Picture a regular WWII M4 Sherman tank, but with an ingenious addition - a canvas screen and special propellers. A Duplex-Drive DD tank could float and operate both on land and in water, making these tanks essential for the historic World War Two D-Day Normandy amphibious assault on June 6th, 1944!

No comment at all about the loss of crews. Did any get out? How many tanks sank? Why did they launch in almost suicidal conditions? Was anyone higher up held responsible?
What a terrible way to die

You know, these are all valid questions. Unfortunately all are incredibly hard, or even impossible to answer. Who gave the order to launch D-Day in such lousy weather? That ultimately fell on Eisenhower’s shoulders.

    Interesting but very lame failure
