    Is Dubai about to collapse?
There are numerous rumors and comments all over the internet that suggest that Dubai is a bubble waiting to burst. Many say it's a fake city with an inflated market that's simply not sustainable in the long run.
Some say that investing in real estate here is a big danger, as you may not be able to resell or rent your property in the future due to overbuilding.
Is this true? Or is it just propaganda that's being spread around? Who would benefit from such propaganda and why?
Today we are covering the present and the future of Dubai. What should you be worried about and what almost certainly won't be an issue in Dubai?
Who are we and what do we do?
We are Offshore Citizen team. We help people become global: get a second passport, set up a second residency, pay less taxes, do banking abroad, etc.
We have lots of interesting articles on different topics, we have relevant information up to date.

This idea of air pollution is actually not true. When I was there for a decade I worked for the Government for a couple of years. What seems like air pollution is actually sand that's picked up in the air due to humidity and turns into haze and looks like air pollution. There's no heavy industry in Dubai, so that's not air pollution from factories. Also, they are putting out negative stuff about Dubai because loads of people are moving out of Western Countries and they're worried about the brain drain and the escape of capital. Housing has traditionally been fairly poor quality as far as newer condos etc, at least units built during the boom in 2006 to 2009, but in the past few years the quality has really improved with various EU quality agencies like TUV certifying the quality of the product.

After recently spending two weeks in Dubai as a tourist, I can give my analysis to what I observed..... Dubai relies heavily on tourism as part of its economy.... As a tourist, I did quite a lot of shopping at many of its malls and shops..... My first observance was the malls and shops were crowded during my two week stay.....What was impressive was all the establishments were fully stocked with merchandise..... That must mean the merchants are PAYING their suppliers to maintain stock.... THEIR WERE NO BARE SHELVES AT ANY OF THE ESTABLISHMENTS I VISITED... ... No reason to blame covid for empty shelves...... I did observe projects in the midst of being constructed, however that is due to being a fairly new city..... Dubai was very clean and safe which adds to the positive experience that I had.....Dubai had rules which was basically to treat the city with respect along with conducting oneself in a manner that would not not cause problems within the community.... It seems many of the negative comments regarding Dubai comes from jealousy of a new city that is making its mark on the world.....I am proud of my country however their is room for improvement........

Yet another great video Michael! Keep up the good work in promoting facts and truth over rumours and the fearmongering. One question though: Do they still have the ridiculous mask mandates as you mentioned in the video that they "once" had? Because it doesn't seem like anyone is following the science on this one. Here's the truth behind masks, by the numbers: the diameter of coronavirus is 0.1 microns. The best mask (N-95) can filter out only down to 0.3 microns. Everything smaller than that, including Covid, is getting through. (Likewise, surgical masks are only 0.6 microns while cloth ones come in at 6 microns. Simply put: Masks. Do. Not. Work. (Nor do lockdowns, as illustrated by the John Hopkins University Hospital study a couple of months ago.)

@@stephenbanks5952 I think the key in Dubai is that you can choose to spend either normal prices for most things (comparable living cost to London for me) or you can spend silly money and Dubai becomes the most expensive place to live. An example is food shopping. Spinneys is a mid-price supermarket here, but it can be more expensive than anywhere in London. I shop in Viva & Union Co-op and my groceries are actually cheaper than when I used to shop in Sainsbury’s in London.
Having said that there are a few things that are more expensive: Mobile network costs, Home internet and TV, Utilities (mostly because of A/C) etc.

There are some valid reasons for distrusting Dubai which have outraged people. I am speaking of the kidnapping and forced confinement of Sheik Maktoum's 2 daughters. These are serious violations of rights. Another huge black eye for the UAE and other countries in the area is the fact that 89% of people living there are foreign and many of the lower income workers are treated pretty much like slaves. It's not easy to overlook these issues but that doesn't mean that the entire city is bad.

But nowhere they were able to match Dubai salary. We looked at Europe, after deducting close to 40% tax we would have ended up wih much less salary. Same story with USA and Australia. Only Singapore branch made sense because they only deduct 15% tax. Now after coming to Singapore found living expenses are skyrocketed, because it’s damn expensive to live in Singapore. @@OffshoreCitizen I haven't been to UAE yet, so I can't say anything about the circumstances. What I find interesting is the mentoined propaganda. We see the same thing with BTC and other high reward opportunities. Just the usual sorting methods I suppose. I want to visit Dubai soon, seems a fair place to have a residency and they seem to be more progressive recently. But what do I know. How do you like it there?

    (1) people don’t understand tax, esp younger people not working internet and those on lower incomes whose incomes are not heavily taxed
    (2) the lack of tax most benefits people on high incomes re home country tax progressive system; these people are a relative hitting minority online
    (3) salary insecurity and cognitive dissonance - people on lower incomes tend to cast aspersions on alternative options, if you are earning 50k, you might say well those earning 150k are working all the time and are miserable etc. lest you concede implicitly that someone earning more might be better off and more capable. Also casting aspersions on other people’s morality re attitudes to money is hot too.
    (4) Much of the internet are Americans which is far away from the UAE, so haven’t gone there, have little interest in going and it is too far to visit. I am unsure if all Americans can derive tax exempt status / the text of any double tax treaty.
    (5) people don’t like heat, and it is arguably too hot for much of the year; there are ways to mitigate that by taking holidays or working abroad during the summer months, and Dubai is built as an inside city for when the weather is too hot. People play on both the heat and the fact it isn’t built like other “walking” outside cities to suggest it is poorly designed, should never have been built, and that all it contains are malls and avarice.

    I lived in Dubai from 2014 - 2018.
    The Good:
    - Tax free income
    - Great place to travel from
    - Meet people from all over the world
    - Outdoors/Adventure sports
    - Incredible facilities
    The Bad:
    - Very transient
    - Too hot (June - Sep)
    - No natural greenery, awful for taking a walk
    - No real culture, no place to bring up children (they will be 100% snowflakes)
    - Very inefficient and frustrating to do many simple tasks
Overall an amazing experience but would never live there again - makes me appreciate home in the countryside now. 🇬🇧

It could be Macroeconomics. Dubai 's main attractive is its fiscal residence and 0 tax. And attracts billions of money that escape outrageous tax systems in Europe and the USA - rest of the world. On the brink of a new Great recession with inflation ( stagflation ) ,Covid- Ukraine, higher commodites, most influx should be sent back to build a safety net . If we look at the performance of major economies, except for Germany which is industrial and exporter , most have deplorable trade balances by GDP, mostly negative for ages EU -2,-4% , USA -3%,( commercial war with China -a historic -5%) UK -8% that of an african nation , London , Amsterdam, Delaware, Luxemburg , Channel Island etc they all make money the same way as Dubai's, attracting influxes of money. But those countries have larger economies and hard times exporting, manufacturing , they became expensive ,uncompetitive, china - dependant , unattractive for producing real assets , plus they import all food/energy/manufactures and are at least in 100% debt to GDP , someone has to pay for it. This case reminds Uruguay was a smaller mini-Dubai in Latin America, but post crisis 2008 they started to have bad press , even then president of France, Sarkozy bashed on Uruguay tax system, and now became as strict and rigid like no one.Basically big economies don't want competition , their tax havens remained untouchable and want their money back. And don't forget all Gulf-states have their currencies fixed-pegged to the USD dollar for decades which is debatable in many countries no to float like most currencies, so prices should move in sync with the us-dollar.

For me it's just their environmental and societal setup is not natural and completely fed on oil wealth. Their nation as it stands today isn't a natural setup that was established hundreds of years ago. With a massive number of expats and foreigners needed to keep the country viable.
I love the business friendly environment and tax benefits. But it's not a naturally developed country, if the U.S. decides to stop protecting it, or Iran starts to get aggressive or oil prices drop for a prolonged period of time, things can get dicey pretty quick.

Forget about walking ANYWHERE. The city planner must be a 6 year old child that loves Hot Wheels. The fact that you glossed over this for 3 seconds (at the 1:50 mark) is hugely disappointing.
