. Wish me luck, thank you
What questions do you ask if you need a nanny to drop off your kid to school?
I did an inspection of my nanny's car, took the license plate down, and checked her driving record. I would suggest driving scenarios to see how she responds.
Am looking for a nanny for my 4 girls age 12, 3,2 and 6 month old . Preferably from the Philippines or Cuba older person with experience
I'm looking for a nanny job in england but no one is hiring me from the caribbean..even though i can pay for my airfare :(
Is the nanny equivalent or more/less than traditional day care?
Nannies will charge significantly more than daycare.
This is because multiple kids go to daycare so it’s the daily rate times the amount of kids.
Nannies only have one family (mostly) so they will charge way more. I live in Northern California (4 hours from San Francisco) and charge $23 an hour
You will also be expected to pay taxes so that will add up too
I wish I had the guts to hire a nanny but I don’t 😓 I don’t trust anyone but maybe one day that’ll change
I get that. It’s scary and it’s a big step to take. I wouldn’t have if I didn’t absolutely have to.
When you employ a nanny are you responsible for their tax withholdings?
dreb2g You are responsible for taxes if you pay a nanny more than $2100 in a year. You can withhold it from wages or you can choose to pay the taxes for Social Security and Medicare. You do get a child care tax credit that should help offset that cost. Hope that helps 🤗
Please don’t go through an agency!!! They don’t help nannies at all and have a conflict of interest because they’re paid only by the family
Hoy look like 37 or 38
