      @adgvans  Před rokem +2

      Thanks Sherrie! I completely agree a larger bed would be very nice. This one is the size of a commercial "Full" but is less than ideal for anyone over 6ft tall. In a future build we will adjust the layout to accommodate our tall friends!

    Amazing innovation, especially with the radiant heat flooring (haven't heard that in a Class B before). Love the stealth component as well. That low profile Dometic AC really helps. Only thing I would have considered adding is a couple of side awning windows at the bed. Looking forward to following your success! 👍

    • @adgvans
      @adgvans  Před rokem +4

      Thanks Kory! We went back and forth on windows. My original thought was creating a space that felt private in the evenings when closed up at night, but during the day you could open up the back doors to nature. In retrospect I think windows would have been good. After all there is such a things as curtains!!! The next build is getting side windows!

    Nice build and on the next one you might move the shore power to the drivers' side since most RV parks have the water and power hook up on the opposite side of the rig from the entry/awning. Stunning outside and in!

    • @adgvans
      @adgvans  Před rokem

      Thank you Kathryn! Thank you so much for the compliments! Yes good catch on the shore power and water fill ports. Because of the layout inside the van we had to place those on that side, but it would be much more convenient on the other side for sure.

  • @EstherLiberty
    @EstherLiberty Před rokem +2

    If it was raining, and you had the table hooked up on the other side. You could push the table back. Pull out the bed holder just enough to let only the one side down to sleep and wouldn't have to get out in the cold or rainy weather to make a bed to sleep.

    • @adgvans
      @adgvans  Před rokem

      Hi Helen, great observation. Yes if the Lagun table base mounting plate was located elsewhere, the table could be left up while the bed is made. It is possible to get additional table base mounting plates so the table can be moved to multiple locations throughout the van. Also as it is, you can easily put away the table and make the bed with the back doors closed keeping you nice and dry! Thanks!

      Hi there! Thank you! Sure thing. The toilet is a Thetford C402c (left hand), the shower pan is a 27x24" molded plastic. Both the toilet and the shower pan can be found on multiple web sights including Amazon but a good source for both is Campervan HQ. The toilet paper dispenser is an Ocianair Marine and can be located on Amazon. The shower faucet is no name brand, but can be located on Amazon. The shower door is a Camper comfort 36x67 and can be located on Amazon. The rest of the shower we built in house. The shower walls are custom epoxy panels. Epoxy from Stone Coat.

Is there room for a lagoon mount on the side of the shower or passenger B-pillar? It would be cool to be able to sit and have breakfast up front without having to make the bed first thing in the morning! Thanks for sharing this build and all the best in your new venture. It would be tough fitting all of this build into the 10" of cargo space in a 136, but I'm all about problem solving and figuring it out for a future build! • @adgvans

      Thanks Mike! The K02's are 245/75R16 so slightly larger than stock. The Black Rhino Bandolier wheels are 16x8. No spacers needed. You do however have to modify the two alignment posts on each hub. You have to shorten them by .25" or so if I remember right, otherwise the wheels won't seat flush against the hub.

    I like this build a lot, nice job! One question I have concerns the battery charging: I wonder how your system would keep the 600 Ah (~7,600 Wh) of batteries charged off grid with only 400 w of solar and the DC-DC alternator charger. On a good day, the solar would yield about 1200-1600 Wh. Then you have the DC-DC charger. How many amps or watts does yours pull from the alternator? The most typical DC-DC chargers pull 30 amps, or 360 watts. Unless yours pulls more, that would be many, many hours of driving to fill your batteries even half way. Perhaps you have a higher output alternator and DC-DC charger set up?

    • @adgvans
      @adgvans  Před rokem

      Hi Paul, Great questions and thanks for the compliment. Sounds like you have done your homework! While I am by no means an expert on electrical (that would be my son Caleb), I think a lot would depend on how a person uses the system while off grid. Conserving energy, like water, would allow one to last longer, allowing the solar to hopefully replenish the batteries. We use a 50 amp Kisae alternator charger with RAM's larger option alternator that was offered with the RV prep package. To be honest I don't know the alternator output. I don't have any technical data but it charges surprisingly fast while driving.

    Beautiful build! I have a question about lifting the van. How do you get that lift without torquing the front components related to the FWD and limiting limiting downward wheel excursion (ie on rough ground pot holes) ? Also did the rear lift increase the rear axle clearance or is that just a factor of being able to use larger tires? Thanks again for showing your excellent van conversion!

    • @adgvans
      @adgvans  Před rokem +3

      Hi Don, Thanks for the compliment and question! The lift is manufactured by Off Highway Van in Salt Lake City. They could probably do a better job than I, explaining the technical aspects of the lift! But without getting too technical, in the front, the lift has spacers for the Sub Frame and the Steering Rack that correct and restores the angles to near stock. The rear lift actually does provide more axle to ground clearance by using spindle spacers that rotate the spindle. If you go to their web site they have a downloadable instruction manual that shows the parts. Hope that helps!

    How long can you run the heat if boondocking in 20 degree weather

    • @adgvans
      @adgvans  Před rokem

      Thanks for asking Joey. Really great question. I can't give a perfect answer but here is an idea. The system runs several ways. If you were parked, you can run the heat via the furnace or the batteries. The furnace runs off of the gasoline in the vans fuel tank. The fuel tank is 24 gallons I think. There must be a minimum of 1/4 tank of fuel to run the furnace. So if you have 18 gallons of fuel, theoretically you could run the furnace 24 hours a day for a total of 4.4 days. Then you can run the heat system off of your batteries, but it will draw down your batteries very fast unless you are generating enough solar to slow the draw. When you draw down your batteries, you could start the van and heat the heating system via the motor's glycol until you run out of fuel completely. So really hard to say, but my best guess is no more than 6 days running it 24 hours a day. I could be way off!

      Hi Mohammad, the van cost $85,000 to build. That includes the price of the van new and the materials to build. That does not include labor. Thanks for asking.

    I wanna know who pays crazy money like what your asking for this ? I know it’s a nice van,but some people have more money than sense,even if I had a spare 200 g’s ,I would rather build my own van,then at least it’s how you want it to be,plus a lot cheaper,

    • @adgvans
      @adgvans  Před rokem +6

      Hi Herby Hannan, yes I totally agree it is crazy money! There are a number of factors driving the current van market. First we have to factor in the current cost of a new off the lot stock van at between 50 and 80k depending on the platform and the features. In the last year the prices have increased by nearly 10,000 and demand is allowing dealerships to sell vans above MSRP. Then the cost of materials. In this van we have nearly 40,000. in just materials. All that is not including the cost of labor. We had three full time workers building this van for several months. So yes it adds up fast. Some people have the time and skills to do a DIY and that is fantastic. Others however would rather pay for someone like ADG Campervans to do the build for them. Thanks for the comment!

    what do these vans cost?

    • @adgvans
      @adgvans  Před rokem

      Hi Lauren, thanks for asking. This particular van is priced at $138,000. Professionally built camper vans usually range from about 90k to well over 200k. Not cheep by any means but they are like a tiny home on wheels and they are very expensive to build.

      Unfortunately the Promaster only comes in 2WD Front wheel drive, but the lift and the larger tires provide better ground clearance for the tanks underneath and also improves the looks! At least we think so!!!
