OMG!! I have entire conversations with my cats mimicking their tone and voice and I feel like they actually understand what I am saying!!! It’s hilarious, but I love it!!! ❤❤❤
me too, only I don't understand what I'm saying in meowing language 🥰
I agree with you. I can have conversations with mine. I bet this guy has never had a cat. I've had 4 cats and they could understand me and I could understand them. Two of them learn some words that actually sounded like English, such as Aut when they wanted to go outside. And I can immitate some of their sounds, they understand fine. My current one is extremely intelligent.
You're one of the good ones. ❤
I do too. I also will meow several times when I have gone to bed and he hasn't followed me. And after about five or six meows he will come running and meowing. As long as it works I'm going to use it.
When I talk to my 2 girls in “baby talk,” they either immediately begin purring, or if they’re already purring, they get a lot louder! And I love it❣️🥰
Mine too he loves it
My sweet boy can meow, yet sometimes he looks at me does it with no sound like he's whispering. Special!
ours does it, silent meoows, i think it is when she wants something for sure, but does'nt feel confident about asking
When my cat started doing silent meows I started joking with my friends that my cat thinks that I can read her lips,
The point of a silent meeow combined with a slow blink and slight nod. is to make the greeting more personal and private between you.
My cat says Hello in the morning. You would swear it was a human saying it.
My cat does that too. Its mostly at night though.
How sweet. Mine just mew for their breakfast.
My cat says hello whenever she wants me to go over to her.
Years ago my mother had a very chatty cat that I thought it would be cool to teach her to say hello for treats. She learned and well anytime you went to the fridge she'd run up going "Hellooloooloooloooooo" excitedly with the extra looo's.. or was it more like woe? It's been so long. It would crack me up every time though.
Did she know what "hello" meant? I dunno but I'd like to think so. ""Helooloooloooo!" (Hey I exist and want a snack too don't forget about me!).
I miss her. She was one of the best cats ever. Kinda chonky with mainly white fur with black splotches. Very friendly and cuddly and soft.
❤❤❤
My cats and I have aMEWSing conversations.
They hide when adults visit, but when family bring their children around, they interact with the children.
Just watching this while lazing in bed with one of my cats sprawled over me. Thank you for not playing the cats meowing on the video, he hates it. Very grateful I could continue watching before he insists its breakfast time, again😂
I’ve yet to meet a cat that doesn’t react to the sound of dry food hitting the bowl
Or the rustle or opening of a bag 😻
I clank the ceramic bowl with a metal spoon. Also, they know the drawers with munchies (at the computer desk and in the TV room), and when I open one, they come running.
Or the "shake" of a Treat bag...
One cat that I looked after used to tease her dog friend. Poor dog never found out why her head kept being patted when she tried to sleep under a low coffee table. Dog would wake up, look around, but never up. They remained best friends, and I never told the dog.
My cats know certain human words. We communicate great😺😽
I had a cat who reacted to the word "hungry", to the point we had to spell it aloud or use periphrases. Whenever he heard the actual word, he started meowing in a super loud and pitiful voice, as though we had last fed him a week earlier, when it had actually been twenty minutes.😂
My dad's fault, for unknowingly training him by asking him "are you hungry?" in an exaggeratedly concerned voice when the cat asked for food.
@@yayatheobroma929 our is the same over the word treats
@@SuperCanuck777 😄
The sounds my cat makes just before hawking up a hairball will wake me up from a dead sleep.
👆 This 👆
😂
One day, not long ago, I noticed my cats paused for a second as they passed one another. I began watching them more closely over the next few weeks. They repeated this pause over and over. So I bought an amplifier to discover if a sound accompanied the pause. Yes, one does. It is brief and deliberate. How interesting is that? I do not know if it is recognition or what but they do acknowledge one another. Hmmmmm🥴
My cat announces herself entering any room. We have extensive call/response convos all the time.
I read to my cat. 😊
that's hilarious roflol
I have found that whether a cat talks to you depends on how many words you use to talk to them and using the same exact words and phrases for the same situations.
Doesn't everyone meow to their cats? I always have. And rarely, I hiss. To let them know "no" in their own language.
Snowy squeaks, and when I squeak back, she'll answer. And the only time she purrs is when she crawls under the covers to snuggle and knead my chest. So I always 'purr' around her to let her know how happy she makes me.
sometimes i purr at my cats while i pet them, or hiss to say no as well
Most cat to cat communication is done telepathically, so the hoomins don't hear them.
Cats seem to pick up human thoughts also; when we planned to take our cat to the vet, she was nowhere to be found😆
@@erika8357 Mine loves to be petted, unless Im thinking about picking him up, then he is gone.. Ive even tested by 'deciding to pick him up' while petting.. and he suddenly takes off before I even reach with the second hand
I hear you!! Sometimes I mentally call our cat indoors and I can almost guarantee that she'll come home through her cat-flap within ten mins!!!
Mel 🍰🌻😺
My house has a built in vacuum system. On of the vacuum outlets was not airtight, It was, unfortunately, the outlet in my living space -- and it would hiss loudly when someone was using the system in the rest of the house. My poor cat would freak out when this happened, so we fixed that outlet ASAP -- and no problem.
Cats are sensitive and telepathic. That helps.
Kittens combine telepathy with their superpower: 'You WILL Love me. There's nothing you can do about it. Now pick me up, gimme some love!'
I have had cats all my life. Very few of them have not understood exactly what I was saying... and I have understood exactly what they were saying to me. I think these generalizations are way off base.
dogs desperatly want to understand us, and grasp a fair bit.
Cats understand us perfectly, and are mostly unmoved.
cats do have words.
My cat, Maisey, we had her since she was 4 weeks old, she understand everything I,m saying or asking, very strange. I’m even surprised most of the time 😻 Greetings from NZ 😸
not strange at all. We must respect their intelligence and their sentience. When we do, they will amaze us with their communication skills and ability(willingness) to Love.
after reading the comments, I'll pass on the vid.
I'm on cat number 4 and they have ALL learned to communicate just fine. And they understand me also. Especially the current one, she lets me know when she wants a treat, when her water bowl needs refilling, when she wants go outside or to the attached garage, among other things.
These are usually wrong. For one thing, they always say there is only one context in which cats meow to each other, that being kittens meowing to their mothers. They don't even think to say that the mothers meow to their kittens as well. They're not thoughtful enough.
My cat will do the hello like "meow-rar" meow when he wants me to get out of bed, or someone went outside without him. And the video never even mentioned the chattering they do when a fly is buzzing around.
Actually, my cat can’t meow. She can make little croaking noises, but not actually full meows. The vet thinks she injured her vocal cords somehow. It doesn’t seem to bother her though.
Snowy doesn't meow, either, she squeaks. Found her on the street, abandoned, about 4-5 weeks old.
My cat understands a lot of English words and phrases that I say. I 💕🐈🐈⬛🐈💕
Mine too. Get off the table, get off the sink, sit, go eat, go to sleep, go outside.
Just forget cat noises - my cat just jumps on me at 5am daily. Every day. These critters are crepuscular. Dawn & dusk is their jam.
I have learned to purr, both in the inhalation and exhalation phases, so that the purring is continuous. Dare I use these words, but it is done at deep throat.
My cat wakes me up by licking my face ...if i don't get up she keeps pawing me if i cover my head with the blanket she jumpe up onto the headboard of the bed and jumps on me
How's that for determination 🤔
dude i have conversations with my cat, it's so fun and i can obviously tell she likes it
Dear Cat,
I cannot tolerate anymore! Please please please let me go!
Open a door or leave me alone.😢
After watching the channel billie speaks, I truely believe cats understand more than we thought before
When I meow to my cat it answers back with a meow. So cute.
I used to meow to my darling kitties when they were alive. They would look amused, but they would meow back and we’d go on like that for a while. They did understand some human speech in some way or other, so we managed.
My Cats understand my Southern English better than 98% of Telemarketers.😁
Our female ragdoll recognises our car when my daughter drives into our underground apartment parking when she's sitting on the balcony,as it's above the garage driveway & also see's my daughter walking up the garden path bcos she come's through the flat meowing, looking at me & sit's at the front door.
She also used to alway's wake up, just before my daughter was due to come home when she had the same work hour's for a while.
She get's a look of excitement/joy, whenever I say.."Mama's coming. or where's Mama" .😊🐈
Our male ragdoll has special high pitched meow's & makes lije a littke tender song & blink's his eyes cutely, when he try's to convince us he hasnt eaten in 1 week ,when he just ate 20min's ago.😊
He has a very emotionall tone to the point,Iwhere his meow meow turned into the word no once ,when play fighting with our female cat.
When he wants brushing/stroking he goes in my bed & roll's around & look's wuth blinky etes & meow's quietly.
Our beautiful cat's are alway's communicating with all of us.
Their different taol . movement's ,tell's us a lot. Their whole body speak's to us.
We just have to watch them to understand their body language, just as they're trying/wanting to speak by sound with their meowing to us.
Yes,we can speak telepathically with them as they do with each other .
I feel cat's have not heen understood enough . They're very sensitive, spiritual animal's .We can learn a lot from them how to not keep putting up with thing's we actually don't want to
Bcos car's know exactly what they want & they tell us & you wint chsnge theur mind's .
Meow.
If you have a cat, it doesn't take long to figure out what they want...pet me, feed me, you're pissing me off, I love you. It's all wonderful.
Adult cats meow at each other. Whoever came up with the idea that they don't, must have never seen any adult cats.
I am a first time cat owner for a few weeks now and i had no idea about cats. You learn extremly quickly what the different sounds your cat makes mean. I mean it is not more then 10 different sounds and they do it over and over again in allways the same situations.
Hello good kitty.
I have two male cats, and two kitten sisters. I have full-on “meowversations” with them all. Lip sucking, tongue clicking, and any quick hand movements are ways of getting their attention.
*But how to "talk" back to a deaf cat?* 🤔
My cat is getting old… and she's deaf. Although, her ears seems to react to certain _(loud, high)_ noises. But somehow not all of those noises…
Eye contact and my _mouth-shapes_ seem to help. Also, hand gestures, like tapping on a place where I want her to sit, seem to help.
And she does meow, often. Even she can't hear.
My cats have all been telepathic. You might try sending her simple messages through your mind, maybe including an image in your mind to accompany it. If you have a treat for her, send her a relaxed message telling her you have a treat and hold an image of the actual treat in your mind like a picture.
A friend had a cat meowing as a ring tone. I had a small dog at the time. When my friend was over there phone rang and my dog walked all over the house looking for the cat. LOL!
I talk to my cats all the time. If I say " meh ah" short and quick, they come to me. We have meow convos all the time. I love cats!!
It's also important to observe and copy their facial expressions Especially the slow blinks and soft nodding action (which is part of the friendly greeting) Some people can learn to produce a brief purring sound. However don't try all of this at once. Just try one simple thing - the slow blink and nod of the friendly greeting.
Torties are also a type of cat that meows a lot. Seems to be there favorite way to talk to people.
mine definitely thinks she can talk.... her 'out' is fairly clear
when she wants to go outside...
And 'ayup' as a greeting, she tries
I've always meowed at my cats. Sometimes I'd do things like a sad meow if they weren't paying attention to me and they would perk right up.
I love hearing meows
My cat sounds like he's say "meowma" when he wants something😂
i talk in baby talk to my siamese cat all the time ! lol. I talk to my cat in when he is sitting on top of my electric scooter under the cover, and he actually looks at me and meows back in response to me and i can tell what he is trying to tell me ! he is actually trying to tell me to go away and leave him alone cause he does not want to be disturbed while he is sleeping up high on top of his favourite scooter under the cover ! lol :) so he is using the seat and cover of my electric scooter as a high cat tower and a cat igloo all in one ! lol :) he is a shy little boy so he loves to hide alot. he hisses at my mum and he claws at my scooter not wanting to let go when my mum tries to pick him up off the scooter and when she tries to put him in to the carrier on cleaning day. but on a more positive note he loves his daddy and he loves to give me cuddles on my lap every night as we watch movies and tv shows together late at night and he likes to rub his cheek against my cheek and he gives me little headbutts to show me love and affection and to rub his scent on me and he loves to play with me by his favourtie play tunnel every day ! :) we play soccer football kicks with the ping pong ball together ! :) he is a one man cat and i am his favourite i am also his owner :) my baby boy's name is "Mr Snoop" like mr Snoop Dog the hip hop rapper from america. my little boy is currently 6 years old his birthday is on 22nd June.
My kitten and I meow all the time.
It also sounds like he is saying yum yum yum when he's eating.
A cat, in particular, one that is not feral, may not understand why we talk to them, but they know we talk, and a cat who loves you will want to talk back to you. As far as the cat knows, you're just making sounds to the other humans. They do it back to the best of their ability. Many cats are actually pretty good at imitation of sounds, too. They may not be parrots, but if they really care about you, they will want to engage with you, and will have likely been doing their best to communicate with you.
And never underestimate how much your cat understands about you. They may not know what exactly the words "good boy" means, for example, but they will understand that you're pleased with them.
My cat occasionally "chuffs" at me, when she is being super affectionate. I was astonished when she first did it, as I assumed only big cats I.e. pattern genus cats did it. But she has repeated it several times since, and it sounds exactly like the "preusten" noise a tiger would produce.
Pawedorable!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
One of our cats will clearly say YEAH to questions about food & 🙀 just recently NO, waaaat the cat is giving "back chat", when I tell them off I say NO, just recently they give a very Loud & clear NO back & will day NO to me when told off now. Its all a bit 🙀 freaking me out!!
My orange half feral tom talks to me exactly like a
Mule Skinner, who can't get his mule to do as directed.😾
I brought a friend home from playing some hoops and he was looking at me like I was from outer space. I then realized I had been talking to my cat the whole time, and what was worse, he was talking back with various meows and purrs. LOL
Cats can hear low pitched sounds like growls just fine. Humans' normal voices are closer to growls, that's why cats prefer higher pitched baby talk.
My cat Janie can’t meow. I found this out 6 years ago when i adopted her. When she wants to eat, she knows to come to me and she sits up straight and looks me in the eyes. I talk to her but she can’t talk back.
I beg the difference, cats do understand when a person meows at them, mine did. We had our morning talks and evening talks. My kitty understood me.
Actually, they do understand. You can say something hilarious to them, confusing or rude.
Oh yeah, we have this feral cat who comes in our house to eat and get loving, catnip and treats. He speaks very good English, and when you meow at him, sometimes he shakes his head and says, "no" in response. Sometimes he smiles and looks at you like, "You're goofy!", sometimes he just falls over like, "Oh, you shot me!".
So yes, cats can understand us as well as we can understand them when they speak human.
Buttercup would say, "Meow Radio" when she wanted to listen to music. "Meow Movie" when she wanted to watch TV.
Strangers who were meeting her for the first time would look at me in amazement and ask, "Did that cat imitate how a human says "Meow" and then clearly say "Radio"?"
Me: "Yes, she did! That's why I got up and turned the stereo on after she spoke her request."
Stranger: "OMG WOW! That's amazing!"
Me: "That's just Buttercup!"
Yes, sometimes "experts" are way off base.
Ty for helping the feral baby🐈⬛🐈⬛❤️
my cat really goes off when the speakerphone goes on.
My cat Gandalf the Grey (deceased) could understand and say several words, one of which was "outside". It sounded more like "rout ride" - think Scooby Doo - but he would say it when he wanted to go outside. Or I could tell him to go outside, like with the mouse he had just caught, and he would go to the door.
Use the exact same word or sentence when you communicate with your cat. At five years old and exposure to this your cat will begin to make good sense of what your are saying and respond accordingly. Time is required for your cat to learn to communicate directly with you. Cats can make about 100 different sounds and will use these in response or to start a conversation with you. These sounds are specific to what the cat is thinking about. Realize to make sounds like this requires a lot of effort for the cat. When that cat reaches 10 years old he or she will have a good understanding of what you say so long as you closely adhere to your exact words used statements. I was able to communicate ideas and actions to my 10 year old cat without much trouble or confusion. He always did what I ask him to do. He was a good kitty.
My cat reads the newspaper to me in the morning and makes comments on the financials in 15 different languages. I win. 😊
Before I watch, I'll say this: I talk to my cats, and they talk back. They understand me, I don't necessarily understand them. Currently, when Snowy squeaks (she doesn't meow), and I 'squeak' back, she always answers with more squeaks.
My cat cries for 20 minutes when i leave for work. She greets me first thing when i wake up. I always talk to her and she meows back
It is NOT enough to merely meow. There are different Meows--and my cat taught me them.
Sama the torti cat an the Pepper jack cat's always talk to me an obey commands like dogs" sit, stay,up, down they talk to me an understand" ##MauiCatDaddy
I had one cat super friendly but NEVER spoke or meowed. Except when her sister died
I talk to my cats in their chirp language, and the conversation goes on for full minutes. But when I switch to English, they give a look that says, "Well! If you are going to speak gobbledygook, I'm going to clean my paw."
My cat only talks to me when it's hungry... why is that?
The images in your video are wonderful. But you could also add the sound of the different meows to improve it.
I have found a deep rumbling human Growl when they are having a cat slap fight breaks that up immediately
2:11 adorable feet of the cat's mommy;-)
A fully mature cat is invested, at best, with a brain similar in computing power to that of a chicken house raised pullet. Cats have one or two cute endearing kitty tricks in 'em. I am working with our new kitten now to teach it to answer properly with a meow. (When it feels like it.)
There was a kitten in the garage. I was trying to get it but he wouldn’t come out. I actually started meowing lol, and he ran out towards me. Hahaha I couldn’t believe it. His name is Meow Meow😂
I prefer to purr at him. He likes that.
I have a tortie named Jazmin & boy can she talk up a storm . I call her my chatty Cathy, & sometimes I tell her to shut up lol but she understands,,,,it's pussy cat treat time and she knows that the are on a side table beside my living room chair. She loves playing games with me,her mom,,,oh and I get kisses from her on my forehead or eyebrow or sometimes she'll wash my whole hand,,,love it😊
Some times, when P-Nutt was on top of the couch, when I was slouching watching tv, he would lick my head. I wear a short crew cut, so nothing but hair and skin. I thought that was strange.
@@jameschan9634 roflol funny pussy cats eh?
Well…. When my cat wanted to go outside he would go to the door and say “Oowaa”. The “T”sound just didn’t come out. It’s the only time he would use that meow.

When my ex-gf’s kids were too lazy to go up the stairs if their Ma was up in her room they’d do this whiny ‘Mum’ which almost had a ‘meow’ to it. One day, we heard this whiny ‘Mum!’ from downstairs and we just looked at each other because all 3 of her kids were at school. We went downstairs, past the cat in the hall and looked around. No kid
This went on occasionally for weeks on end before I saw the problem staring me in the face: Pippo, one of the cats, had learned to mimic the kid knowing my the gf would go see what the kid wanted and the cat would get a wee treat too
Like dogs, cats have a limited vocabulary and understand some words. Cats also have specific vocalizations that are specific to each cat.
Either talk or not, after spending enough time you will start to understand animals as they understand you. Moreover, every animal is tend to mimic its owner subsistently.
They meow when they want food. Then bear and Krissy do the sneak attack when I open that door that treats are found.
thanks for the info 😻
What noises can people make to get their cat's attention? The sound you make when you open a new can of cat food would definitely be an effective sound for this!
WRONG! CATS DO HAVE SPECIFIC WORDS FOR THINGS IMPORTANT TO THEM!!!!! AND THEY CAN TEACH THOSE WORDS TO THEIR KITTENS!!!! We had a cat named MO, he came to us from a neighbor that was moving and had him since he was a kitten. Mo had already showed his intelligence in many ways BUT when he came to live with us, we would occasionally give him Human food, his former owner had just fed him cat food. One of the first Human foods he tried was chicken. MO LOVED CHICKEN and wanted it whenever it was on the Human's menu. However he could NOT say chicken so he began asking for Ma, his word for chicken. Now before you begin thinking this was just a random sound, a few months after he came to live with us he got introduced to another food that would surpass his love of chicken! It looked kind of like chicken as it came into the house in a plastic bag all plucked and ready for the oven BUT it was MUCH bigger! The Humans called this food Turkey. Again Mo needed a word for this new food but could not manage the TUR part of the word SO he did this, since it looked like Ma (chicken) he took his word for it, Ma and added the part of the new food's name he could say, Key and coined his word Ma HE. Sometime later a kitten came into the house and she loved Turkey as much as Mo and would use Mo's word Ma HE when she wanted it! Ad as proof the kitten, Chuck knew what the word meant, I made the mistake of one day bringing a frozen Turkey home to cook and I showed it to Chuck saying, "Look what we will have later!" Sometime later Chuck came to me wanting food and I gave her some standard cat food. She looked at it and then at me as if I had just put dirt in her bowl. I asked, "What's wrong Chuck, that is good food!" She looked at me and in a pleading/questioning tone said, "Ma HE!?" She was expecting the Turkey I had shown her earlier! After I explained it was not ready yer, she then ate the cat food.
I carry on a full conversation with my cat
I once fooled a friend's cat with a perfect meow when his back was turned. He went tearing around, looking for "the other cat."
Later he caught me doing it again, and he gave me a nasty glare. That was the last time I did that.
re cats meowing in response to normal conversation, check out Louis Rossmann's "conversations" with his cat Mr Clinton. The videos are a few years old, and I would post links if CZcams didn't routinely block them.
Yeah my cat can mimic a couple words but definitely doesn't know what they mean precisely. now Mom no hurt . Hurt is the only one use limitedly and he might have a vague idea of its concept which is vaguely useful
I wonder why cats look so insulted everytime I meowed at them. Was it something I said?
Proberbly your accent is terrible!
I GET ATTENTION BY OPENING DOOR OF REFER OR COOKING
Mimicing rawen sounds; rauh works great while communicating friendly. Combination of a purr an rauh.
But only if it comes from humans, not Ravens!!!
No no no. Cats have a pretty complex language, which we can learn in order to communicate with them.
As for example, one of my cats made me understand, she had no milk for her kitten and I had to jump in. She was really mortified about it and showed me also her tits. The kitten refused to drink milk by licking it up.
So I prepared a bottle and fed the kitten. The cat thanked me extremely. Then she took away the kitten and brought it back every time, when feeding was due. Somewhat every 2 hours.
It was the longest and most complex discussion I had with a cat, but it's not rare to have a 2 minutes lasting exchange.
Cats can talk to us with buttons though.
Aaahh humans! Those species that like to jump to any conclusion they feel convenient about anything we do.
What about the cats like @BilliSpeaks or @TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks that use buttons to talk? if you watch enough of them, you know they are communicating and using a shared meaning with their person. If they can understand words in that context, how do you know they don’t understand the words for those that try to vocalize them?
Ya ya ya how do you know ??
