    Preservative applicator? Wow, how things have changed! When I was a child, we didn't have all that fancy stuff. When I was in the haymount I had to Salt every layer of hay by hand,and it was brutal. We had weather on our side,and a smart grandpa.We mowed it with a tow behind combine,rake it after that as it lifted the hay higher for drying.If we didn't get it quite dry enough, I had to salt it,witch was all the time,the amount of salt depends on the moisture content. I at 9 yrs old,had the responsibility of making sure that there was never a fire! Today,the state would lock my grandfather up and put me in a foster home for that.Times have changed so much,for the worse in almost every aspect! Driving loaded hay wagons on a main road at 10 yrs old,I mean,you dont see,or hear of that anymore.

    The way we were taught in the late 60 early 70 . Was when we started the year with a baler that is empty and a little bit rusty, we would check number 5 and 11 bales for the lengths , tensions , weights .
    Than every 40 are 50 bales , for first couple 100 bales .

    The only thing you don’t have on a Dyna4 is enough gear ratios to optimise output at a fixed engine speed, such as baling. I would always choose a Dyna6 if given the choice. I own and run a Dyna4 MF5445 tier3 myself and love it but recognise its limitations for some jobs. 16 ratios was great when tractors were all 18mph 30kph max speed but now all are 25 mph 40kph and the ratios more spread apart. Maybe US spec is still 18mph? Only rear wheel drive tractors would have that top speed in the UK. Many tractors would be fitted with front and cab suspension and optionally 50kph 31mph top speed, but these would mostly be 120hp+
    In the UK and Ireland a typical intensive farm's hay crop would be many times heavier than seen in the video and even swaths every 10ft apart would fill the mouth of the baler completely at the forward speed seen above. That’s not a criticism, just a factual observation.
    MF would be a better loader tractor with the low nose for far better visibility that the Deere.

    I don't know if it'll work with your John Deere but on the hydraulic control handle for the bucket and loader try to hold it as close to the bottom of the handle as you can and operate it that way and it makes it so you can I don't know how to say this finesse the bucket I guess and a loner make it makes it harder to push the handle to do what you wanted to do so it kind of lets less fluid through I don't know how to explain it but that's what I did to get over being jerky with the excavator, and then I learned to just turn the idle down from 8 to 6 and it helps LOL

      Man I'm 18, and I'm the same as you, the e series is the only series I can afford with deere for the 100hp I want. So I'm set on this exact massey ferguson as the one shown in the video. From a mechanics standpoint I'm going with the 5700 series rather than the 4700 series bc of the extra cylinder. More cylinders equals more power and torque. I'll never see why a tractor that size doesn't have a 6 cylinder engine. Ig I'm just to used to my old internationals/farmalls that start at a 4 cylinder and go up to a 466 cubic inch 6 cylinder diesel. 🤣🤣

      The 3cly will hold up but not the most powerful tractor but good on fuel.

      @@DLHFarms yea. I just hate the concept of a 3 cyl diesel engine. I have the same diesel engine in a kubota zero turn as my kubota tractor. That should not be a thing. If I wasn't disabled I'd stay with my international tractors but hand controls on those old girls get tiring quick so I'm looking into a cab tractor with a shuttle shift.

      @DLHFarms You're a real farmer, I have 85 acres and run 25 head. I plan on cutting approximately 50 acres of hay and use a 5x5 baler and a simple 10 foot disc mower. In your opinion, is a 100hp tractor overkill for a guy like me?

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Absolutely not. 100hp of today is not the same as 100hp 30 years ago. They just don’t have the same grunt they did back then. If I was you I would go 120 but you can get by with 100.
